Today was an exploration day. I found a Groupon for a spa downtown, and pedicures were $16, so last week I had set an appointment for 1130am today. Hubby was working the closing shift today, until 8pm or later, getting ready for End of the Year Audit during end of month inventory, so he wasn't going in until 1130am either. So we both woke up at 9am, but laid in bed for an hour watching tv and talking. The joys of having grown, gone away children! We finally had to get up and get ready for our respective days. Blah!
But I got Kiggy to drive downtown in Colorado Springs. There are a few spots of ice still, mostly in neighborhoods where plows don't go. So The Saturn is good for hubby to just drive to work and not go anywhere. He's not going to Denver this week, it's a 4 day week and one of the ladies is on vacation this week at work, so it's just two of them. And since school is on break, hours at the book store and production is 9-7pm. They close an hour early during break. Hubby has to work long days this week through Wednesday getting reports and paperwork ready for the Audit. He's also going to do a pre-inventory to make sure they are on track.
I have never been to this spa before and I was running late trying to find it. I forgot that I had put it on my phone calendar and couldn't find the address when I left the house. But when I got downtown, I remembered her giving me a general direction of where they were located. But then I looked on the phone calendar and found the phone number, so called her. She told me I could stay in the parking space I had pulled into and just walk the half block to the place. Yeah! And the parking meters downtown now take credit cards, so I used my debit card to pay $2 to park for 2 hours.
I was expecting a little more modern facility. They do manis, pedis, massage and a few other services. But you sit on a bench that is elevated and she brings a pan of water for you to soak your feet. The procedure it's self was nice and good. But I like the massage chairs and the extended spa pedicure I get at the salon I usually go to, I just needed to get in and this was a good deal. I forgot my sandals so I bought a pair of flip flops for $2 to wear out. I was only 35 degrees out today, so I was a little chilly but it was ok by the time I got to the car. I didn't even put on my scarf or zip up my jacket.
Since I went off hormones when I turned 50, the Gynecologist, Dr Crystal, said that I could go off then or wait until I was 51, but they didn't want women on them any longer than necessary. The prolonged exposure increases your chances of breast cancer the higher in age you are. So I decided to do it when I turned 50. I started having hot flashes, where I would suddenly get very hot, sometimes my ears would turn red. I was lucky, my hot flashes would never be the dripping sweat pouring off my body type of ones. I can tell you thatmy now normal temperature that I feel is hotter than I used to be, at all times, with hot spells coming on. But I get overheated easily. I have yet to wear anything but short sleeved shirts all winter, so far. I turn off the heat during the day, even on a day like today where it's only in the low 30s. When the inside thermostat says it's 63, I will turn the heat on but lock it at 65 degrees. I'm comfortable there. Hubby, on the other hand, is freezing at 65. So when he gets home, we compromise at 67, locking the thermostat there for 5 hours. He puts on a long sleeve thermal shirt and sweat pants, and I put on a summer night gown that is short. When we got upstairs to watch tv or Netflix, Hulu Plus or Amazon, he uses the fleece throw or two that I got him for Christmas. I sit on the bed with no covers. I'm comfortable or warm, he is tolerating it. For some reason, our thermostat has reset it's self to being back at 71 degrees again. We lost the book, so hubby has to look it up on the internet on how to reset it. But when we moved in, it was 4 years ago this month, I never could find out how to reset the weekends. Sometimes at night, after taking off pants and getting into my nightgown, I'm so warm that I have to open up my window for a little while. Poor hubby!
So after the pedicure, I still had an hour on my meter. My polish was still not cured, hard, so I sat and read in my space for a while. Then I decided to go to Costco since I had $3 in my wallet, and get lunch. A slice of combo pizza and a soda are only $2.58 plus tax. Out of the $3, I got 22 cents change. Perfect! And it's a huge slice of pizza! Normally I can only eat about half but today I ate the whole thing! And I filled up my cola cup twice while I was eating, a third time while I was still reading sitting there, and again after I was done walking through the store!
I wandered through their book section, I wanted to see what new books there was out and if I was interested in any. I found three paperbacks that I wrote down the titles and authors on to check and see if the library has them. I'll have hubby look them up online for me and reserve them, if he can. Then I found out they have the Entertainment Book for $17. New, it goes for $25 plus shipping online. It just came out within the last month or two. September at the earliest, I think. Anyways, I looked through it and there are many places we go to, or would go to with the coupons. We save far beyond the price of the book throughout the year. And by looking in the book first, we find new places to try with the coupons! Win/win!
