Sunday, May 31, 2015

Today was a buying day.  We didn't go to sleep until 2am last night so when I woke up at 6, I let the dogs out and went back to sleep, all the way to 8am.  The dogs were still sleeping at that time so I just wrote to my nephew, Robbie.  Hubby got restless and I asked him if my typing was waking him up and did he want me to stop and he said no so I kept writing.  He was up by 9.  We sat in bed and watched some Netflix and played on our various electronic devices.
I was way to restless and had decided while hubby was still sleeping to not go to church today.  Now I really should have, I need the fellowship, but I just wasn't having it today.  I needed to go out and do some errands today and we needed to go grocery shopping.  When I told hubby, he was glad because he wasn't feeling quite well and knew we had to go out too.
So we put away our toys and I fed the animals while he was taking his morning constitutional.  I took the rats out, pet them and then fed them, cucumbers and carrots.  Then I got dressed and waited for hubby to finish getting ready.
We left the house with a plan.  We headed to PetSmart and bought natural recycled paper bedding for the rats to replace the pine shavings the previous owners were using.  We also picked out a healthy food for them to be supplemented with fresh food.
Next we went to Home Depot to look at bathroom fans as the hall bathroom fan died and that one has no window, so it's pretty important.  It's also the bathroom we have to use right now until we fix, hopefully just, the caulking in our en suite bathroom.  While we were there, we also looked at the price of the shower pans ($159) in case our's is cracked.  The bathroom fans ran from $15 to $50.  Caulking is just under $6.  I did want to pick up two tomato plants but we can't afford them right now.
Right now we are going to have to "float" our payday loans again, take out 3 new loans to pay off the 3 due loans and pay one month's interest on them but we can't afford to start paying them off this month.  We are one month behind on the internet and utilities.  My 6 month appointment with my shrink for my medication check is on the 4th and that is $150.  My nightly psychotropic med that I take to help me sleep needs to be called in and that is $240 for a 3 month supply and the insurance company won't let me buy it monthly, where it would be $80.  Now I save $20 a month by ordering it through my mail order company but we haven't gotten budgeting down yet to be able to save up for it each month.  So we have that.  And we promised to pay the dentist $200 this month because we couldn't make a payment last month.  So I talked to hubby and we decided to sit down and add up all our debts to see how much we own so we can make a plan on how much to pay everybody each month and the priorities.  Just like I am reading about.
We ate lunch at the hot dog stand outside of Home Depot for just $6.50.  Yeah!  Then we went over to Walmart.  We had to get stomach pills, canned dog food, canned cat food and bird for the cockatiels.  Technically they aren't called cockatiels, they are called cockatrices.  Anyway, that's what we got there.
Next we went to our local shopping center.  Hubby dropped me off at Great Clips and then proceeded on to King Sooper's to start the grocery shopping.  I would meet him there after I got my hair cut.  Now that made me really nervous because the last time I tried to find him in King Sooper's, I couldn't.  I got so anxious!  I had to go back to Great Clips and just sit there waiting for him to come find me, and I had to take an anxiety pill by the time I got home.  So this time, I took a deep breath and started looking for him at the check out stands, heading to the far end of the store.  We usually start in fruits and veggies, then work our way over to soda, so soda was where I headed first.  I walked to the back of the store and started working my way past the aisles heading toward the middle of the store, when I see him!  I was so happy!  It was all I could do not run up to him and start dancing.  That's when I got some real guts and told him I was going to get some more veggies for the rats and I would catch up to him.  And I did.  I found him a second time.  When I spotted him the second time, I let out a really big sigh, not realizing I had been holding my breath while I was looking for him.
We made it home and then I worked with the rats, Dylan and Zeke, cleaning out the pine shavings in the cage and putting in the recycled paper bedding.  Then I held each of them for a little, petting them and kissing their little heads.  Then I put them back into the travel cage and took them upstairs to the hall bathroom.  I ran some water in the tub then put the little guys in.  Zeke immediately pooped, which I am starting to realize he does when he gets nervous.  Both of them don't like being in the water and kept crawling up my arms.  I got shampoo on Dylan but rinsing him with my hand scooping up water was really hard.  I'm not sure I got all the shampoo off but I did let them get out of the tub and dried them each off.  Then I sat on the floor and let them crawl all over me.  Dylan crawled up and over my shoulder, down my back and there he dropped.  He hung out behind my back.  I reached back there and petted him.  Zeke ran up and down my body, checking things out, only pooping once on the towel.  I let them run around for a little while until the got busy cleaning themselves, then I put them back in the travel cage and took them back to their cage.  I need to cut some cardboard to lay down on a few of the floors so they have a solid surface to stand on.  I put a couple of cardboard paper towel tubes in there for them to chew on, but they haven't so far.  Tomorrow I will look and see if I can find some wood.  I need to find some things for them to play with like a spool or a ball.  The exercise wheel they have is too small for them and needs to come out but they like to get in it because it has a nice surface for their feet.  So I am going to find and cut some cardboard tomorrow then take out the wheel.  I would like to buy or sew a a hammock for them too to put in it's place.  The rat ball is $22 and I need to sell something to pay for that.
Hubby put away all the groceries and in the middle of it, cleaned out and wiped down the fridge.  Did a total detox on it, went through all the food and got rid of all the old stuff, rearranged the shelves and drawers.  Did an incredible job.
I fed the dogs and the rats tonight, hubby fed the cats.  I fed the cats all their dry food.  I am trying to step up and take over the care and cleaning of the animals.  In fact, I bought scrubbies at the store so I can work on the fish tank and clean the algae off the glass.  It really needs a lot of work and I would like to enjoy the tank again too.
Hubby said one more thing, another dig at me, about the rats today and I acknowledged his comment but let it drop.  He has been slowly getting to know the rats today, which is good.  In fact, he just went down to give them a treat of boiled peanuts he was eating.  I think it's all going to work out just fine.  And the money will too.  I will turn it over to God but still do the leg work.  I see a lot of reading the bible, praying and writing in my future.

