Today was a busy day. I started by getting up at 7 this morning, in order to get hubby to work about 8am. Today was month end inventory day, so he had to be there early to get everybody started counting and start running the reports for the college. He works long days on inventory day.
So today my therapist, Steve, was back from vacation and we were meeting. I asked him how his vacation went and he said wife and he went to a beautiful place and promptly got sick. Wife got sicker than him but it wasn't a good time for either of them. Then we talked about how my daughter, Cassie, set her wedding date for Mary 16 and how I need to let go of the jealousy of Drew's mom that Cassie lives with and is helping her out with planning the wedding. Cassie is talking to me about the wedding and I have made suggestions so I can't be too jealous and that is what Steve is trying to get me to focus on. And how to face the idea of being around Cassie's dad and his wife and possibly his dad and brother and sister and their spouses. It's a lot for me as I don't have pleasant memories associated with any of them.
So after therapy, I drove over to my friend Diana's place and met her to have lunch and take up some carpet in her apartment. She said she had permission to remove some of the carpet in the entry way and she bought some linoleum to put down. We used the box cutters I brought and cut the carpet, then pulled it up. Then she got out a hammer and a screwdriver and started to take out the carpet tack. We rolled up the carpet and started taking out the padding when she had to go to the bathroom and I called hubby and told him that I was going to tell Diana that he needed the car and I had to leave. Frankly, the dirt from the carpet was really bothering my allergies and I needed to get out of there. Well, I think Diana overheard me and I hurt her feelings because as soon as I said I needed to go shortly, she rushed me out and wouldn't even let me help her take out the trash.
I drove over my Red Hat Queen's house, Judithmary, and showed her the doll that Pat from the estate sale, was telling her about and she didn't want it. Judithmary just wanted to talk and catch up on what has been going on and tell me about her disastrous Red Hat trip to Phoenix with some of the other ladies in our chapter. There is a little dissension in our ranks and one person is the troublemaker. Judithmary was a little concerned about what happened and was talking in confidence with me since I have both been in therapy and been on the other side of someone in therapy. It was nice to catch up and I am looking forward to our outing to Fargo's, a Colorado Springs local attraction, a really neat pizza place.
Then I was done with all my errands so I called up hubby and arranged to exchange the car. He drove me home and went back to work to finish his reports. I settled in for a Medium marathon.
Tomorrow I have to get our taxes done so I need to find our 1099s and our w2s. In the morning.

Today was a worship day. Both hubby and I woke up before the alarm was set to go off at 1030am. The dogs had gotten us up earlier and then we went back to sleep but then each got up around 10. I lazed around and ate breakfast before getting ready for church. Hubby was having tummy troubles but was in good enough shape to still go to church. He is out of the muscle relaxers he takes for his back so in more than normal pain. A hot shower really helped. He was a little worried about how his back was going to feel sitting on the pews at church but still wanted to go with me.
It was Palm Sunday and we celebrated that in church. Father Paul talked about what Jesus's sacrifice means to us, the ultimate in forgiveness. I am still learning more about my Catholic faith and what the bible means. Hubby knows the bible and helps me.
After services, hubby took me out to lunch to Red Robin. He had the best burger he had in years, he said. I had their french onion soup and a house salad with honey mustard dressing. Yum! We sat in the bar and talked, drank Pepsi and talked. It was nice, we hadn't had a nice talk like that in quite awhile. We talked about racial tensions and the different ways that we had been raised. How I was raised in the military and race wasn't a consideration because we were a melting pot. People were judged on their individual merits but hubby was raised first in the south, where there was segregation. I lived in Florida for awhile when I was a kid where there was racial tensions where I was going to school. I didn't understand it and couldn't participate in it. We enjoyed our discussion and talked about how I see that a lot of the racial problems we are having now may be caused.
After lunch was over, we headed over to Goodwill. I wanted to look for more broaches and see if they had any good deals that I could buy and either resell or use to barter. They had a very little amount of jewelry and no broaches, and I started looking around while hubby went to look at books. Next thing I know he has this whole stack of Janet Evanovich's series that I had started to read. I had bought mom's collection of the series last summer and they promptly disappeared into the garage and I haven't found them since. So when I bought the first one on vacation, I got interested. So while hubby was over at the record store, he saw a book that had the first three books of her Stephanie Plum series. It's pretty neat, it's about a woman in New Jersey that due to some bad circumstances, ends up being a bounty hunter, a bond enforcement agent. And the stories are about how she came to be one, how she is learning on the job and bringing in people.
Next we left and went home. We planned on eating leftovers for dinner so decided we wouldn't have a set time to eat. Just when we get hungry, we would just heat up our own food. So I didn't eat until really late, and I don't think that hubby has eaten at all.
We had plans to clean up the backyard and to water the front yard but we didn't end up doing anything after we got home. We just plain ran out of energy and motivation.
Tonight was the season finale of The Walking Dead. Wow, what a show!