Christmas went very well! At midnight between Christmas Eve and Christmas is when hubby and I exchange gifts and we open our stocking that I do. This year I got him the Mechanic's Tool Chest and sections of newspaper from 1930, 1931 and 1932. There was an article about Amelia Earhart, Hoover and not sure what the other section was about. These were his two favorite presents that he couldn't decide between which was the best. The remote controlled shark that takes helium to float, but then you control where it flies was nice, but he loves the 4 adult coloring books and colored pencils I got him. He said he was very happy to finally have his own!
He got me lots of little stuff, all the stuff on the two lists I made him of stuff I wanted, like nail polish in fun colors, pedicure soaking salts in pepermint, cds of Dan Fogelburg and Journey, a 12 count muffin tin, and nail stuff to do my nails. Then he got me more adult coloring books, too! Funny that we were thinking alike!
Both of us get so excited to give each other gifts, that why we do it at midnight. Then it will let us sleeping in as late as we want the next morning, do nothing until hubby gets the ham in around noon, and we finish cooking the rest of dinner a few hours later. This year we had roasted yams from Schwann's, whole frozen green beans and cheesey biscuits from Schwann's. The ham was a spiral ham. It seems to be the only kind I like anymore, it has to have the glaze.
Hubby and I spent the day in bed, around dinner, just watching movies, coloring, and talking. Enjoying each other's company. We talked to Cassie and Drew first thing in the morning, firmed up the plans to meet the next day, Saturday, for dinner and to go to Electric Safari at the Zoo. But we didn't call our other daughter's or granddaughters. Sarah texted us that evening with a pic of LiAn playing with the talking baby doll we sent her, she was bent over giving it a kiss. She told us the kids liked the toys, she liked her stuff and we told her we would call on Sunday and try to Skype. We needed the day to be just about us, hubby and me.
So Saturday, hubby has to work, so I stayed in bed and just relaxed all day. He only had to work for 6 hours, 8-2, and though I was up went he went to work, I couldn't nap with him when he got home. but I wrapped the presents for Cassie and Drew, then rebagged and sealed them so they would be comfortable that there was no bedbugs on them. They are freaked out about them.
We met them at the restaurant, a favorite little place of mine that serves authentic Mexican food. Owned and worked by a Mexican family, down by where we used to live on Nevada, just off of Brookside. Hubby doesn't really like Mexican food and didn't particularly want to go there, but I explained to him that the food is good to me, he has thought it was ok, and it was at a good, lower price. The kids were taking us out to dinner since we didn't have the money for it and this was a good, inexpensive place. The kids didn't want to eat or come in to our home because they didn't want to take the chance of picking up any bedbugs or transporting them back to their house. Nightmare!
We had a great time at dinner. We gave them all the little gifts we had gotten for both of them, like a sewing kit container that had lots of different kids of thread, needles, pins, scissors, needle threader, and so much more. Everything you needed to fix and mend things. We gave them two matching fleece throws,a container of trail mix, a huge three wick PartyLite tower candle. Cassie got two necklaces, one was her name, which is very hard to find - Cassandra, and the other was a matching one I had, a glass globe with three dandelion fluff seeds with a little sign that says Wish. She put both of them on right then. We also gave her a blender with a bottle to blend in and take with you. Different from the Ninjas and Magic Bullet that I have. This bottle is like a water bottle. I had forgotten that I had given her a similar one last year! she just laughed and said she would hold onto it because she used the other one ALL THE TIME, and she expected it to wear out or lose the bottle. IT was good to have a back up. She talked about certain movies she wanted and we had, so they agreed to come back to the house. It was 30 degrees outside and had a windchill of -20, so felt like only 10 degrees. Far to cold to go to the zoo and walk around outside for a couple of hours. so we left and met up at the house.
It was going to take a little to get the movies so they did come into the kitchen to wait. They stood the whole time, but we chatted while hubby got everything they wanted. I forgot to give her the cookbooks I had gotten for her, so Tuesday we are shipping out a package to her. It will be the present form my parents, the cookbooks, and the snow boots that came in the mail today. I got them from that Wish ap I have on my phone. I got two pairs of these Ugg like boots for $8 a pair. They are pink and really cute. Reviews said they were warm. My sneakers are just a little too slick for the snow and when I walk through snow, they get wet on the netting/mesh. Cassie wears a size 8 also, so I got a pair for her and one for me. Don't know if she needs or wants them, but I know money has been tight and I feel better getting them for her.