Saturday, May 30, 2015

Today was a sweet day.  Poor hubby had to work today.  In fact he had to be in Denver at 830 but had to go to the Colorado Springs school at 7 so he had to get up 6.  Sweet man that he is, he fed all the dogs, birds, and fish before he left and told me.  The night before I asked him to set the second alarm for 10am for me to get up because I wasn't going to get up with him.  I need more sleep than he does, about 8-10 hours a night.  Sometimes I wake up after 6.
So the alarm went off at 10, I got up and brushed my teeth.  When I was done, hubby called me to make sure I was up, he is so sweet!  We got to talk for a few minutes.  He had to be in Denver to sell books for a particular class that was happening that morning.  He had just gotten the books in yesterday and had to be there for the students.  So when nobody came to the book store, he went down to the class and out of the 7 students registered, only 2 showed up for the class and they had bought their books elsewhere, so it was a mute point.  But hubby also had to do inventory on that book store so he would have had to go up there anyway today.
I called a cab to take me over to my Red Hat social, tea at Judithmary's.  The cab driver was so nice and took directions well and got me there quickly.  It was $8.90 for the trip and I used my debit card to pay.  When the driver handed me his phone, I approved the transaction, gave him a $3 tip and sent myself an email receipt.  Then I got out and went in.
The tea was beautifully set up and there were 11 of us red hatters.  2 were visitors and told us about themselves.  Virginia was an older lady that moved to the Springs 2 years ago.  She is downsizing and when she told us she was wanting to sell her doll collection, I told her she should do it on eBay.  She told me that several people have told her that but she knows how to get on the internet but that's about all.  I promised to help her and we exchanged numbers.  She is going to call me next week and I hope she does because I am not sure I know what I did with her number.  I can always get it again from Judithmary.  Virginia has a whole house full of dolls.  I will be happy to help her.
I asked and got a ride from Jean home.  Luckily when I checked, I had my keys in my purse because I didn't look before I left the house.  I got in, set down my purse, put the leftover food in the fridge and went upstairs to change.  Then I came back downstairs to get my phone out of my purse so I could call hubby and tell him I was home but I couldn't find it.  Then I thought about when I had it last and I remember taking it downstairs when the cab drive pulled up front.  So I figured I must have left it in the cab.  I was trying to figure out how to contact the drive, I was going to have to wait until hubby got home so I could call the cab company and see if he had found it.  Hubby had come home about this point and I started to tell him what happened when he said I left my phone in the cab this morning and he pulled out the phone and gave it back to me!  Come to find out he called my phone and the cab driver answered.  Hubby talked to him and arranged to meet him in Widefield, as the cab driver was off work now, and gave him $10 to thank him for taking care of it.  I told you this man was sweet!
Hubby ate and laid down for a nap.  I sat next to him, playing on the computer.  Now when I say I am playing on the computer, I am cleaning up my email, going on facebook and craigslist, then looking up stuff on Google.  I don't play computer games, ever.  I did do that farm game on facebook for a little while but it got to be more of a drag so I quit.  I don't play video games either.  Anyways, when I was on craigslist, I saw on the free section there was a 2 hour post for a pair of large rats with their big, airy cage and travel cage.  They also came with some bedding.  So I called and talked to the lady.  Nobody had called and I have been wanting another rat for the past several months now.  But hubby kept telling me no, he thought it was cruel to the rats, the cats would terrorize them, the dogs would try to eat them and they would just become another thing he has to take care of.  But this time, I decided to get them.  The lady said that the rats were male and they had both cats and dogs and they were used to playing with them.  So I arranged a time to go get them.  Hubby slept through all of this and I didn't wake him up to tell him.
So I got up, changed into a pair of jeans and went to get them.  They were free but I do have to go buy food for them tomorrow.  They are so cuddly and adorable!  The dogs have taken the longest to get used to them, Tally, one of our cats, was intensely interested in them and did climb the cage and lay on the top.  She was very interested in their tails that come out of the cage.  Hubby was mad, very mad and told me I am being cruel to the rats by bringing them into the house.  But I know they will be ok and everyone will get along.  Hubby also thinks this will be one more animal for him to take care of and I don't blame him.  He does do a majority of the back end care of the animals, cleaning cages and feeding half the time.  Cleaning litter boxes and the backyard.  But that's not fair and I plan on changing that.  Next week I am going to take over doing the cleaning so he won't have to.
We set up the cage on my craft room table so the rats, named Dylan and Zeke, would be another draw for me to go to my craft area and spend time there.  It is a roomy space where they will have the wall behind them and the side of a bookcase to protect another side.  Tally immediately climbed up the cage and laid on top.  Zeke went up and sniffed her foot and tasted it gently, then went back to the corner to cuddle with Dylan.  Dylan is the shy one and is a little reserved.  Zeke is the adventurous one and loves to climb.  I am looking forward to taking their pictures tomorrow and starting a facebook page for them in the next couple of weeks.
Hubby is now on this "If I want something bad enough, then I don't care what you think" mentality because I knew he would say no to getting Zeke and Dylan and therefore I didn't ask him.  I wanted them and got them now I will have to pay the price and show him with actions, not words that I will take over taking care of the animals.  He says he has heard this all from me before and he doesn't believe me.  I will just have to show him.
Our big male cat came in and is interested in the rats but isn't overly so and won't knock over the cage to get them.  It's are 3 story cage and has a bowl base so the bedding won't come out.  It will need to be changed every day as food will be in there.  And rats smell, especially the male ones.  So tomorrow I am going to give both the boys a bath.  The lady I got them from used groom clothes on them a couple of times a week so they were technically bathed but I see nothing wrong with a bath and doggie shampoo.
Tomorrow is church and then we will go, or I will go, to Petco and get rat food.  Apparently they won't eat the alfalfa pellets but like the oats based diet.  I will have to see what they have.  I will also have to check the garage for some chewing blocks as they don't have any in there now and rats are like any rodent and need to chew to keep their teeth worn down.
Tonight I will do a little research on the net to look up how to take care of Dylan and Zeke.  Just to make sure I am a good mama.

Accident, Friday, May 29, 2015

Today was a grateful day.  The alarm went off at 845am and I laid in bed trying to squeeze in another few moments of eyes shut time.  10 minutes later I jerked awake and jumped out of bed.  I immediately got in the shower and then got dressed in my Zoo Docent uniform.  My short sleeve green polo, my elastic waist tan pants and my sneakers.  I wore my ankle sleeve since my ankle was sore from yesterday.  See I wore a clunky pair of clogs that were heavy and hurt my feet to the store and it made my ankle really sore again.  I am on week three with this sprained ankle.  Getting better but it still hurts.  I really want to start walking next week but I will have to start out slow.
I dropped off hubby at work and continued on to the Zoo.  When I got there, the volunteer/employee lot was filled to capacity so I had to park out on the lot with the guests.  Then I had to walk up the big hill and go to the Admin building where Base is.  Base is where the Zoo operator is, the Zoo staffer that handles the switchboard.  It's also where the Docent sign up book for the joey handling is.
The season of holding the baby wallaby has started and June's schedule was out.  I looked in the book and only the afternoon sessions are still available.  7 days a week Docents will alternate holding our only joey with Australian reptiles.  The morning session of 10 to 1pm give the two Docents 2 hours to hold the joey and one hour of showing the reptile.  The afternoon session has 1 hour of holding the joey and 2 hours of showing a reptile.  It's ok as I like reptiles too and this is a great way for me to get in a lot of hours towards my 30 hour requirement.
Then I went to Rocky Mountain Wild and played Docent in Wolf Woods.  I was able to spot the wolves out right away and helped a lot of guests see them.  I brought out the Mexican Grey Wolf pelt and had the guests touch it and ask questions about the wolves.  I answered them the best I could.
When I was done with my 3 hours, I walked back out to my car and read for a little bit.  I left the Zoo and headed back to pick up hubby to switch the car.  I waited at the light to get on the freeway and when it turned green, I started to go when WHAM!  I was sideswiped by a speeding truck that came barreling through it's red light.  I'm ok, damn lucky, that the only thing that happened was his running board scraped along my front bumper and ripped off my license plate assembly and jacked up my bumper.  It tore the bumper off the mounts on the sides, breaking the quarter panels.  I am going to take the car in for estimates next week.
I waited for over 3 hours for the police to show up after I called 911 but since I wasn't hurt,  mine was a non-emergency and I had to wait until an officer was free.  Finally hubby got a ride and came down to where I was.  we waited close to another hour and then called the police back on the non-911 number and they said I could wait at my house and they would send an officer to me there.
We stopped at El Taco Rey, hubby's favorite Mexican place, and picked up dinner on our way home.  We were able to eat and then rest for a little while before the police showed up.  Officer Blair was good and professional and got the report.  We told him where the truck that hit me was parked and showed him the pictures I took of it.  I gave him my witnesses information and what they said.  I had 3 witnesses to the accident, one was right behind me, and two followed the truck and saw them ditch it and where it was.
Well, it's late, I'm tired and it was a long day.  I hope tomorrow isn't so eventful.

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Today was a sunny day.  The day started off really good with waking up around 10am when hubby was getting dressed and told me that he was going outside to jump Elroy.  Elroy is my 1983 Chevy C10 pickup and we recently just finished putting the engine together and filled the radiator with water instead of coolant so we could start him and check for leaks from the water pump.  When he finished putting in the radiator, fan guard and hoses on Monday, the battery was dead and we couldn't turn him start him up.  So this morning we went out and hubby moved our Saturn in front of Elroy.  He charged Elroy and started him right up.  We let him run for a little while and checked for leaks and YEAH!  There were NO leaks!  So all we have to do now is drain out the water and fill it with coolant.  Then we need to get the flat tire fixed.  Now since I didn't get the tire filled with air when it first went flat a couple of months ago, and it has been sitting that way, it probably will have to be replaced.
So that is how the morning started.  When we were out working on Elroy, a very friendly black lab with a blue harness and tags came up to us.  His name was Pluto and he was adorable.  We brought him in our house and called the number on his tags.  At least I tried to call the number on his tags, hubby read it out to me and I called and left a message.  The woman called back and said they didn't have a dog and didn't live at the address on the tag.  We went down to the address, just down the street from us, but no one was home.  So Pluto came in and he was an adorable puppy, about 7 months old.  He kept trying to play with my dogs but my dogs didn't want to play with him.  They all were grouchy, including Baby.  Pluto kept running up to her and bumping her and she would bark at him, then he would do it again.  Poor Baby, I've made her old before her time.  She is only two years old now and didn't know how to play.
So I got all the dogs together and put them in the backyard.  Then I went out front to sit on the steps because hubby went to get me a Cherry Limeade soda from the gas station and he was in a hurry to drop it off and get to work.  While I was sitting there, a man walked by and was looking all over the place so I asked him if he was looking for a dog.  He said yes so I asked him some questions about the information on the tag to verify he was the owner, he was actually the roommate.  But he was watching Pluto and had him out in the backyard when he escaped through the fence.  I loaned him a leash and he took Pluto home, then he brought back my leash.
I got dressed and then went across the street to visit with Janice.  She was getting ready to run errands so I went with her.  We went to visit her son and drop off some shirts and cans, then we went to Popeye's for chicken for lunch.  We came home and sat out on her back porch to eat.  We were almost done when it started doing a famous 5 minute rain storm.  I left and went home.
I spent the rest of the day watching tv and being on the computer.  My new book I bought on Amazon "Slaying the Debt Dragon" by Cherie Lowe arrived.  It's a true life story written by a woman on how she and her husband got into $127,000 plus in debt, then paid it off in 4 years.  While they were raising children.  I figured maybe it would help us figure out how to pay off $1300 in Pay Day loans, $4750 in taxes (plus penalties and interest) and $10,000 loan (plus interest) to my parents.
Hubby got home about 930pm, brought Panda Express, so we ate and went upstairs to watch tv.