Today was a negotiating day. The night before my daughter, Cassie, told me that she had changed her mind on having a pine cone wedding bouquet, and sent me a picture of a broach bouquet. Fabric flowers with broaches pinned to the top of some of them. Cassie said her colors for her wedding were Grey, White, and Yellow. I will have to go through the material that Pat gave me for doing the Estate Sale to see if I have any grey or white material, as I bought an old dress made of satin yellow to use. So if I can't find any good material to use in the boxes, I will go to Mill Outlet and see if they have what I am looking for. But I have to look in the boxes first.
So this morning we slept in until 10, then hubby made scrambled eggs and toast with peach jelly. Yum! Then we got showered and dressed and headed back over to Pat's house cause I left my charger for my phone there yesterday and my phone was out of power, almost. I was wearing a black shirt and jeans with my new sneakers that I got off of Brad's Deals. Cool price for walking shoes for $28 shipped! So it was going to be really warm today, it was sunny and in the high 60s. When we got to Pat's, her friend, Susan, was packing up the clothes and I asked if they had a lighter shirt I might wear to the Flea Market. Yes! We found one and I went inside to change shirts. Then I went out to the car where hubby was waiting and we took off for the Flea Market.
We paid our $2 each and started to go in but they made me go back to the car and drop off my soda, no outside food or drinks allowed except our water. That pissed me off, they want you to spend money on their food and drinks. So we sent in and started walking around. I was there to look for broaches for Cassie's wedding bouquet and I spotted one right off the bat. It was expensive, $8, but I got her down from $10. It will make a good focal piece. We walked around and found a couple of thing to buy: I got some sunglasses, a couple of Debbie Macomber books, and 5 more broaches. Hubby bought me a hat cause my nose was getting red. He bought a comic book with a record in it, worth about $50 for $5 since the record wasn't in great shape. He also got some fly swatters, and a trio of wisks. We stopped in the middle of shopping and shared an ice cream cone. Hubby tried to buy an ear of roasted corn but they weren't in season yet so no luck.
I really enjoyed the walk around we took and we didn't spend outrageous money so we both were happy. I ended up with 6 broaches for the bouquet and I have to go through my jewelry box and see what ones I have that I can donate to the cause. I might be able to find some online that I can order in time too. I think I will go to the thrift stores instead and buy some there.
When we got home, hubby boiled some eggs and then made us large chef salads for lunch. Then for dinner, hubby made chicken cordon blu, with all that ham and swiss cheese and hollindaze sauce. Not sure how to spell it but it sure tastes good!
Later, when we went upstairs to watch tv, we went on Amazon to watch The Closer and now Amazon is charging for it! Bummer, we really liked that show! I can be like Brenda sometimes, and not the good things about her. I can be self-centered and tactless at times.

Today was a productive day. I got up around 8 this morning as hubby had to go to work but drop me off at the Estate Sale for my friend Pat first. We headed over around 830 but decided to stop at Kum and Go, our local 7-11 like store and gas station. I got my Cherry Pepsi for the morning and a couple of honey buns for breakfast for Pat and myself.
Hubby dropped me off and headed into work. Pat had opened the house at 8 and had been selling since then. When I arrived, we had a few people in the house and I took over my usual spot of cashier. We had a steady stream of lookers, only about 1/4th to 1/3rd of the stuff we started with was left. The sales were small and we had several repeat customers. We only did 2 credit card sales today. All in all, we did $200 today, which was really good for the sale as long as we had been doing it. Thursday we did $250 so by opening these two extra days, Pat had an additional $450 that she would not have otherwise had.
Pat's son and his wife gave me a ride home and brought my wheelbarrow home that I had bought from Pat. I thanked them and went in the house to see hubby. He had gotten home about 5 minutes before me and we talked about dinner. That morning I had told him that I wanted spanish rice with chicken only I wanted him to make the sauce separate from the rice because in the past the rice sucked up all the tomato sauce and was tasteless. And we had it with beef instead of chicken. For tonight we had the rest of the roasted chicken I made earlier in the week and all we had to do was bone the chicken. We had a can of Rotel tomatoes with green chili and the rices so we were set. A little chili seasoning and other seasoning and we had dinner.
For lunch time, hubby had called me and was coming home to pick up something and asked if I needed anything. I asked him if he could bring me another cherry pepsi, and he went to 7-11 and got both Pat and me some. When he brought it, I thanked him and he went on his way, then I tasted it. Now I have been craving soda after drinking so much of it going to the estate sale but tasting this soda took all that craving away. It obviously was a Pepsi with cherry syrup added to it and it was overpowering. I was glad as I was wondering how I could go back to drinking my tea with lemonade and now I know I can. Yeah for going back to being healthy.
And I got an email that my shrink is moving offices next week. Just a couple of blocks from where he is now, but he will no longer be paying for parking. And I am not sure how I feel about this. I don't have to see him until May so I have time to process this.

Today was a pj day. This morning I woke up around 10am, lounged in bed and cuddled with our big dog, Baby. When hubby gets up in the morning and after he lets them out, Baby likes to come back in and jump in bed with me, lay down in hubby's place and spoon. Silly dog! But she is warm and soft.
So I got up and fed the dogs, cats, birds and fish. Then I went back upstairs and ate a bowl of raisin bran while I watched Medium on Netflix. And that is how I spent my day, watching Medium. Around lunch, hubby came home on his way up to Denver and brought me lunch. A hotdog with ketchup, mustard and pickle relish, tater tots and a Route 44 Cherry Coke. Yum!
I spent the afternoon crocheting, working on my prayer shawl. That took me until the evening. When hubby came home, we ate Panda Express, and then he went out and put up the signs for the Estate Sale. In the meantime, I talked to my mom, my daughter, and Pat, on the phone. When hubby got home, we settled in to watch Supernatural and get cozy.

