Today was a thankful day.  I so didn't want to get up this morning.  I woke up before the alarm, as I have been prone to do recently, and I laid there thinking how much I did and did not want to go walking.  But I got up and turned off the alarm as hubby had gotten up much earlier and left to go to work at 830.  So I got dressed and waited for Rose to show up, secretly hoping today would be a day she would oversleep and I would not have to go.  Accountability is one of the reasons I asked her to help me.  Not just because there is no way I can walk all three by myself right now but also so I would have to get up, get dressed and go out and walk.  Rose was prompt.
I leashed up the dogs, they were excited to hear the door bell ring.  But they sat facing the door, wiggling, while I put on the leads.  I handed out Kira and Cookie to Rose, went and got the grocery store bags to put in my back pocket, and leashed up Baby.  Then we were off.  I headed down the street, barely getting my feet to touch the ground as Baby was pulling hard on the leash in the beginning.  She has gotten pretty good at walking and only circled me a dozen times.  Cookie, as usual, was my pooper, as she normally doesn't get out of bed until 10 and when Rose shows up, it's 9, and Cookie hasn't been outside yet.  Being the dutiful dog owner, I bag my poop and carry it to the nearest trash can or home.
We walked the whole Misty Drive today, and as fast as Baby was leading up, managed it in only 25 minutes.  I surprised myself by not being winded at all when we made it home.  The dogs were panting.  My fat, little sausages are all out of shape and need this workout.  Baby isn't overweight but is really enjoying the exercise.  I am hoping to work up to 5 days a week.  That may require hubby and I to take them out on the weekend and that is ok with me.
When we arrived home, Rose and I agreed to meet up on Monday and she went home.  I came in and got some tea.  I wasn't overheated today, it was cooler out so I didn't feel flushed either.  I sat at the computer on my craft table and let the rattie boys out.  Baby is very interested in the rats and sits at attention with her head sitting on the table, hoping for a nose to nose interaction.  The one time it happened, I had looked away for a second and Zeke ended up on the ground.  So I am much more vigilant now, lest we have an accident we all can't walk away from.
Janice, my neighbor, called and asked if I wanted to go out garage sale-ing.  I told her I had $4 in my wallet so sure!  So it took my a couple of minutes to get the rattie boys back in their cage, get shoes on and grab my Kum and Go cup with tea.  Then we were off.  I figured we had food, gas, and it was the weekend, hubby and I were set so I was fine to spend the change in my purse and the $4 in paper money I had.  There really wasn't anything I needed so I figured I would just end up with some books or some baby clothes for the grandkids.
We hit several sales and I was a very frugal shopper!  I didn't count the change I had, just kept reaching in and pulling out change for whatever few items I wanted at each sale.  I supported the two lemonade stands the kids were hosting and walked away with so much.  For $4 in paper money and a lot of change, I got: 4 pairs of 2.25 reader glasses(you know, eye glasses you buy at the drug store to read with?), a set of glass beads, 3 books for the granddaughters, 2 plants, 4 Got Milk puzzle pictures framed with glass, a floor lamp and 20 VHS movies.  The set of glass beads is a brand new package that was never opened that has larger beads and 4 sets of seed beads and bugle beads.  I got it to give to Rose since she is not taking other beads right now.  It was only 50 cents but is worth about $7.  I fire I will give her that and offer to let her borrow my tools.  I also bought some crimp beads.  I need to find my bead board this weekend and offer to lean that to her too.  In July I will start paying her $10 a week to help me walk.
Hubby was home when Janice and I got back from garage sale-ing so it was nice to have him help me bring all the stuff in and then spend some time with him before he had to go back to work.  I tried to pick out VHS movies that I thought he would like but he wasn't really interested in any of them.  Oh well, I tried.  He was impressed with my haul.  It is amazing all the stuff you can get when you hit the sales just right with a little bit of change.
Once hubby went back to work, I wrote my cousin a letter on facebook and then went outside to sit in the swing and read.  Emma, our grey cat, was at the window meowing for me to come out and play with her.  So I pet her, talked to her, swung with her, and read my book for an hour and a half.  By that time the sky was getting overcast and it looked like we were going to get some rain, so I came in.
I watched some episodes of the Little Couple and by then, hubby had come home.  We figured out what we wanted to eat tonight and this weekend and made a quick trip to the store.  We were good and didn't get junk food, which was pretty hard considering we were both hungry.  My impulse purchase was a container of old fashioned potato salad and Ruffles Potato Chips.  I'm sensing a theme.
When we got home, we put away the food and I started dinner.  I hadn't cooked in awhile and I was really craving my Beef Stroganoff.  I take the basic recipe from Dining on a Dime Cookbook that I bought off of LivingOnADime.com and tailor it to us.  Hubby loves it and I have been craving it but steak has been too expensive as of late so I haven't been able to make it.  And tonight we found a one pound steak for $7!  Perfect!  And I add onions and peas to mine to make it a one dish meal.  And the way I cook it, there is a tang to it.
While we eat dinner we turn on the tv and there was the season finale of The Briefcase.  I have seen a couple of episode of it before and just kind of forgotten about it so it was interested in watching it.  Well hubby watched about half of it and then we were done eating and he thought it was just evil.  Pitting two desperate families against each other, making them decide if how much money they would save for themselves while giving the family sad tales about the other desperate family.  See, I don't view it that way.  I see two families that signed up to participate on tv, needing money for various reasons.  Everybody is in debt.  They have a decision to make, how much do they need to keep for their family and how much social responsibility do they feel.  It generated a conversation between hubby and I.  I told him that I would take as much money as I needed to pay all of our debts off, not counting the mortgage, plus $5000, and give the rest to the other family, as I consider us truly blessed.  Hubby said he could see doing a 50/50 slplit.  We both agreed we would want to give the other family something.  I like shows like this that would make me think about what I would do and watch to see what others do.
Tomorrow I have to bath the dog again and then go work at the Zoo.  Also I may get up early enough to go to confession but bathing the dog is pretty high up there.  A lot of it depends on how late hubby sleeps.