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Today was a therapy day.  Hubby decided last night that since he got 9 hours of overtime last week from having to go to Denver 3 times and work until close, the Overlords would be happier if he didn't have so much overtime this week, so he decided to go in after my therapy this morning, which meant we got to sleep in until 930am for me.  My appointment is at 10am and Steve is only 5 minutes away so i had plenty of time to get up, get dressed and get out.  In fact, since hubby was sleeping in until 10, I left at 940am.  Which was good because my neighbor, Janice, the one who I watched the dogs for when they went to Florida, was out and so were her dogs.  Normally her dogs stay in their front yard and don't come out but since I have watched them, we have a bond and now they get excited to see me and come running across the street.  So I pet them and loved them and took them home.  I visited with Janice for about 10 minutes, loving the dogs the whole time, and then left for therapy.
Her dogs remind me so much of our old dog, Zues.  He was 14 when we had to put him down.  Our daughter Cassie grew up with him and she carried his ashes around with her in a locket I made her.  I remember that time, it was a couple of years ago.  when we decided that it was finally time. Zues wasn't able to come upstairs one night and we put his dog bed at the bottom of the stairs.  Hubby heard him whining in the middle of the night.  He went downstairs and Zues had had an accident and peed the bed.  He had to pick up this 130lb dog and clean him up and clean up the bed.  Even when Zues was in pain and didn't want to do  the stairs, he would still come upstairs in the middle of the night and sleep in our bedroom.  He would need help to get downstairs in the morning.  Wel, we would decide it would be time and make arrangements but then he would have some good days and we would put it off and cancel the arrangements.  Well, that night we decided that we couldn't put it off any longer.  We called our daughter and had her come down to say good bye.  Overnight I cooked a large roast in the crockpot with beef broth.  Then next morning, I turned off the crockpot and let it cool down.  Then before Peaceful Partings got here, I fed all the dogs a big helping of roast.  Then I put the two small dogs out and fed Zues as much as the roast as he wanted, until he stopped eating.
Peaceful Partings got here and Zues and the other two dogs got excited, they like visitors.  We had Zues on his bed and we sat around him.  They brought special treats to feed him and we did.  The other dogs got some too.  Then they put in an iv to administer the euthanasia drug.  When we were ready, they gave him the drug.  He started to nod off and fought against it for a moment, then he relaxed.  Then he started breathing slowly and stopped.  We held him and cried.  Later we called Cassie and told her Zues passed away.
Therapy went well.  We talked about that Steve still hasn't gotten paid  and he hadn't gotten a call back from my insurance yet.  I told him I have already met my deducible and that he is going to owe me a whole bunch of money back after he gets paid from my insurance, so he gave me a check for $100.  I tried to not to take it but he said he knew we were tight and I should, so I did.
We also talked about that sometimes I still had suicide thoughts, that how I would do it, questions about what it would feel like and if I took a bunch of pills, would I start to get queasy and throw up.  I hate to throw up.  How sometimes I think about how it would be to die.  I don't feel like I want to commit suicide but the thoughts still go through my head.
We talked about the new website I signed up for to get email from, I think it is 365 Declutter or something like that.  They send an email to you once a week or once a day with a list of the day of a 15 minute decluttering project to do.  The thought is you do a 15 minute decluttering project once a day and in 365 days, your house is organized and clean.  Only this week they have you working with your prescription med and sorting through them and your first aid kit and I don't handle my med, except to get my morning pills and my afternoon pill from specific contains that hubby puts them in.  That way it's taboo for me to handle large quantity of pills, that way I feel weird if I try to touch my stash of pills.
When I got home, hubby left to go to work.  He was working in the Colorado Springs School for a couple of hours then heading to the Denver school for the rest of the day and evening.  I stayed home and dressed for the day.  Didn't do much, ate about 5, my leftover roast beef and mashed potatoes from Cracker Barrel, so was good for dinner.  Hubby got done about 8pm in Denver and drove through a low altitude thunderstorm that slowed him down but still got back to the Springs around 9.  He stopped at Kum and Go and picked up sodas and hot dogs for a little snack for us.  When he got home, we ate, and rewatched the first episode of this past season of The Walking Dead.
I wonder why I still romanticize suicide.  Why it still pops in my head, why I still wonder about it.  Things are going well, I feel happy but aimless for the time being.  I guess I need to explore it more with Steve.  As long as I am checking in with him, I think I'm ok for the time being.  I really need to sit and think of some goals for my nearby future and some long term goals.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015

Today was a thankful day.  Memorial Day is a day to be thankful for those who served and died.  Thankful for the freedom they fought for for me.  For us.  For America.  For the free world.
The day started off hubby and I waking up to the alarm, hubby calling his friend, Brent, and trying to get a hold of him to see what time he was going to come over and help us fix our cars.  We had 3 vehicles down.  My parents vehicle, the PT Cruise, started bucking and chugging about a block away from the house Sunday on our way back from church.  Felt like the gas line getting clogged so we wanted to get some high octane gas treatment to put in the tank.  The Saturn, the radiator cracked when we were on the way up to see Cassie the day before the wedding.  Elroy, my 83 Chevy C10, the radiator and fan guard needed to be put back in along with all the respected hoses and have fluid put in to see if we finally got the water pump put in right.
Brent eventually got here and handed out cans of Pepsi all around.  Then he and hubby started working on the Saturn.  They did their man thing and I stayed out of their way.  Brent and hubby are long time friends and you might even say best friends so when they work on a project, they don't want me around.  So I stayed in the house and eventually started the laundry.
They got the radiator and new hoses in the Saturn and let it run for a bit.  Then hubby took it for a little run around the neighborhood, it worked great.  Brent and hubby put the radiator and fan guard and hoses back in Elroy but couldn't start him because the battery was dead.  It was starting to rain, so they didn't want to jump it, so they came inside and I went on a lunch run to Wendy's.  Brent passed on lunch but I got food for hubby and one of the new Strawberry Chicken Salads for me.  I did use both pouches of salad dressing they put in but forgot to put on the nuts and didn't eat all the chicken.  I also had a large Coke.
Hubby put the gas treatment in my parents car and let it sit.  Then later he started it up and drove around the neighborhood, it drove fine.  The engine light was still on so I called my mom and asked if she felt comfortable with us driving the car back over to them or should we call AAA and get a tow.  She said to wait until my dad got home and he would call us back to tell us what to do.  So when dad got home, I told him what the car had done, what we did and he said to just drive the car back.  Hubby drove the PT Cruiser and I followed in the Saturn.  On the drive over, the engine light went out.
When we got to my parents house, dad looked up what happened and found out since the engine light went out, it was probably some bad gas and the gas treatment and some of the highest octane gas cured the problem.  So bing!  Problem solved!
After we dropped off the car, hubby took me to Cracker Barrel, for which I have been craving their Roast Beef dinner with mashed potatoes and brown gravy, coleslaw, and fried apples.  And I had some strawberry lemonade.  Yeah!
We got home and watched the first episode of True Detective.  Then we watched some Modern family and vegged out.