Tuesday, March 24, 2015
Today was a relaxing day. I started off the day getting up with hubby, well, not so much getting up but waking up when he was getting ready for work. I ate a bowl of raisin bran for breakfast and then fed the beasties. Inry, my male cockatiel, tried to bite me again when I was changing out his seed but that's ok, it's his home and he is just protecting himself. My cockatiels, Sunshine and Inry, don't get handled and don't come out of the cage. See, when I got them, neither was particularly tame. So instead of a regular cage, I bought the flying squirrel cage that my niece was selling because she got rid of her flying squirrels. I put some perches at various levels and added food dishes and a water dish. I added a watering/bathing bowl ring and a bunch of toys. In fact, I need to get them some new toys as they have torn the bells off of the ones they have in there right now.
So I was awake early. I put on a bra and a clean shirt and stayed in my night pants. I played on the computer, read a little and watched Medium on Netflix. Pat came over and brought me poster board, pink florescent poster board, to make new signs for the Estate Sale we have been doing. Pat wants to hold the Estate Sale on Thursday and Friday again. So I spent the afternoon making up the signs. They aren't nearly as fancy as the original ones but do the job. It wasn't until I was half way done that I realized I didn't leave a spot for arrows to direct people. I have a couple of spaces on the poster board where I can put an arrow. I think tomorrow I am going to cut out arrows from copy paper to tape onto the signs when we mount them to direct people which way to go.
So hubby didn't get a lunch break today, just when he would be ready to go, another crisis would demand his attention so he called me at 4 and said he was done for the day. He was in the mood for a pizza and I wanted that with a salad. We have a particular pizza place we go to, Road Runner Pizza. We get a pizza with extra light sauce, half cheese, half pepperoni. Hubby gets me a salad with french dressing and Ben & Jerry ice cream. I ate one big piece of pizza and two little ones, my salad and a little bit of ice cream. I skipped lunch so was really hungry too.
Tomorrow we are expecting rain and cooler temperatures. When hubby gets up about 6 to let the dogs out, he will turn on the heat. Depending on how the day is going, I may leave it on. It's only supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow. And since it will be rainy, we probably won't put up the estate sale signs until early Thursday morning.
Now I didn't do much today but go out and down the stairs a bit. Tomorrow I will be doing a little more exercise but not able to go for a walk because of the rain. Maybe use the treadmill and watch the tv downstairs. Still not watching Dr Phil!

Today was a mouthy day. Hubby needed a break from everything so took off of work. He decided to spend the day with me so he got up and drove me into my dental appointment at 1020am. I was getting a temporary crown put on today, a two hour appointment.
So we arrive at the dentist at 1020am but when I got in there, they said my appointment was at 10, not 1020, so I was 20 minutes late but they didn't make me reschedule, they went ahead and took me back.
It was a tough, but we got through the appointment and got my crown put on. They also had to remount my crown behind it as it came off when they took off the putty they use to make an impression of the tooth. But they got me all fixed up and on my way.
Hubby and I went home and this afternoon we went to an Extreme Couponing seminar put on by our local paper. I got the information before it started that I needed so when they finally started, 15 minutes late, and started off the bat pushing newspaper subscriptions, I was more than ready to go, so we did.
When I got home, I put on the chicken to roast but when dinner was ready, I just couldn't eat. So hubby ate and I drank a glass of milk.

Today was a finale day. The real problem I had started yesterday. My parents called and wanted to see when hubby and I were coming over since they had it on their calender that hubby was going to fix my dad's computer Saturday. I was at the Estate Sale and didn't have much time to talk so I said we would be there after I finished working around 6. Mom said she would make dinner and we could eat and then hubby could work with dad and fix the computer. I said sure and called hubby. Well, I reached hubby on the phone but forgot to tell him about my parents and dinner, then I promptly forgot. When hubby picked me up from the sale, he had dinner cooking and I went upstairs to rest for a little before dinner. My parents called again and asked if we were on our way. I panicked and told her I ended up working late and that we would be over in a few minutes. Mom said they were hungry and waiting on us so please hurry. I ran downstairs and told hubby we needed to turn off dinner and get over to my parents right away. Boy, did he blow up. Didn't understand that I was panicked because I screwed up, just knew that he had been craving parmasian chicken, spent a couple of hours the day before prepping the dish and had made me a really nice dinner and I was making him go and eat cold chicken at my parents' place.
We did go, hubby was so mad at me, he was refusing to talk to me except to yell at me every so often. I understood but I was stuck. We got to my parents and he got the computer started doing whatever he needed it to do and we ate dinner. We did speak once or twice, he did show us the star Venus shining brightly in the sky over the moon and then he and dad disappeared downstairs to fix dad's computer. Mom and I watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Mom and I took turns going down and checking on the status of how much longer every hour. Hubby finally got done around midnight. We beat a hasty retreat. As soon as we got out of the house, it was back to open hostility to me. We drove home.
When we got home, we still had to feed the dogs and cats, shut up the house and get settled. I did my part and then went upstairs into the bedroom. Hubby came up to change, didn't talk to me and went back downstairs to his office. I got my night pills, finished getting ready for bed and watched a little tv. About an hour later, I went to sleep.
I didn't have to be at the Estate Sale until 130pm today because we were going to noon Mass but then at 10am we got a call from my dad that he couldn't do certain things on the computer so hubby got up, threw on some clothes and left to go back over. He called me later and told me we wouldn't be able to go to mass today but he would be back in time to take me the sale.
Hubby got back at 1pm and we left, stopping at Sonic for a Route 44 Cherry Coke first. Then he dropped me off at the sale. He was still peeved but told me he wasn't mad at me anymore, just my dad. Dad was even worse than his mom was when it comes to the computer.
When I got to Pat's place for the sale, we saw they were open and lots of people were there. Marie was inside taking people's money and told me they had been open since 11, just because that was when Pat got there after church and people were waiting. So good for them. They got the outside set up and managed to handle everything just with the two of them.
We stayed busy, ending up doing around $600 for the 6 hours we were open. I bet if we had opened at 830, like we had every other day, we would have done as well as we had on Friday, breaking over $750. We are going to hold the sale for two more days only, Thursday and Friday next week. Then it will be up to Pat on what is donated, stored or given to her daughter to take to the flea market.
When hubby picked me up, he was in a good, but still stressed out mood. He had decided to take Monday off work and go with me to my dentist appointment and my afternoon Extreme Coupon seminar put on by our local paper. Yeah!
We did go, hubby was so mad at me, he was refusing to talk to me except to yell at me every so often. I understood but I was stuck.
Yeah!