I am trying hard to not bother Cassie unless I have a reason to text her or call her, like Christmas and the boots, telling her what I was having sent out on Tuesday and if there was anything else she needed. She asked if hubby had printed out something she talked to him about and I told her he hadn't had time yet but I would talk to him about it tonight when he got home. Then I tell her I love her, and let it go at that. Unless she volunteers something about her day, I don't push and ask her anything about it. She gets annoyed when I do that, or worse, just doesn't answer.
I picture in my head a house. Inside the house used to be Cassie and me. Then hubby and I got married and into the house in my head was the three of us. In the backyard of this house, is my parents and sisters, their families. They are close but not inside. I visit them and go into the backyard, but don't stay back there. Then Cassie moved up to her dad's when she was 15. She stayed in the house in my head, an immediate family that was priority for me. Came first in my life, even before hubby, at all times. But I have come to realize recently, that I can't keep this situation like this. Cassie has to move to the backyard, with the rest of the family. Someone I visit with when it is convenient with both of us, but not the focus and priority of my life. If they were, they would be in the house with hubby and me. But this is what it's like, apparently, when your kids move out of the house and start their own lives. Hubby and I are the priority, the only two occupants of the house. As it should be, according to my therapist, Steve. For a decade, I was not accepting that I was going through Empty Nest Syndrome. I couldn't accept that I wasn't as important to Cassie as she was to me, and I tried for all that time to make her make me that. And it hurt all the time when I wasn't. When she wouldn't call me back, when she wouldn't acknowledge my texts. When she did contact me, she wouldn't share much. And, with help, I finally understood what I was doing was so unhealthy and I have to change my way of thinking as I was constantly hurt by her. Some from the way she would talk to me, rude and sharp, on occasion, a lot by the way was she treating me. And I would do anything she wanted, trying to make her happy and trying to take care of her, even to the detriment of hubby and me. Giving her money that we really couldn't afford.. Giving her things she wanted when we really couldn't afford to buy them. Going up to see her when she would call, whether it was a good time for us or not. Hubby and I would argue as he tried to teach me how to let go, but I wasn't ready yet. I had to see it for myself.
I started by placing limits on how she could talk to me. When she was disrespectful, I would let her know that I wasn't going to accept it anymore. If she continued and was at my house, I would tell her that she would have to leave if she continued. She would get mad, but got better. With hubby's and Steve's help, I've been setting boundaries that are good for me. Like making Christmas Day just about hubby and me. I'm learning.
Tomorrow I have therapy at 10am, so will be getting up at 9am at the latest. Then I am home for the rest of the day. I have to change the rattie boys cage and start putting away the Christmas presents that hubby got me. Cassie and Drew got me a pedicure kit of peppermint foot scrub, lotion, scrubber and stuff, plus a $25 gift card to Barnes and Nobles. Hubby got a dessert chocolate cupsbox with different desserts in each small cup. Too rich for me, but he and Cassie each had one when we came back to the house and they loved them! He got a gift card to the bookstore, too.
And since we can lose things pretty easy, we went online and shopped that night. Hubby was able to get a trilogy of books he has been wanting for the $25 and I went shopping in the Bargin Section, where paperbacks were $3 or less. I found two more adult coloring books and 7 fiction books that looked very interesting! Hubby and I were able to use two gift cards on one order, so combines it was over the $25 minimum required for free shipping. Yeah! Hubby said that the books should be here sometime this week. Neat!
When I talked to Cassie the next day, Sunday, she told me that she was using a lot of the presents we gave them, already. She used the sewing kit to repair some underwear that had come apart, she was wearing both necklaces, she and Drew spent Saturday night curled up under the fleece throws coloring in the coloring books while eating trail mix and watching one of the movies we gave them. Score! I'm so glad! I was afraid that by not having a big, expensive thing to give them, and spending tons of money on them, they would be disappointed. But all the little things that I put so much thought into are the ones that meant the most. And by keeping an eye out all year for things for her birthday and for them for Christmas, I was able to get things that I wouldn't be able to find at the last moment, like the name necklace and the wish necklace. The Wish necklace took over a month to come to me from China.