Today was a resting day.  It started out sleeping in late this morning, waiting for the clock to turn over to 1115, when I had to get out of bed and jump in the shower to get ready for church.  So I laid there and closed my eyes until hubby told me that it was time.  So I got up and jumped in the shower.  Not our bathroom shower, no, our bathroom shower leaks into the downstairs bathroom ceiling and now the downstairs bathroom ceiling has a big hole in it and we can't use our bedroom bathroom.  We have to use the hall bathroom shower.  We can still use the sink and the toilet in the bedroom bathroom.  Just not the shower.
So I get dressed in my casual dress and knee high brown boots, and took a sweater with me in case it was too cool outside as this dress didn't have sleeves.  Thought it was a little cool, I was fine and when we got to church, it was downright warm in there, a little too warm.  But I never needed my sweater.  Hubby was pretty warm and the sermon was long, longer than normal.  From all the extra sitting, hubby's back started to spasm, and when it does this, it makes him have to go to the bathroom, it makes him feel like he has to poop.  So twice he had to get up and go to the bathroom.
By the time the mass was over, I am Catholic so our church services are called mass, hubby was in quite a bit of pain and was sweating profusely.  We got to the car and he hurriedly drove home, thinking he was going to be very sick by the time we got there.  Luckily, he didn't have to stop too much and rivets of swear were running down his face by the time we got home.  He quickly ran up to the bathroom.  After I brought him a drink, his muscle relaxer and a pain pill, he jumped into a hot bath to see if he could get the back spasms to stop.
Eventually, his back stopped being quite so bad so he got out of the tub and got into the bed with a heating pad.  That is were he spent the afternoon, napping and relaxing.  I stayed by his side, occasionally taking the dogs out.
We didn't eat dinner until about 9pm and then we had eggs, bacon and fried potatoes.  Afterwards, we went back up to bed to watch tv.

Friday, May 22, 2015

Today was an organization day.   No, not for myself but for my Red Hat Queen, Judithmary.  She needed me to come over and help her sort through a bunch of Red Hat stuff she bought off of eBay.  A lot of it was going into our chapter's auction we will have sometime in the future, and some of it she was going to keep.  There was a lot of hats, gloves, jewelry, material and trims.  There was even pantalooms, one for Judithmary and one for Joanne, our Vice Queen.
Judithmary picked me up about 11 and took me back to her house where we worked for a couple of hours.  We got everything unpacked, straightened out some organization drawers and trays, and rearranged some fabrics.  Joanne came over and coveted some of the fabric Judithmary had gotten in so she offered to buy it from her if it would fit her window at home.  Judithmary also makes Red Hat dolls and Joanne had bought one of them, then took another to show off to another Red Hat chapter in another state that she was going out to visit.
Judithmary took me home and I iced my ankle for a long time, it was sore from getting up and down and standing so much.  So while I was eating leftover orange chicken and rice for lunch, I had my leg up on the chair next to me with an ice pack on my ankle.
While I was sitting upstairs, I heard a truck pull up next door and went to the window and looked out, we have new neighbors moving in!  I threw on some shoes and went over to meet them.  They literally just pulled up and we just starting to unload the pick up.  Dave and Soong Jung and their two children.  Dave is a disabled vet who is a motivational speaker.  He and Soong Jung manage their own investments and just moved in the area from out of state and want to find a horse farm to buy.  So while they are looking for that, they are doing a month to month rental next door.  Dave and I spent a little time talking and getting to know each other while the kids and wife started unloading.  They must have only seen the house online because they had to find a code for the door to get the key.  I exchanged phone numbers and let them get on with their day.  When I got home, I called our other neighbor, Janice, and filled her in on the new neighbors.
I have high hopes for this weekend, there are several things I would like to accomplish.  Tomorrow, Saturday, hubby and I are going to buy the parts to fix the Saturn, the radiator and the hoses.  Then we are also going to buy the coolant for the Saturn and for Elroy, my Chevy C10 pick up that has been waiting to be put back together.  And I am hoping we get that done here this weekend.  Then I have to call AAA and have them come out and inflate my tire.  Or take me to Big O Tires and have them fix the flat.  Or they will tell me I need a new tire and tell me how much it will cost.  That is what I need to know for the beginning of the month.  Today I called the insurance company, Amica, and changed the insurance on Elroy from parked to road worthy on Monday.  It will raise our rates about $35.  That means we will be paying $180 a month for liability coverage for two old cars but that is after I had 3 accidents in the past year.  So I will have to pay high rates for quite a while.
This weekend I also will be working on the craft room to get it organized.  Hubby and I will have to entertain ourselves at home and the library until the end of the month because we are out of money. This weekend I need to add up all our payday loans, the tax bills and the money we owe to medical.  Medical wants us to send them a copy of the bankruptcy (The Big B) discharge paperwork so we can figure out what all we currently owe and they can write off the rest.
Tonight hubby and I got frisky in the kitchen, he really loved the dress I was wearing, and the fact I was cooking Beef Stroganoff when he walked in!  The man is a true romantic!

Thursday, May 21, 2015

Today was a thinking day.  Hubby didn't have to be into work until noon but Iw as going to drop him off at 11 so I could go to a luncheon at my church called Golden Agers at 1130am.  But I thought, when I woke up, that I wanted to sleep in, so we reset the alarm and I didn't get up until 11.  Hubby got up, got ready for work, he was working in Colorado Springs today, and left.  My dad also left at 7am from his house, to go to a dog show in WY.  Mom stayed here, in her house, with their two other dogs, because they think that Lacy may be preggers, and they don't want to expose her to other dogs in case they have the canine flu.  Or some other nasty that would cause problems with the pregnancy.  See, they had her inseminated, twice, and won't really know if she is pregnant until the middle of June, when they take her up to the vet and have her x-rayed.  The x-ray will show little spines and they are hoping for a litter of 5 or more.
So today I spent the day thinking about how unfair it was that as soon as I started walking our dogs, I stepped off the curb, twisted my ankle and fell.  I sat for a couple of minutes with sharp shooting pains, then got up and continue walking the dogs home.  Then I iced my ankle but went back out later that day and helped my neighbor walk her her dogs.  My ankle swelled up that evening and I iced again.  Hubby bought me an ACE bandage to wrap it.  I took the bandage off for Cassie's wedding so I could wear my boots.  Cassie really loved my dress, even though it wasn't purple, it was teal with a small pattern with some brown in it that matched my boots.  As hubby pointed out, I am the Mother, I'm Mommah, and I need to stand out from the wedding party.
Yesterday I worked at the Zoo as a Docent and had to walk up a hill to get to Primate World.  Well this morning my ankle was throbbing a little so I had to ice it.  I stayed in bed and played on the computer, read a Janice Evanovich book, got two packages ready for hubby to mail off for me, and ate.  I did make the bed but stayed in my jammie, feeling sorry for myself.  When I woke up I was feeling wonderful, full of energy and vigor.  But my ankle dragged me down.  I wanted to walk the dogs before it rained in the morning.  Stupid ankle.  The doctor did call and tell me it wasn't broken and it could take up to 6 weeks to heal.  Yesterday made a week since it happened.  But since I can walk with it, I am going to try to walk the dogs next week, give it another week to heal.
I had plans to work in the craft room today but didn't want to stand more than necessary.  Tomorrow my Red Hat Queeen, Judithmary, is going to pick me up at 11am and we will go over to her house and sort through a bunch of Red Hat Stuff for the auction we are going to have.  She assured me that I would be able to do most of it sitting.  Then if I am feeling up to it in the afternoon, I will work on the craft room.
Around 4pm, hubby came home with Arby's, a medium Beef N Cheddar for me, curly fries and a large Pepsi, and we ate dinner.  We finished at 430 and then he had to leave.  We talked about a documentary that he put on last night as I was going to sleep about a woman who survived being flung out of a plane at 30,000 feet, still strapped to her seat, and survived.  She landed in the jungles of Peru and walked for 10 days to get rescued.  It was a very moving show and I wish I had been able to watch it.  I listened to some of it before I fell asleep.  Hubby stayed up until 4am, when I woke up with 4am with terrible stomach cramps that sent me into the bathroom a couple of times.
Hubby came home around 9, we talked for a little bit, he hung out in his office for a while, trying to figure out how to download a video from my cell phone onto my computer.  Oh, and smoking pot.  He is a pot smoker, not a lot, but it does help settle his stomach and keep his depression at bay.  He functions, holds down a job, parents and is a loving husband.  He doesn't sit and smoke, stare off into space being stoned, that's not why he smokes.  But since it is legal here, and he does have a medical mj license, all the power to him.  Even with our mounting debts to the State and IRS, he only spend $80 a month on it, just as much as he would spend on prescriptions to cover the same ailments.
To cheer myself up a little, I watched videos of tea cup piggies on YouTube.  And Ellen.  She makes me laugh.