Today was a selling day. Oh my goodness! Today I woke up, hubby got up and we got dressed, hit McD's for yogurt parfaits and coke, then onward to drop me off at Pat's for the estate sale. Hubby took my on a tour of the signs and all 19 that he put up. 3 of the signs had come off or were pulled off the posts so he picked them up and will put them back up in the morning, after he drops me back off again.
When I got to Pat's at 830, there were already people there, browsing. I hurried up and got the money and recounted it. Pat had taken money since she got there so I had to count the money, figure out how much she had done, minus what I had taken in the night before and then enter that into the cash register. I hope I did it right.
So all day we had lots of people coming in and buying things. We had a few people who switched tags and tried to get things for really cheap but since I had priced the items, I caught them and told them I wouldn't sell things at that price and put the correct tags back on the items. I was totally ticked off and wanted to kick them out and not sell them anything.
We have a woman, a friend of Pat's, that started telling people they could have discounts on things and she had no authority to do it. I had to tell the people she had no authority to mark down prices and I couldn't honor those prices. They put the things back. I did talk to her and tell her we wouldn't discount things at this time of the sale. She left shortly after that. We may have lost some stuff to theft, like these little glass salt and pepper shakers. Pat counted them and was missing two of them and none of us remember selling them. Oh well, these things happen.
We added up the sales and we sold over $700 in cash and credit cards today only! Between the signs and the ad on craigslist, we have sold over $1000 these past two days. Credit cards are a small percentage of it but it is nice they have an option. It worked out well setting it up on my phone. I have been in charge of handling all the money and it is a huge responsibility. Pat's daughter, Marie, prints out the reports and she and Pat can got through and see if the money comes out right.
We have two more days. Sunday I won't get there until about 130pm but we are only open from 1 to 5pm but I expect it will be slow. Sundays aren't that great days for garage sales so am not sure how they will go for the estate sale. We will see. Pat wants to have the sale next week again, Thursday, Friday aand Saturday. Then that's it for me. She can pack up the rest of the stuff and let her daughter take it all to the flea market. I'm outa there!

Today was a selling day. This morning hubby got up at 5 am and tried to put the the Estate Sale signs for my friend Pat's sale but it has been raining since yesterday afternoon so he was unsuccessful, the tape wouldn't stick. So he came back home and slept for an hour before getting up and taking me to Pat's at 815am. I convinced him to stop at McD's for breakfast since I slept as long as I could and didn't have time to eat some cereal. So we went to McD's and I got a short stack, of which I only ate 1 one and a half pancakes.
So we get to Pat's and I had posted a sign in the window yesterday and we had people come over shortly after we opened at 9. Considering the only advertising we did was on Craigslist for the past two weeks, we got a good steady amount of people. The only credit card transaction we did was mine for $25.00. Everybody else paid cash. We have a minimum of $10 for credit cards. There are a couple of things I would like to get from her still, a turtle planter and some candy mold sets. And maybe a cake platter but no, I don't need the cake holder. But the other two things, I think I need them badly. I will talk to hubby and see what he thinks. The candy molds I would like to melt crayons and pour into the molds to make neat shapes of them and put them on Craigslist.
So we had enough people buying things that we made $300 today! Yeah! And I spent the whole day sitting in a straight backed chair. And my back was spasming by the time I got home so I got undressed and soaked in a hot tub for a while, while I watch How to Train Your Dragon 2. I didn't finish the whole movie but it was cute. When I was done, I called hubby because the shop had closed and he told me that our old roommate called and he was going over there. Then he called me and said they were stopping by the house for him to change so they could go out and put up the signs. That was almost 3 hours ago and he isn't answering his phone right now so I am a little concerned and peeved. I hope he is alright and would either call or come home.
Tomorrow I am going to take a pillow with me to sit with behind my back as I am in pain and the ibuprofen has dulled but not completely taken away my pain. 3 more days of the sale and Pat is already talking about having the sale for another week. I am hoping we sell so much in the next 3 days that we won't have much stuff left.