The fight against the bedbugs is ongoing. We both have gotten bitten for the last two night and we changed the sheets both times. Today we took off the mattress cover and found several splits in the plastic bag sealing the mattress, so they were coming up through that. We repaired the plastic bag, but it's getting too worn. We need to buy the mattress bags for bedbugs that will seal the mattress and box spring. We will get those when we get paid on the 30th. I'm checking Bed, Bath & Beyond online tonight to see if they have them and how much they are there. Where we found them at one Walmart at the north end of town, they were $35 each bag, so $70 to do the bed. Well worth it! The plastic bags were a good stop gap measure and have served us well, but aren't a long term solution as they get weak around the packing tape repairs and split from weight and wear. Then I wake up like I did this morning with several bites down one arm and a couple on my back. Have to increase my vacuuming, we should be doing it at least every other day to be getting the population down and keeping it down as the eggs hatch. But right now we are only doing it once a week, if that. I've been very lax, I got so tense doing it all myself and the guys weren't doing anything. I was doing 4-5 loads of laundry a day, vacuuming, cooking and more. I was worried all the time and waking up with bites all the time. When I went for a while without bites and kind of had a crying break down with hubby, he said to let him and Frank help and what did I need them to do. Well, they haven't been much help at all. I stopped doing so much laundry and hubby has only done clothes and enough bedding to get by each night we have to change it. So I'm back to doing it all but that's ok. I'll tell Frank to get his sheets changed every other day again as he's slacking and I think it's been over a week or more again. I have to tell him the washer is free when he gets home from work and he should change and wash his sheets again. Oh well, I have to stay on top of it.

Today was a hurry up and wait day. Hubby was going to work late and so he turned off the alarm and slept in for another half hour. But after he came back from the bathroom to get back in bed, I told shim to take an ibuprofen so it would have a chance to work on his pain while he was sleeping. He did and when he woke up, he felt better.
We both go up and got ready for the day. While he was sleeping I ate my yogurt and drank my cola. I watched some live broadcasts on a new ap on my phone called Periscope. It allows people, eventually all over the world but right now in north and south America, so log in and watch people broadcasting live over their phones. I saw on interview on The Late Show with Steven Colbert with the inventor of it. I wasn't paying to much attention, but got the gist of it.
You sign up and it allows you watch live anybody in these two continents that have chosen to do a broadcast. And by that, I mean these people hit the broadcast button and it links them into the system. They talk, show their drive, do tricks, basically anything family friendly, no porno or nudity. I did tune into a group of guys hanging out drinking. One guy mooned the phone. But that's the most I have ever seen on this. And if you want to ask the broadcasters questions, you can type them into the chat feature and it will float up the screen and they will see it. They can answer you. If you like them, you tap the screen and little hearts float up their screens. Periscope tracks the hearts for you. Why? I have no idea. Maybe once the ap has been on for awhile, they will list people by likes.
And when you do a broadcast, it is recorded and available for people to watch for 24 hours, then it is deleted. I have tuned in a watched several people in all sorts of countries and here in my own town! I have watched some recordings. Oh, when you go to do a broadcast, it asks for a title, so people will be intrigued and want to tune into you.
Tonight I did a broadcast while cooking dinner. I started the broadcast after I have sliced up all the potatoes and put them in the skillet to fry. Then I turned on the broadcast and talked about what I was making, showing them the pan, describing the dish and the ingredients. I talked about my mental illness, the DID, and what led to my first recognizing something was wrong. And my job with IBM and the sexual harassment. No one was watching but the recording will be there if anyone wants too. It was fun, talking with "people" while doing a task I would normally be doing anyways. I have turned into people wrapping presents, sitting around their tree just talking and interacting with the "audience". Some people do regular broadcasts, same time every day. One was a jewelry workshop. There was an artist working. There are preachers. Radio shows. All sorts of things. Fun!
So for dinner I made polska sausage, potatoes and green beans. One of the few "fried" foods we eat and love. I cut potatoes into thin slices. I don't peel them, skin is good for you. So I cut the potatoes into thin slices. I chunk the onion and fry this up in a little bit of canola oil. Then I add the potatoes, about 1/4 inch thick. I drizzle more oil over the potatoes and mix them up in the pan, then cover it and turn the heat down a little. When the potatoes are mostly cooked, I add the polska sausage and mix. Then I re-cover and cook it more, stirring occasionally. When the sausage is cooked, I will drain and add a can of green beans. I cook that covered for another 10 minutes, then it's ready. Oh, I forgot I add two tablespoons of chopped garlic. I season it with a lot of onion powder, Italian seasonings, and salt and pepper.
Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment for a follow up from passing out and hitting my head, twice. And sometime during the day, hopefully, or early evening, I'm expecting hubby's Christmas Present, the big one, to be delivered. I'm hoping the box will fit through the door and I bought enough wrapping paper today to wrap a big box.
I'm all jumbled up today! I went to the bank this morning and deposited the dividend check we got from our homeowner's insurance from Amica. More than enough to pay for the registration on the car. I went to DMV and registered the car because we got the notice in the mail that we finally could, but it didn't have an amount on it. I had previously gone to DMV and showed them all our paperwork and they said it would be between $500-$700. Surprise! Only $311! Score! So even though we were a month early, I had enough money to register the Saturn too. $68. Bulyah!