David Letterman's Last Show, Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Today was a zoo day.  This morning hubby was staying in Colorado Springs, he is working in Denver most of this week and next week cause his underling put in his notice and quit last Friday.  So today he was going to be in Colorado Springs and that meant that I could have the car today.  And since today was Wednesday, he was working close, which meant he didn't go in until noon today.  Yeah, we got to sleep in!
So we finally get up, block the dogs off on the main floor only since the last time I left them alone and allowed them to go upstairs, Baby pulled all the covers off the bed and dug into the bottom sheet.  This time she didn't rip the bottom sheet but she had ripped 3 bottom sheets previously.  And Cookie has been pooping in the house lately so that's why I blocked the dogs from the lower level also.  And I was only going to be gone from the house for about 5 hours today so they would be fine.
So we left the house, in my parents' PT Cruiser that we borrowed, and went to both our banks to take some money out of one account and put it in another to cover a bill that came in unexpectedly.  Then we stopped at Kum and Go and got sodas, any size only $1 all summer, and a corn dog for lunch.  Then I dropped hubby off at work and headed to the Zoo in my Docent uniform.  Since today was a little cool and rainy, I wore my long sleeved polo shirt, my elastic waisted tan pants, and my official Zoo multi-pocket vest.  Normally I don't wear the vest but the Zoo has been cracking down on the exact uniform.  So I wore the vest.
I arrived at the Zoo, The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and found out that on Trip Advisor, we have received once again an Excellent rating for the 5th year in a row which got us into the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame.  So I got out my umbrella and walked up to Primate World.  The doctor had called me earlier and told me my ankle isn't broken so just keep it wrapped and walk carefully.  Still elevate it and ice it when I can, so I do that in the late afternoon and evenings.
So I walked carefully up the hill to Primate World and took an Orangutan skull that was a bone clone out of the cart and set myself up in the corner by the mother, Hadiah, and her baby, Ember.  I told people how old the baby was, 7 months, who Tujoh was, the dad.  The one question I couldn't answer was how many vertebra do orangutans have.  I told her that I wasn't sure but I thought they had the same as humans.
So I worked at the Zoo in Primate World for 3 hours and then drove back to hubby's work and had him take me home.  We stopped at Walgreen's and picked up my prescription and an ankle brace, the doctor said it would work better than wrapping it with an ACE bandage.   Better support.
Then we went home and I sat upstairs and iced my ankle, fed the beasties, and made orange chicken for dinner when hubby got home at 9.  Then we watched tv and watched David Letterman's last show.  We don't normally watch talk shows at night but it was his special and it was as important as watching the last Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.  History.

Monday, May 18, 2015

Today was a down day.  Not down as depressed but I was a little of that today too.  There is something about looking forward to something for so long, like Christmas, and then after it, you experience a bit of a let down.  Now it's over and all the hard work you put into it has paid off and now you have to figure out what to do next.  So it's a bit of a let down.  Now that Cassie's wedding is over, the bridal bouquet is made and used, I have to figure out what to do next.
I have some leftover material and 10 leftover wired broaches so I have decided to make the original bridal bouquet that I planned for Cassie, a pine cone bouquet.  I've got an idea for making fabric flowers that is a little bit different.  I have a lot of pine cones to use.  Then I have to put away the extra table that I have set up for cutting material.
Today I stayed in my jammie, took a 2 hour nap and made dinner in the crockpot.  Cabbage, chicken and a jar of spaghetti sauce.
This afternoon I called my insurance company as my therapist has submitted claims for my therapy but keeps getting rejected.  It was such a positive experience, and they made moves to resolve the problem, so I left a message for the supervisor and told her what a great time I had.
Tomorrow I have to go to therapy and then my 6 month doctor's appointment for my diabetes.  I have to talk to her about when I go walking about a couple of toes starting to hurt.

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Today was a let down day.  Yesterday was the big day for the wedding for Cassie and Drew.  Today we got the video put up on YouTube of the ceremony.  Just search for Cassie and Drew's Wedding.  Today we were dealing with the broken car.  Turns out we cracked the radiator and it needs to be replaced.  And our friend, Brent, didn't have time to do it today.  He stopped by on his way back from the funeral for his business partner who committed suicide and Brent is the one who found the body.
So we are going to be using my parent's car for the week, at least.  Hubby has to go to Denver Monday and Tuesday and is going to try to be in the Springs for Wednesday and Thursday.  He has graduation to do on Friday and Saturday in Denver so will be driving a truck and I will have the car.  Taht's when I plan on working at the zoo doing the Docent thing to get in my hours before the end of the month.  I currently have 24.5 hours and need 5.5 hours more to work, so 6 more hours.  Two sessions of 3 hours each.  Maybe 3 just to be safe.
I need to see about getting my truck up and running too, so we don't have this problem again.  Tomorrow I think I will call AAA and see if they will come fill the air in the flat tire.  I asked hubby to put the truck back together today but he didn't want to so he didn't.  He thinks they will have time next week.  I know they won't.
We did go out to dinner at Village Inn with the intention of grocery shopping afterwards but both were too tired to go so came home.  Now that it's 10pm, hubby has enough energy to go so he went.  I stayed home.  Like I will for the next two days.

Cassie's Wedding Day, Saturday, May 16, 2015

Today was a Wedding day!  IT actually all started Friday.  Cassie wanted me to come up and spend the night with her at Jack's house, with her and one of her maid of honors, Miranda.  So hubby had to work half a day and then got off at noon.  I got ready and packed, and when he got home, we left and went out to lunch together to celebrate.  We went to Cracker Barrel and had the roast beef dinner with sides, so good!  I only ate half of mine and took the rest with me up to Longmont to snack on later.
Then hubby and I started driving up I25 to Denver.  As soon as we got to Denver, he hit construction traffic.  Now we needed to get all the way through Denver but it was stop and go.  We made it about half way through when we noticed the car started to over heat.  We got off and got onto Federal, made it up to Federal and 26th when we spotted a 7-11 and pulled over for gas and to let the car cool off.  We pulled up to the gas pump and turned off the car.  Hubby popped the hood and suddenly steam came up and coolant poured from under the car.  The engine was bleeding green.  We were hosed.
We pulled out our AAA card and looked at it, it said valid until May 15, 2015, so this was our last day of our premium membership.  Premium membership would tow us up to 100 miles so that was important.  So I immediately called Cassie and asked her to come pick me up and then called AAA to schedule a tow truck to come get hubby and the car and take it back to Colorado Springs.  After that, I called my parents and asked to borrow their PT Cruiser while we fixed ours.  They said ok.  That would also allow hubby to come back up to Longmont for the wedding the next morning and for us to stay after the wedding for the family dinner at the Gromala's before Cassie and Drew headed off on their short honeymoon.
The tow truck arrived before Cassie did so hubby went across the street and talked to the firemen at the fire station and they agreed I could wait with my stuff in the lobby until Cassie came and got me.  They were very friendly and checked on me often to make sure I didn't need anything to drink and that I was comfortable.  When Cassie arrived, a lot of the firemen came over and said goodbye.
Cassie, Emily and Miranda picked me up and on the way back to Longmont, we stopped a few places to pick up a dress and shoes.  Then we ordered pizza and wings and I bought the dinner for everybody.  We arrived where we were staying for the night and hung out.  Emily had to go back to her house and her husband and baby, then Miranda went to bed and it was just me and Cass.  I was tired so we didn't stay up very late and soon went to bed.  I read for a little bit and then Cassie wasn't tired and ready for bed so she went back down stairs while I went to sleep.  I should have followed her and talked about marriage and what to expect but they have been living together for almost 2 years now and I didn't feel it was pressing and when I take my night pills, I pretty much end up sleeping straight through.
The next morning, Miranda and Cassie got up and we all had breakfast then they headed over to the salon to get their hair done.  I stayed at Jack's house, finished eating breakfast and watching tv until Holly showed up.  Holly, the most wonder fullest of all friends, agreed to come up and photograph the wedding for gas money, which I plan on giving her on Tuesday.
I had also forgotten to bring the bouquets up when I came up on Friday so Holly picked them up from hubby Friday night and brought them up with her Saturday morning.  Holly got all sorts of interesting artistic shots of the dress, the shoes and the bouquets, along with the rings.  When the girls got back, we got our make up done by Cassie's friend.  Then we got dressed.  By this time, hubby had shown up and helped out with last minute details.  Then we all piled into cars and headed over to the park.
We arrived at the park and everyone was sitting on the blankets on the ground, the tulle was wrapped around the posts put into the ground and the arch was overlooking the lake.  There was an aisle outlines for us to walk Cassie down.  We got her father, David, and then the two of us walked Cassie down to the alter, where Drew was waiting with his groomsmen and the bridesmaids and flower girl were waiting on Cassie's side.  Music was playing but for the life of me, I don't remember what it was.  I know I was wearing a grin from ear to ear and was trying not to cry.
The minister, Liza, was telling a story about the kids, weaving a tale and love story.  The ceremony was about half an hour long but ended far too soon.  My baby was married but she will always be my little girl.  There was music and food and snacks, people taking pictures and Cassie and Drew making the rounds.  Pictures were being taken by my dad and Holly and groups were assembled.  It will take about a week before we get the cds amassed and copied.
Hubby and I finally made it home about 10pm.  We went to the family dinner held at the Gromalas and socialized.  We presented the honeymoon to Drew and Cassie, left the other presents for them to open when they get back.  Reminded them that they will need to write thank you notes for everything.
Hubby was exhausted so I made the drive back, listening to country music.  We stopped at Walmart to pick up a cable to download the camera tomorrow and I found some notepads on clearance for $2.50 so I picked up all they had for gifts.
When we got home, we fed the beasties, I spent time with Kira petting and loving on her since I missed her so much.  We watched SNL then Moscow on the Hudson and went to sleep.