Today was a prepping day. I had to get up around 930am so hubby could take me to Pat's house so I could spend the day helping her finishing to prep all the stuff for the Estate Sale that is going on tomorrow.
I ate breakfast from McD's, an egg mcmuffin and a large coke. Hubby dropped me off and, much to my dismay, Pat didn't really comment on how she liked the signs and all the hard work I had put into the, so I was really disappointed. Oh well, such is like, take joy in a job well done by yourself. So I got dropped off and hubby left for Denver.
I spent the day helping to price a bunch of stuff, put up big signs with prices and no sale signs and private, no entry signs. We aren't going to let just anybody use the bathrooms. I was so tired by the end of the day. On a good note, Pat did find 3 more boxes of material for me! We are so ready for the sale and my phone is all set up to take credit cards and use as a register.
Pat bought lunch from Burger King for us and I got a burger with a coke, no fries. I only ate about a third of the burger. And I did not get mayo on the burger, I hate mayo. The afternoon droned on.
I was petering out when Pat told me she had to get down to the real estate office to sign papers to accept the offer on her house, a full price offer, and she didn't have time to take me home, so I stayed at the house and did what I could, priced what was left and made my master list for the front door for tomorrow. Susan, the lady who was Pat's friend, was over doing clothes all day upstairs and she finally came downstairs and offered me a ride home, thank goodness! Pat finally called me about an hour later and was just getting out of the office and heading back to the house.
I didn't have any keys to get in the house so luckily we had left the back door open for the dogs so I went through the side gate and into the backyard and in from the back door. I thought it would be harder to get into the gate. I have to remember to put the log back against the gate tomorrow.
I have no reservations about doing the sale tomorrow. I am hoping there isn't much theft, especially of the collectible spoons, so easy to slip one in a pocket or purse. All the spoons are in main living room with me so I hope it stays steady doing checkout but people would still think that I was keeping an eye on them. I am hoping people buy so much stuff that by Sunday there will only be a little amount of stuff left over and we don't have to do this again next week.
By the time I got home, I was beat, so I sat upstairs and watched a Medium. I really love that show and a big fan of Patricia Arquette. I watch her new show, CSI: Cyber on Wednesday nights, too.

Today was an enlightening day. I started off the day by waking up in pain. My hip was on fire! I had slept the whole night in one position and I was in agony. I slowly got out of bed, got up and hobbled for a moment. After going to the bathroom and being dogged by the dogs, I took them out. They went out and stood around so I brought them back in and went back to bed. Just after I did, one of them started to whine and hubby got up and took them out. Finally they did their business and hubby came back to bed.
I went back to sleep for a short time and then when I woke up, hubby was already up. It was early for church so I decided to watch an episode of Medium on Netflix. We had another hour before the alarm was due to go off to get up. After the show was over, we got ready and left early enough to go to Sonic.
Church was good. We had a visiting priest who was talking about light and being able to see. It was fulfilling.
After Church, hubby and I went over to my parents' house to have lunch and so hubby could see if he could fix my father's computer. Mom served chicken, alfredo noodles, green beans and salad with baby kale and chinese cabage. It was good. Afterwards, hubby went down with dad to see what he could do. Mom and I had a nice chat.
The guys joined us up in the living room, I was admiring the painting that my dad had done in the house. We talked for a little while and then we left. Hubby dropped me off to get a pedicure and did the shopping, then came back for me. My feet feel so much better now!
When we got home, we rested for about half an hour and then I made Beef Stroganoff for dinner. But I forgot to put in the peas!
Hubby and I are starting to watch the Taken trilogy. Tonight was the first one. I've seen this one before but don't think I've seen any of the others.

Today was a happy day. Today was a lucky day for me, it was Friday the 13th. Not that I did anything today. My friend, Holly, was supposed to come over today but she wasn't feeling well so I told her if she didn't want to come over, don't worry about it so she didn't. But then my mom called me and we talked for a while. Then she said they were dropping by to bring us dinner, a beef stew she made. She had wanted to make it for us for when we were returning from vacation but she hadn't gotten to it then and we came back a day early. So she had it now.
So my parents come over. For this, I get up, dress in night pants and a long sleeve shirt with a bra. They come in but they don't want to sit down, so we stand talking for 15 minutes. Mom said they were going to a brewery, a micro brewery, later that she called after reading an article about them using barley, soaking it to get the sugars out to make the beer and then throw out the barley after they drain it. So mom called them and found out they just give away the barely when they are done with it. In fact, this micro brewery has a person who uses some of it to make dog biscuits and sells them there. So they would be happy to give mom some, she just needed to bring some containers down today as they were finishing a batch today. She had called last week. Anyway, she and my dad were going down this afternoon.
So I thanked them for the beef stew and told them we would see them later and they left. I went back upstairs and got back to my marathon Medium shows on Netflix.
I know all this sedentary lifestyle has to stop, nothing is getting done in the house, nothing is getting down in the yards and my body is just getting fatter and staying out of shape. I guess the inevitable will happen on the 16th, when I meet with the physician's assistant and find out what life style changes I need to make to fight the weight and osteopenia. So don't count me out on the fight for a healthier and happier life, I'm just taking a break.

