Today was a home day. Since hubby was going to Denver in the afternoon for a couple of hours today, I stayed home. So I was going to sleep in but when hubby was getting ready to leave, I woke up and was unable to go back to sleep. Now he left about 730am, so I got down my book and read until 1030. No tv, just reading. Silence. And I was ok. I have been pushing my time away from tv, trying to spend more time in my craft room, where there is no tv. I do take my computer down and play on it down there, turn on Netflix and Hulu. Hubby has told me how to find the free movies on Amazon and I am going to try that sometime. My thought is this, get used to spending time downstairs on the computer, away from tv, and when I am used to that, then I will try doing things in my craft room, like clean off my shelves and unpack the boxes of material. Baby steps.
I read my book until 1, when Rose and Soong Jung came over from next door. I had talked to Rose, after getting her father's permission, about helping me walk my dogs everyday for access to my jewelry making items; beads, wire, thread and closures. Soong Jung is her mother. So they came over and we walked the dogs today, the first day since I sprained my ankle. Today was a testing day to see if I could walk now and get back into it. It worked! I took a short break at the park but other than that I walked just fine. My ankle was a little sore afterwards but it worked out ok. Soong Jung and I talked while Rose went through my beads and collected some to work with. I sent her home with a sandwich baggie full. This week we are going on walks for 3 days. Tomorrow I can't walk, I have therapy in the morning, then working at the Zoo in the afternoon from 1 to 4pm, holding the joey.
The walk took a lot out of me. By the time we got back, I was covered in sweat, my face, my hair. I knew it was warm outside but didn't think it was that hot. The dogs' tongues were definitely hanging low by the time we got home so I told Rose that we would walk again on Wednesday at 9am. That means I need to get up earlier than I normally would but I think it will be easier on me and the dogs.
I got a call from my insurance company that they had found out who was the insurance carrier for the car that hit me and ran, and they had opened up a file with them. My agent gave me the information and I called them directly. We did a recorded statement and I found out that the driver hadn't gotten in touch with their insurance provider yet so they were still in the dark. They had filed for the police report and were waiting on that before they could authorize my claim yet. We ended the call with me checking in with her next week to see what the status is.
Hubby called me on his way to Denver, telling me he was having a productive day and was in very fine spirits. He was in a great mood and was looking forward to being home early today, around 530pm. Since he already made the Hearty Chicken Casserole a couple of days ago, that's what we were having for dinner, the evening was free. When he got home, we put some of the casserole on a pie pan and in the oven to heat up. Then he went down to the office to decompress and I cleaned out the rat cage and played with my boys. I took turns riding Dylan and Zeke around on my shoulders and when I straightened out the cage blanket, I added a hammock for them to sleep in. I think I am going to add a top cover for the hammock so they will have a little hidey hole, a little snugglely place to sleep. I think it may take them a little to get used to it.
I spent the early part the evening watching YouTube videos about training my rats, comforting them, daily cleaning rituals for them and how to feed them. I learned that rats need protein like scrambled eggs and such 3 times a week. Also how to hold them so they feel secure and how to pet them so they will feel you grooming them. Very helpful things. Then my mom called and we had a nice chat. I was expecting Cassie to call like she usually does but she didn't. I miss her but she probably ended up talking to Miranda or someone else. I left her a message on Facebook and told her I loved her and would talk to her soon. She is busy spending time with her mother-in-law who will be leaving soon for Italy. Though she will be gone for 3-5 years, she will be back to visit and I'm sure they will skype too.
Then I went upstairs and cuddled with my wonderful hubby.