Thursday, May 14, 2015

Today was a great day!  It started off last night, about midnight, I was figuring out if I had to get up in the morning or could sleep in, I remembered to look at the calender and saw that I had the Prayer Shawl Meeting at our church in the morning at 9am!  Yeah!  So I had hubby set the alarm for 830 as I only had to get dressed, brush my teeth and leave.  I found out when I got there that we were celebrating Father Jim's birthday so there was coffee cake and muffins.  I had brought my own bottle of carbonated water so didn't worry about getting any juice.
Now yesterday afternoon I spent all afternoon and evening working on Cassie's bridal bouquet.  I had spent 3 days wiring the broaches by cutting 2 feet of wire, folding it in half and then attaching it to half of a broach.  Then you twist the wire.  Next you do the same thing on the other side of the broach.  Then you bring the two twisted wires together in the middle of the broach and twist them into one stem.
Yesterday it was time to make the fabric flowers around the stems of the broaches.  I started off by setting up my fabric table, to lay out the fabric.  I started with the cream colored fabric.  I cut the strips too big the first time and it made the flower so big, so I started over and found out that if I cut the fabric 4 inches wide, I could fold it over and hot glue it and I could roll it.  Ok, so the fabric flowers weren't so much flowers as rolls of fabric with broaches on them, but then I would tape the bottom third of the flower with masking tape and wind it down to the stem.  I had 26 broaches wired and got 15 flowered, then I decided to put them on the base to see how many more I would need.  I got almost all the flowers in the base and arranged.  I was starting to look really nice!  I called hubby over to help me, he held the bouquet, I tweeked and adjusted it.  Then he twisted the stems and held it up and I taped the heck out of the stems to make the handle.  I figured out a good length, then taped some more.  Then it set it down and cut the stems off to the right length.  I taped up the cut end really well to make it smooth.
The next step was to take some 4 inch lace and wind it in and around the fabric flowers.  I tucked it in and around and it was the perfect touch.  I took some other lace and wrapped it around the bottom between the fabric flowers and the base.  It was almost done but done enough for the night.
So today, I finished the bridal bouquet, finishing off the handle with white ribbon.   I wanted to keep it simple and comfortable for Cassie to carry.  It's a bit heavy so she will definitely have to hold it with both hands.  I traded the turquoise premade bouquets for white bouquets and still have a matching purple bouquet for Cassie for the bouquet toss.  I wonder if she got a garter for the groom to toss?  Oh well, will ask her tomorrow.  Tonight she is out on her bachlorette party with her two best friends.
So today I made a deal with the neighbor whose dogs I was watching to help me walk all three dogs of mine this morning and then I would walk with her with her dogs this afternoon.  When walking my dogs down to the park, I stepped off the curb and sprained my ankle.  I walked it off but iced it when I got home.  Later that afternoon I laced up my shoes and went back out for a long walk with Janice and her dogs.  My ankle was definitely stiff and sore when I got home.  As the night progressed, my ankle started swelling and getting stiffer and hurting more.  So I asked hubby to bring home an ace bandage to wrap it when he got home.  He did and now it still hurts.  Not sure how it is going to feel tomorrow but I hope I can still walk.  I won't be able to wear the wrap during the wedding while I am wearing my boots.  No matter what, I am walking my daughter down the aisle!

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Today was an encouraging day.  I started off the day by getting up at 930 and leaving for therapy.  I met with Steve and talked about Cassie's wedding, the stress she is under and how she takes that stress out on me, like her not liking that my dress for the wedding is not purple.  I remember my first wedding, the photographer caught a shot of me with my hand clenched in a fist, pulled back, with me glaring at my mom.  My mom had been trying to get my headpiece on by sticking bobbypins in my head and I snapped.  The photographer caught the moment.  I must remind myself of how I felt at that particular time and give Cassie lots of latitude.
The other thing that Steve and I talked about was how Frank was staying with us again and I was having stressed feeling about it.  I was afraid that Frank was going to be staying with us for a long time but that fear was unfounded because this afternoon, hubby told me that Frank's girlfriend, Lisa, said he could come back home tomorrow so hubby is taking him back in the morning.
We, Steve and I, that the main thing I needed to concentrate on was making the bridal bouquet for Cassie and concentrate on the wedding.
Hubby stayed home today resting and recovering.  He ate slowly at first and then ate a full dinner of pizza from Papa Murphy's.

Monday, May 11, 2015

Today was a nauseous day.  Not for me, but for hubby.  Today was the day of the colonoscopy.  It started off at 4am when hubby woke up and drank his gatorade and miralax.  He drank all 64 oz of it then laid in bed sipping water, getting up and going to the bathroom and emptying out his bowels.  He had to stop drinking at 10am, which was 4 hours before we had to be at the medical center.
We got dressed and left the house at 130pm.  We stopped at the gas station so I could get a soda then we arrived at the medical center.  I filled out the paperwork for hubby and he signed it.  They took us back and hubby got undressed and into bed.  The doctors talked to him, the nurse put in an iv and I kissed him goodbye and went out to wait.  His colonoscopy was scheduled for 3pm but they got him back at 230, half and hour early!  I crocheted and watched HGTV.
They came and got me about 45 minutes later, hubby was awake and talkative.  The nurse went over the findings.  Hubby had this procedure because he has been suffering on an off for months from rectal bleeding and with being over 50, they really have to check it out.  So they showed us pictures of his colon, with a map of where each picture came from.  They did find a flat polyp.  They excised it and sent it off to the lab for a biopsy and we should get a report in 10 to 14 days on what it is.  They found evidence of hubby's diverticulitis, but fortunately, the spots were not inflamed.  We thanked them for the report and left.
Hubby got queasy in the car.  I drove as carefully as I could but he was nauseous by the time we got home.  Once we got home, he started throwing up.  After a couple of hours and it didn't get better, I called the medical center and the doctor called in an anti-nausea medication.   He took that but still is having tummy troubles, still soaking in the tub to settle his stomach and still throwing up.  Good thing he took tomorrow off already.  Poor guy!  He could only eat half a popsicle.  Then he threw it up.  I ate the other half.
I told Cassie about my dress for the wedding but since it isn't purple, she isn't happy and got off the phone with me really fast.  Tomorrow when I make the bouquet, I have to use just purple and cream.  She doesn't want the turquoise.

Mother's Day, May 10, 2015

Today was a working day.  Today I was going to get up and go work at the Zoo for the morning then go to church but all that changed when I woke up at 8am.  Hubby asked me what I wanted to do and I told him I wanted to go back to sleep, so I did.  Today was hubby's clear liquid diet day, getting ready for his colonoscopy tomorrow.  So no food for hubby, just liquid.  So I don't know why I didn't go to the Zoo, but I know that early in the morning, I will opt out of plans I make for the day.  And as for church, hubby had to take two laxative pills and I didn't think he could be away from the bathroom for a hour and a half, so we stayed home.  I could have gone by myself but we were snuggled and watching The Closer together and he seemed to need me to stay with him.  He brought me eggs in bed and cheated by eating some himself.
I got woken up by Cassie calling me and wishing me Happy Mother's Day.  She is so sweet and thoughtful!  I later sent a text message to Sarah and wished her happy mother's day also.  I forgot to send a message to Jessica and now I feel bad.  I will have to send one to her tomorrow.
I spent the afternoon twisting wire on the broaches, 9 of them.  I finished them and not a moment too soon as my right index finger is really sore and had a couple of small blisters on it.  The palm of my left hand is sore from where the handle of the flat nose pliers ended.  Wiring up the broaches, all 26 of them, was a long and detailed project.  Today I was watching some YouTube videos on making broach bouquets and found a tip that would have helped me get them done sooner.  You start the wiring by hand, twist it with the pliers to make sure the wire is secured, then tape the end and stick it into the mouth of a drill.  A couple of torques with the drill and the wire is twisted.  Simple.
I was looking up how to make fabric flowers for the wedding bouquet and found a couple of different ways to do it.  I will have to see if I am going to make the flower first, then stick the stem of the broach in it or make the flower around the stem of the broach.  Will have to try it both ways tomorrow and see what works out best.  I found all the lace I bought to put between the flowers so that is nice but I can't find my Hobby Lobby bag with the base of the bouquet and my additional wire. If I can't find it tomorrow, I will have to go buy another base.  And I need to find my third premade bouquet for Cassie to throw.  These are just in case I don't have the time to make Cassie's bridal bouquet and the two bridesmaids bouquets.  I only have a couple of days left to do everything.  At least I have a dress I like and boots to wear with it.  I have earrings that will go with it nicely and we get paid the day I go up for the rehearsal so hubby and I can buy dinner.  Then I will be able to get Cassie's friend to do my make up.  I should buy some lipstick to wear and take with me.
Poor hubby got really hungry mid day and stayed that way all day.  I made him some broth and he ate/drank that.  But he doesn't feel good  and I have stayed with him in the evening.  We are ending the day with watching Deep Space 9 on Netflix.