Today was a preparing day. I started out the day waking up briefly when hubby was getting ready to go to a class on programming in Excel today instead of work. The nice part is usually hubby works 1130am to 9pm on Wednesdays and today he was going to be done with the class at 4pm and able to come home! Yeah! Anyway, I briefly woke up but was seduced back to sleep by the dream I was having. I don't remember most of the details but it was really involved and Spock was in it and I was part of a group that had to save the world. It had to do with different dimensions. I guess this was my tribute to Leonard Nimoy.
So when I finally did wake up at 10am, I was woken up by a phone call and when I tried to answer it, I dropped the phone. Hubby told me he would call on his break but luckily, it wasn't him. He did call about 10 minutes later so that worked out pretty well. The day turned out to be a good review of things he already knew, learned a few new shortcuts and, at the end, he finally learned the things that he needed to know. But all in all, he said it was a good day.
I spent the day watching Medium on Netflix. Since I woke up so late, I skipped eating breakfast and ate a bunch of fruit for lunch. When hubby got home, he was starving because he skipped lunch, so instead of putting on the chicken at 430 for dinner, we ate at 5 leftover spaghetti. We thought about getting dressed and taking a walk since there was so much daylight after the time change, but we were too comfortable in our night clothes.
We settled in upstairs and watched tv, talked and hubby turned in early as he was really tired. Tomorrow he has to get up early to drive me to the Church by 930am for the Prayer Shawl meeting. I am hoping to make some new friends and be able to crochet prayer shawls. After I finish with the meeting, hubby is going to drive me over to Pat's house where I will help her with getting ready for the estate sale.

Today was a dense day. Or rather, should I say low density day? That's because I had my bone density scan today and it was interesting. First, I checked in now where you have to check in for Radiology, Lab, and Urgent Care. Out of the 4 stations they had, only 2 people were working with patients. And you can only see if they have someone there to help by little mirrors that are up on the walls facing towards the entrance. So I had to wait a while but eventually got up to check in. Good thing I got there early. So I finally got back to see the technician that does the bone density scans.
I went back and there was a table with a big padded area that you lay down on and this machine runs parallel over the bed. I had to take everything out of my pockets, take off my belt and lay down on the table. Then the technician took a triangular wedge and put it in between my ankles and had my go pigeon-toed, then she velcro-ed my in place. I was told to relax and hold still while she made the machine go back and forth over my hips.
Next, I had to unzip my pants and open it while she put a sheet over me, then the machine went over and took pictures of my lumbar spine.
When the technician was done, she printed out the pictures of my hip joints, my lumbar spine and the measurements of how thick or dense, those were. They base the measurements on a healthy 30 year old set of bones and they start a reading of zero. Then they give you a measurement in the negative showing loss. The more negative the number, the greater the loss. Well, one of my hips is still barely in the normal range but my lumbar spine and the other hip are at a loss that puts me in the category of osteopenia, the precursor of osteoporosis. What exactly I have to do to correct this, I don't know but I do know that if I don't take measures now, I will go into full blown osteoporosis and have brittle bones. I have an appointment on the 17th to meet with a physician's assistant of the orthopedic department.
I had therapy with Steve later in the day then swapped the car with hubby. Hubby ended up working until 10pm so I ate leftovers earlier and waited for him to come home. We relaxed and watched some tv before going to bed.

Today was a settling in day. Hubby and I haven't quite adjusted to being back from vacation yet and hubby ended up going into work an hour late. I woke up when he was getting ready but went back to sleep until I got a phone call from my friend Pat, the one having the estate sale I am helping out on. She called at a decent hour, 10am, and I woke up to talk to her. We talked about the progress she has made on getting things out and priced. She is going to pick me up Wednesday to take me over to the house so I can take pictures of the appliances and get those listed on craigslist, see if there is anything we want to list on eBay, and check out what we will be selling next weekend. I told her I would call her on Tuesday to set up the time to pick me up and give her directions to my place.
I woke up and weighed myself. I'm back up to 197.2 pounds. I had eaten a lot on vacation and gained back a bunch of weight. I continued to graze Sunday, the first day back. Today I did better, managing not to eat all day long. I did eat half a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch and later I had a danish for a snack. When hubby came home, he made spaghetti and meatballs with a salad and some bread and butter. I ate a some of everything and managed to eat one meatball with sauce.
One of the other things we did today was give all the dogs a bath since Kira had a poop butt. Being a corgi, she has a fluffy butt and sometime when her bowels are loose, it sticks to her fur. Well, she got on the bed and got poop on the comforter so tomorrow I need to wash that and hang it out to dry. I cleaned her up as much as I could and when hubby got home, we popped her into the tub. I trimmed her butt a little after we washed and dried her off but she needs more trimmed.
Tomorrow I have a bone density scan scheduled at 10am and therapy at 1pm. I have to give Steve, my therapist a post dated check for $130, good at the end of the week.
When I told hubby that I had gained this weight back, he said we will have to start bicycling now that the weather is nice. I agree and hope I have the balance to ride mine. Ultimately I want to get an adult tricycle but they run around $400.

Today was an unpacking day. I slept in until 1230! But that is with the new time change of turning the clocks forward an hour, you know, Spring Forward, Fall Back. So I went to sleep around midnight and just was tired out from the vacation. I woke up at 1030 when the alarm went off and hubby talked me into sleeping in instead of getting up and going to mass. We needed the down time.
So today we did laundry, unpacked some of the suitcases and caught up on socializing with our puppies and kitties. They missed us as much as we missed them. We fed them lots of treats and gave them lots of pets and love.
Not much else happened today, I watched a lot of Netflix and recorded shows like Little Women of LA. Tomorrow I have things to do, stuff to unpack and put away. Hubby got the kitchen cleaned and tomorrow I am going to clean my bathroom.

Today was a driving day. We packed and left Las Cruces, NM about 830am and drove back to Colorado Springs. We stopped often to pee and get drinks, once to get gas. The trip was interesting, we watched as it went back back from warm to chilly and saw snow again. Good thing I was wearing my jeans. We stopped in Pueblo, CO and ate dinner in Cracker Barrel, then continued onto home. We got in about 830pm. I put away the food stuffs and toiletries, thanked Frank for staying over for the week and then left him go home. We loved up the animals for a while and then changed into our jammies and headed for bed to watch a little tv and get some sleep.
We have to remember to change the clocks and set them ahead an hour. We have mass tomorrow so I must get some sleep now.

Today was a patients day. I got to be Nana all day long to two wonderful granddaughters. Lili was a pistol all day long, flitting from one thing to the next, never really settling down to anything. She was enthralled by Micky Mouse for a bit but even then didn't sit long. Maybe the excitement of having us there every day for the last 5 days has been too much and it came to a head today. She did end up eating dinner early and going to bed early. She took a nap before hubby and I got there so didn't get a break from us today. Her mom was on the phone trying to work out travel plans for her husband's father from New York so I was the one to get everything ready and give Lili her bath again. She was tired so didn't play much and was ready to get out much sooner than she was last night. I got her dried, oiled up and diaper on. For a 16 month old, she weighs 32 pounds and is in pull ups already. This girl is a big one!
Her sister, Shy, was also less settled than normal also. She seemed to want to eat constantly and poor Sarah was a walking feedbag. I watched Shy when Sarah and hubby had to go run an errand and Lili was ansy. Shy slept and when she woke up I changed her diaper and in the middle of it, she started to pee! I quickly grabbed another diaper but it required a full outfit change. I held her for a long time and part of the time, I got her to suck on her hand. Sometimes she just couldn't be passified and I had to hand her over to Sarah to nurse, even if she had just nursed.
Tonight hubby and I made dinner again. Two roasted chickens, which took about 3 hours to cook instead of the hour and a half that I was thinking. Now I had the idea to make parsley potatoes, you peel potatoes, cut them in one inch squares and boil them for about 25 minutes, until they are cooked but not mushy. Since we had to be kosher, I couldn't use butter so I coated the potatoes in olive oil. Then we chopped fresh parsley and tossed it in with salt and pepper. Then we steamed broccoli. Despite the lateness of the hour, dinner was wonderful! The chicken came out moist and the skin was crispy, seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and salt and pepper. Also some oregano. At the end of dinner I boned the rest of the chicken and tomorrow I am going to make chicken pot pie with Sarah.
Tomorrow, hubby and I are going swimming when we get back from Sarah's.

Today was a total Nana day! Hubby was feeling better but still a little under the weather so we decided to go to Sarah's with the understanding that she would not hold the baby, Shy, or get that close to Lili. I got the total gramma experience today. We are teaching the kids to call me Nana. Lili was all excited when she saw hubby come in, grampa made faces at her. She made happy faces at me too. I was excited to see the grandbabies as we didn't see them at all yesterday.
When we arrived, I showed Lili the 3 books that hubby and I bought her yesterday at Goodwill. She stayed still for about a minute and we flipped through a few pages and I read quickly. She stayed still as long as a 16 month will, a minute here and a minute there. She liked the books and came back to them several times. Once just to stand on them, they felt good on her feet.
I spent the day holding and loving Shy. She melded into me sleeping. I got to hold her, change her, change her diaper and rock her. The only thing I didn't do was feed her cause Sarah is breastfeeding. Sarah is tired and I tried to give her time to be unattached, unencumbered by children. We tried to entertain Lili, and Shy, hubby doing the cooking. Sarah was tired and fed up, people in her house were getting on her nerves. We did the best we could to help out.
I asked Sarah if I could have the full gramma experience and be able to give Lili a bath. She loves to play in the water and I wanted to see and experience that and I did! Sarah even got some pictures and sent them to me.
Hubby finished making his homemade chicken soup and we had it for dinner. It was good and we had fresh crusty bread with it. Apparently eating Kosher means you can't eat dairy and meat at the same time in the same meal so no butter with the bread. Lots to learn!