Friday, May 8, 2015

Today was a starting day.  I started out the day waking up slowly, around 10am.  Let the dogs out and came back to bed to laz for a little longer.  I wasn't quite ready to let go of my dreams.  I really need to start writing them down again as they are deep and meaningful and hard to want to wake up from.  I got up and got on the computer, read a little, called hubby at work.  Last night hubby called and said our friend, Frank, was coming home with him as Frank's girlfriend, Lisa, thought he was having an affair with another man and she wanted him gone.  Hubby talked to her several times yesterday and she said she wanted him gone for a couple of days.  Just how long this couple of days is, who knows.  Hubby was not going to let Frank be homeless and I agree, it wouldn't be the christian thing to do.  For whosoever takes care of the least of my brothers...
So this morning Frank went with hubby off to work, as Frank's job is just off the same street that hubby's university is and Frank was going to see if he could get more hours and pick up his paycheck.  Come to find out that when Frank had a baby girl many, many years ago, he never paid child support and now the state of Maine has found him.  According to hubby, 40% of Frank's gross paycheck is going to pay back the state, so out of his paycheck, he had $19.00.  He gave us $15.00.  Frank also is on food stamps and $50 of it left so that he will spend on food to stay here.
At lunch, hubby brought Frank back, he doesn't work again until Monday.  I thought Frank has a good job, or at least a job to support himself but hubby didn't tell me until now that Frank only works about 15 hours a week.  Frank needs to find another job.  But in the meantime we will do what we need to do to make it work.  Frank is going to make himself useful in the house.  So this afternoon he cleaned the kitchen, emptied the dishwasher, swept the floor and pulled out some meat that he brought with him last night.  He also cooked dinner.
About 2pm, I went downstairs and started looking for the stuff I needed to make Cassie's wedding bouquet.  I found all the broaches, found the wire and masking tape and a lot of the other things I need.  I turned on the tv in the kitchen for noise and finished looking through my supplies.  I put away a lot of yarn.  Then I sat down at my newly cleaned off worktable that hubby did for me and started to remember how to do the bouquet.  The first step was to wire the broaches.  I remember seeing a YouTube video on doing this, making a broach bouquet.  You take two long pieces of wire, bend one in half, and wrap around a section of broach, twisting the wire.  You do this on opposite sides of the broach, then you twist the two wires together, making a stem.  I will be doing this for another day, at least.
I was terrified of starting this project, being able to see it in my head how it can come out but scared to start to prove if I could really do it or not.  The first broach I did took a long time, just getting started and doing the twisting.  The more I do the easier it is getting and the faster I am getting.  After hubby got off of work, a little early, that was nice, he brought down his ipad and set it up for me so I could watch tv right there at the table.  Tomorrow I'm going to see if he will let me watch it all afternoon.
So we have been looking for the dress I bought to wear to the wedding and we found it.  I went upstairs to try it on and even though it was size 16, it had been altered and didn't fit me at all.  Bummer!  I had the alterations all planned and what I was going to wear with it.  Now tomorrow hubby and I are going out dress shopping, on a limited budget.
Today I had to call our mail order prescription company and order two more prescriptions that I will be out of in a a little more than a week.  Well, we had to pay off our bill to them, $90 and then they required that I pay for the two prescriptions also, $86.50.  That was $90 we weren't expecting to have to spend.  So that left us with around $60 to get us through until next week.  And I have to buy a dress with it.
Tomorrow morning hubby and I are going to get up and walk the dogs if it isn't raining, then go to the thrift stores to see if I can find a dress.  Then if I can't find one at the thrift stores, we will go to Ross.

Thursday, May 7, 2015

Today was a hailing day.  Today I got up this morning to go off to do a fasting blood sugar test and a pee test at the medical center.  Hubby didn't have to work until later in the day so he got up and went with me.  We got up at 845, showered and left.  We arrived at the medical center and I bought a bottle of water so I could pee.  They got the blood on the first try and I was happy!  But when I went into the bathroom to do the pee test, I got the cup filled but when I went to flush the toilet, it started to overflow!  I was totally mortified!  I had to run out and tell the technician.
That over, we stopped back at home so I could get the letter from the attorney and we could go there and get the bankruptcy straightened out.  We got a letter from the attorney last week saying we had to take a financial budgeting course but when I called the attorney she said that our discharge came through.  Then this week we got the discharge.  When we stopped by the attorney's she said the same thing, that nothing else was needed.
We left the attorney's and went to Michael's for sturdier wire and masking tape.  I needed it for making Cassie's fabric flowers for the bridal bouquet.  Tomorrow I have to start it.  Tomorrow I am going to move the tv into the craft room to watch tv while I work on the bouquet.
We ended up going to Dairy Queen for a 6 piece chicken strip dinner for lunch.  I was good, I didn't get a blizzard like I wanted to.  Then hubby dropped me off at home and went to work.
By the time we got home, it started to rain again.  I did get in a good nap and woke up in time to watch the massive amounts of hail.  It rained so much hail that the interstate traffic came to a standstill.  The hail was in droves.  They ended up shutting down part of the highway and pulling out the snowplows to move it so the cars could drive on the roads!
Our old roommate ended up come back home with hubby tonight.  The girlfriend he has been living with, and with whom he put his name on the birth certificate of her baby girl, that he did not father, kicked him out, again.  Way back when, 4 years ago, Lisa had kicked Frank out and he tried to commit suicide so we took him in and helped him to get back up on his feet.  But he couldn't get a job then he got a job and lost it.  Anyway, his father died and he inherited some money so he got involved with another woman and moved down to Florida.  We were happy to see him go at that point.  I swore we wouldn't take him back in again.  But here we are now, Lisa thinks Frank is having an affair on her so she has been talking to hubby about it.  At first she thought it was with another woman but now she is thinking it is with a man.  And hubby just doesn't believe it.  So when Frank called and said he needed a place to stay for a few days, hubby told him it was ok, after talking to me.  What choice did I have?  I told him it was only for a few days and he has to keep his job.  If he still needs a place to stay, we will talk about letting him rent the room here again but only if he keeps his job.  He loses his job, he has to leave.
This stressed me out and so when I got my new catalog from Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, I went shopping.  We had just pulled out two more payday loans and paid off one, made a payment on another and deposited the rest of the money in our checking account.  I really didn't need to spend any money but this was just blowing off stress.
I talked to Cassie about what she is going to do with her name.  Will she keep her name, Cassie Taylor, hyphen her name, Cassie Taylor-Gromala, or change her name, Cassie Gromala?  She is still thinking about what she wants to do so we tried out the complete name change and I called her Mrs Gromala.  She likes the sound of that.   She is going to figure it out before the wedding in 8 days.
Tomorrow I will be starting on Cassie's wedding bouquet.  The only thing stopping me is my own fear.  I will also be either taking the dogs out on a walk or walking on the treadmill.  I got my weight down to 190lb by walking and watching what I have been eating so I don't want to stop.

Cinco de Mayo, May 5, 2015

Today was a Cinco de Mayo day!  I was told that Cinco de Mayo fell on Taco Tuesday.  And this is what we have been training for.  Haha!
Even though hubby was working the afternoon and evening in Denver until 830pm, he still had to go into the Colorado Springs office at 9 this morning.  So I had to get up early and take him in, dropp him off then go to my therapy session with Steve.
In talking to Steve, we discussed Cassie's upcoming wedding and the tension that I am feeling about starting on making her bridal bouquet.  I am scared that it won't turn out very good.  That I will hate it and that she will hate it.  I know the wire I got isn't strong enough for this and I need a thicker wire.  But tomorrow I am going to experiment with what I have and see if I can't make it work.  We also talked about the money problems hubby and I are having, me doing everything I want for the wedding for Cassie and Drew.  All our money is spent and it is only the 5th.  We aren't able to pay for the dentist this month and I have to call them and tell them.  Then I have to promise them a double payment on June 1st.
Today was the first day I am taking my steroids for my allergies.  It has made me anxious and on edge.  It was also the day that I had no memory of taking my phone with me and then couldn't find it.  Hubby left his phone at his office so when he went to Denver, we had to communicate by facebook messaging.  I had him call my phone so I could locate it and then Teresa called him and told him she found my phone in his office too.
I spent the day in isolation, cut off from communicating with anyone except hubby on occasion.  I had so much to do today, people to call, text messages to exchange, but all that had to wait until tonight, 10pm, when hubby was able to pick up our phones from the Colorado Springs office and then bring them home.  Hubby did do my the favor of calling my mom and talking to her, explaining what happened with my phone and she said I could call her when I got it back at 10pm.  My parents are leaving tomorrow in their RV to go to Albuquerque, NM for a dog show.  They show english bulldogs.
Hubby got home at 10pm and then made a quick dinner but it was a fail.  We ended up eating mashed potatoes and gravy.  The salsberry steaks he made were pretty inedible.  But we laughed about it and agreed.
We ended up the night by watching the pilot episode of Deep Space 9 on Netflix.

Star Wars Day, May 4, 2015

Today was a Star Wars Day.  May the forth be with you!  May the force be with you!  Get it?  Silly me but when they go so far as to mention this silly joke on the news, you have to say it to everybody you know.
I woke up softly, not to an alarm, and did it in time to be able to spend a little time with hubby.  I went downstairs and asked if he had fed the animals and he said no.  I looked and all the dogs' dishes were filled with dry food so I told him he was overfeeding the dogs again.  I gathered up all the dishes and took them back into the garage and dumped them back into the dog food bag.  Then I measured out the right amount for them to have in the morning.  Cookie and Kira are getting fatter and they were already fat.  That's two of our dogs, our small dogs.  Baby is our big puppy and she is doing fine, she is not an overeater.  She is submissive and gets pushed away from her food by Cookie and Kira.  Sometimes I have to stand guard to protect her so she can eat.
Anywhos, Hubby got really pissy and started arguing with me and I wasn't going to argue with him and I told him that.  So I kissed him and went back upstairs, told him to drive carefully and have a good day.  He fed the rest of the beasties and came upstairs to kiss me goodbye, still grumpy but I kept my cool.  Then he left.
I turned on the tv and 5 minutes later, I hear the front door open and hubby came back.  He apologized and said he was being an ass and would I please forgive him?   I said sure and kissed him.  He then went and got me a soda, a Cherry Limeade, from the gas station.  Then he left for real and went to Denver for the day and the evening.  He has to work in Denver to cover for one of his staff that is taking today and tomorrow off.
I watched the rest of Saving Grace on Netflix and was sad.  Sad for two reasons.  First reason was that was the end of the series, second reason was Grace died in it and I wasn't expecting it.  But I had taken my pills on time this morning so I wasn't sobbing.
I had plans to take my dogs out on a walk this afternoon but by the time I finished watching Saving Grace, it had started to rain.  And it rained all afternoon and into the evening.  Our lawn could really use it but it did cause some flooding around Colorado Springs.
I didn't think that all the walking I have been doing, walking 20-25 minutes everyday that it didn't rain, had been doing much but after I changed into my jammies this evening, I weighed myself.  I was down to 190lb!  Yeah!  So that is incentive enough for me to keep walking my dogs.

Sunday, May 3, 2015

Today was an Avenger's day.  Yes, that's right, hubby and I joined the millions of comic book fans in attending the new Avenger's movie tonight, this weekend was the opening weekend for the movie.  Hubby said it was the third biggest opening.  It was really good.  To prep for the movie, last night we watched the first movie.  When the first movie came out, I sent hubby to the movie with his friend, Frank.  I wasn't real into to seeing a comic book movie at that time.  But now I am in a much better frame of mind and if my hubby has an interest in it, I'm going to want to experience that with him.
We took our large popcorn container back to the movies, we had bought it the last time we were there and it has a free refill.  We took it home and finished eating the popcorn there then held onto the container.  The concession guy told us that even though it says it is only refillable the same night you bought it, we could bring it back and they would refill it.  Also the last time we went to the movies we bought a refillable cup that only costs $3.50 to fill.  Since hubby and I each usually get a large soda, we pay to fill up this cup twice and it is cheaper.  So we took the cup back and the only cost to us besides the tickets, $19.00 for both of us, was to fill the soda twice, $7.00.
This morning I went to church by myself.  Hubby had woken up just before the alarm and thought it was much earlier than it was so went downstairs and fed the animals, then can back upstairs to do his morning constitutional, in other words, go to the bathroom for 45 minutes.  But we didn't have the time to do that and go to church.  Plus the bleeding he is having is getting darker and heavier.  He is having more gut pain and his bottom is hurting.  So I told him I would go to church by myself today.  And I was so glad I did go as today was the day of First Communion.  They had a special mass to celebrate and our priest gave a special talk to all the kids.  It was a great mass.
I got to sleep in this morning for the first time in two weeks and it was really nice.  I did wake up early and got up to go pee but them went back to sleep and dreamed.  I need to start my writing in the morning again to start getting my dreams down.

Saturday, May 2, 2015

Today was an awesome day!  Yes, this morning started off with me waking up at 730am to take care of the neighbor's dogs, Deisel and Kodak, for the next to last time this morning.  I got up, went next door, fed and watered the dogs, opened the curtains, pet and scratched the dogs and then went home, where I got dressed and then hubby drove me to the Zoo, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, for my monthly Docent meeting.  I got on hubby's case when we were driving up because he was driving too fast and switching lanes a lot to get there faster.  I told him we had plenty of time but he was short tempered and tense.  Later I found out that the country music I had put on was giving him a headache.  Not an excuse for him though.  He apologized just as we got there and he dropped me off.  I love him but sometimes I am only human.
The Docent meeting went well and finished up just in time for me to leave.  We spent 45 minutes going over things we need to know for answering questions about our accreditation that ill be going on this summer.  In order to keep our AZA accreditation, or renew it, the people will be out here questioning any of the Docents, volunteers, staff and other representatives of the Zoo and we have to know most of this stuff or we can get bad marks.  And our accreditation is what gets us grants, donors, and memberships.  It helps us with funding and being a part of a reputable SSP, species survival plan, of breeding and conservation.  Our accreditation allows us to get new animals in, participate in animal exchanges and much, much more.  So it's a really big deal.
When I walked down to the front gate to meet hubby, 15 minutes before he usually picks me up, 1115, I mostly expected him not to show up until 1130 but to my surprise, he came walking over to me 5 minutes after I got there.  He arrived early, had to use the bathroom and the gate let him go in to do that since he told them who I was.  Yeah!
We went to lunch at Culver's and I ate half a cheeseburger with everything but mayo and onions.  Then we went to Micael's where I got the last of the stuff I needed for Cassie's wedding bouquet.  Now that I really have to make it, I hope to hell it will come out nice.  Then I got matching yarn for the yarn that Cassie brought me to make her soon to be mother in law's cowl scarves.   There wasn't enough so I bought 4 more skeins.  She will have to pay me back.
Then we went home so I could get ready to meet Judithmary at Holy Apostle's Catholic Church for the special Mother/Daughter tea they were hosting.  Since neither my mother nor my daughter could make it, I invited my friend to come with me.  We ate tiny sandwiches, cookies, homemade mints, brownies and fruit and drank lots of tea.  It was a lot of fun and I did win one of the door prizes, a silver glittery cross.  I put it in my truck.  Elroy.  Which I would like up and running soon.
When I went over to the neighbor's house to walk the dogs later, hubby came with me again, like he has been doing when he is home, and we had a very nice walk.  When we got back, he made a special trip to the gas station for me to get me a Cherry Limeade soda, isn't he just the sweetest?  Then I fed and watered the pups, cleaned up their pooh, and settled in for a visit with the dogs.  I was sitting there watching Property Brothers when my neighbors came home!  I didn't expect them until after midnight but they said no, they were home now.  I had fed the feral cats early too so I am glad I did!  Anyway, I filled them in on what had been going on, made my leave and left.  But not before they paid me another $100 for watching the dogs.  Yeah!
Since hubby and I will be seeing the new Advenger's movie tomorrow, I asked him if we could watch the first one tonight.  He has seen it several times and I haven't seen it at all.