Today was a sick day. Last night hubby came back to the hotel all sniffy and stuffy, not feeling well, so I sent him to the drug store to get some Mucenex for cold and sinus. He started taking it but today he was still feeling poorly so we stayed in the hotel so he wouldn't get any of the kiddos sick. I stayed with him to keep him company and take care of him.
So we got up at 830am and got ourselves downstairs for the free breakfast. We got eggs, sausage and waffles. And you got to make your own waffle! It was fun! The eggs were a funny texture, hubby said they tasted like they were powdered eggs. I thought they tasted like eggs but texture-wise, they were weird. I have the alarm set up to go off at 830am again. Protein is important for each meal so I will eat some more eggs.
We brought breakfast upstairs to eat in the room so we could watch tv. I called Sarah and explained that we were staying at the hotel today just to make sure we didn't get the kiddos sick. She understood and told me if I got bored, I was welcome to come by myself. I told her since her dad was sick, and he is a baby when he is sick, I had to take care of him.
We rested in the hotel until the afternoon, when hubby was getting a little restless and feeling a little better, so we took a drive over to the Goodwill. We saw a could of cool toys for the grandbabies but hubby said he didn't want to buy used toys for the babies, so I found a couple of books, soem sheets that I want to make into clothes for me, and a green glass chip and dip set from the 80s. I also found a little metal sign that was from the 70s.
Since hubby was starting to feel bad again, we made a quick trip to the grocery store for food for dinner. I got a salad and a bean and cheese burrito. and hubby got peanut butter and jelly and bread. We have snacks and cereal at the room still along with a bunch of fruit. So we were set for the rest of the night.
We just watched that new show Last Man on Earth. It was great! A toilet pool, too funny.

Today was a joyous day! Hubby and I slept through the alarm we set so we could get up in time to eat breakfast at the hotel so we had to eat out again. But that was ok. We got ready and got out of the hotel. We went to Walmart, looking for a tea set and play food for Lili. We had talked to Sarah and Lili didn't have anything like this. So we looked at Walmart, we didn't find the tea set but we did find a child's grocery cart with play food. Lots of boxes of play food but still thought it was ok. So next we went to Arby's because we were starving. I got the medium roast beef sandwich and hubby got the french dip. I also got an apple turnover.
Next we went to Big Lots where I found the perfect tea set with a teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, plates, cups and silverware. Now it says it is for 3+ years old and Lili is only 16 months but she is being supervised. And her mom, Sarah, approved of the set. Lili and I played with it. She doesn't quite get the pretend part of it yet but she is learning. We brought bubbles too and she loved those. She even blew a few!
Hubby spent a lot of the day cooking for dinner for tonight and for tomorrow, doing the first stages of the homemade chicken soup. And for dinner tonight he is making beef goulash. Some of Sarah's favorite foods. The trick of cooking is he has to cook kosher and that means adapting the recipe in ways we have not considered before. I think it was a roaring success! Instead of milk, he substituted cornstarch. Instead of butter, he used butter flavored crisco. I think the dumplings came out better. The family all liked it.
As the day went on, hubby started feeling worse and worse and getting stuffy. We left after dinner, when we got our car back. Bar, Sarah's husband, had started a car audio store. SO as a surprise, Bar installed at new stereo in our car so hubby could plug in his MP3 to it and have it play in the car. What a wonderful son in law!
Hubby stopped at the drug store and bought some Mucelex and rested. He took a short nap and then heated up some leftovers. After eating he has gone back downstairs to listen to the new stereo before he is going to bed.

Today was an exciting day! Hubby and I woke up at the hotel that Sarah and Bar had gotten for us last night instead of us sleeping on twin mattresses on the floor of the playroom. They said old people need to sleep in real beds and have a room all to their own, so they got us a hotel room for the week, on them. I was both happy and sad. Happy because we would be comfortable and have a place to ourselves in the evening to decompress and sad because I was looking forward to being waken up by Lili, my 15 month old granddaughter. But we told Sarah and Bar thank you very much and went to it. We are only about 15 minutes away from them.
So today after we got up and got some breakfast from Denny's, we got ready and left for Sarah's. Today we were delivering the double stroller I had bartered for and we brought it out from Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, I didn't open or clean it before we brought it out and not only was it dirty but had some mouse poop in it so we have mice in our garage. Time to clean out the garage!
So when hubby and I got to Sarah's, we called to let her know we were there and that we were coming in so she met us at the door and let us in. Knocking or ringing the bell gets the dogs all riled up and barking and we were avoiding that. Now Lili was hiding behind the door looking out the window. When we shut the door, she screamed bloody murder and ran to her mom, then ran away some more. She eventually came back to her mom and made Sarah hold her and was crying, louder when we tried to come up to her. So we moved into the living room and hubby took to the offensive, playing peek a boo and talking to her. Eventually he did make some headway and she let him feed her some pepsi in the bottle cap. But then it was time for a nap.
While hubby was making headway with Lili, I concentrated on getting to know Sahy Li, who was two weeks old, better. They call her Shy. I got to hold her for a long time, change her diaper and rock her. Since Sarah is breast feeding I couldn't help with that but I did give her some time to just sit and talk. And when both the babies were asleep, we got to have an adult conversation and catch up on us, her sisters and friends. Talked about child stuff.
When Lili woke up from her nap, she was crying so Sarah spent some time with her and then Lili spent time with her daddy. Since her daddy works an awful lot, Sarah was enjoying the break.
Hubby went to the grocery store to buy the makings for goulash and homemade chicken soup, a special request by Bar. While hubby was at the store, Sarah talked to Bar and they decided to take us out to dinner tonight to the Olive Garden since Bar was home and had the time today. Hubby can cook tomorrow. Sarah has been craving goulash so is excited. Bar, not so much.
After dinner was over, hubby and I went to Walmart and bought some bathing suits so we could swimming in the hotel pool but when we got back to the hotel and got dressed in the suits, we went downstairs and the pool is closed for cleaning. The front desk guy didn't know anything about it and said that we should try back tomorrow. So we got dressed in our jammies, hubby went to have a smoke and I am watching Lockout on cable.