Since that left us with about $250 in the account, I stopped at Albertson's and bought some groceries. I picked up another spiral ham because they were only $1.69 a pound and make great sandwich meat, compared to $6 a pound at the deli. Spent $100, but saved with coupons and bargain hunting, $42! I love that when it happens!
I met hubby at home in time to feed him and he helped put away the groceries. We talked while he ate, then we both left. Him back to work, and me to my parent's to give my mom her birthday present. I forgot her birthday on Friday, didn't call or anything! But I called her Saturday morning. So I took a pair of bulldog salt and pepper shakers. Found out they have a collection of them, but not these ones. For Christmas, we are giving them the matching cookie jar. When I vomitted the closet into the craft room, my term for taking off the doors and pulling everything out all over the room, I couldn't find the box with the 1000 dog poop bags, so tomorrow I will have to look through the garage. That was another gift we have to give them. With a leash holder/dispenser. Then we are going to give them a card with their big gift, one dinner a month for a whole years, made and brought to their house. With baking instructions or reheating instructions. Probably reheating instructions. Haven't decided.
Hubby worked late, so I ate dinner without him, while the rattie boys were running around. I got all the animals fed, sat with Tommy and played, then read to him. He likes that. The dogs like it when I read to them too. I should do it more often. Hubby finally came home and ate. We are retiring upstairs to watch another episode of The Commish and then watch The Late Show with Steven Colbert. Maybe not, he's in reruns. So a movie. And read. And about 1am, to sleep. Good night!

Sunday, December 20, 2015
Today was a together day! Hubby and I woke up about 830am. We got up, peed, I got my yogurt and cola, and he just came back to bed. We sat there watching stuff on Netflix for the morning. We started to watch The Ridiculous 6 with Adam Sandler and other actors I know by sight but not by name, and he got bored, hubby's not an Adam fan, so he went to take a shower. I finished up the movie and got dressed, then we headed out.
We went to the store Entertainment. It's a New but mostly Used Record, DVD, CD and Games store. Hubby and I walked side by side reading all the titles of the boxed collections. They were alphabetical. TV series and Actors collections of movies in one box. I picked up the first two seasons of The Commish for $10 and $15. Hubby is going to look up to see how many seasons there were all together. We went over to their sale area, huge, and looked at dvds that were $3.99 or less, which is much more my style. We were looking when I got the idea that at this price, we could buy one movie to give to Laura and the kids, and one each to the two girls who are living with their boyfriends. To supplement the other stuff we are giving them. So we decided on Die Hard, the Ultimate Christmas Movie! And since Cassie and Drew will be coming down on the 27th to have an early dinner with the whole extended family at Laura's, we got one for them too. And one for my parents. They will be there too.
If you have never seen Die Hard with Bruce Willis, watch it on Christmas Day. It takes place at his wife's Christmas Party on one of the top floors in a building in LA. Bad guys take the Christmas Party hostage. Bruce Willis is a detective or homicide cop or something. He fights the bad guys, shoots them up, walks bare footed through glass, and almost gets blown up. It's thrilling, action packed, and nail biting crazy. There is love, threats, betrayal, smack downs, and heroism. Fun watch. We got Die Hard for everyone but Laura and the kids at her house. For them we got Die Harder, the sequel. We figured this way one of the kids would have to come to her house so the kids and her can watch Die Hard, then stay to watch Die Harder. Family time!
We went to Independence Records Annex, the used record store. Went you first walk in, there is a mud room of record that are 99 cents each, or two for $1. So hubby and I always spend some time searching through there, looking for good finds. Today I found two collections of old country and western that has a mixed group of famous singers like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and others. Then I found two more collections of other music, one never even opened! I can't remember what they are but I think they were Reader's Digest Collections. One was called Blowing In The Wind, and I recognized songs on all of them. Not your everyday listening, but once in a while is good.
Then hubby and I made it all the way in. He found a Led Zeplin album that has the naked children on the cover that was in excellent shape for $14 and another different music group for $9. He wasn't going to get them, but I told him that they would be part of my Christmas present to him, get them, so he did.
Then we had to go to both our banks to take some money out of one checking account and put into the other to cover because we were in a minus and would otherwise get bounce charges tomorrow. I got to see the new location for our bank, I hadn't realized them moved to the other side of the parking lot. And while we were in that parking lot, we stopped at the used book store, because you can never have too many books. We walked in and I found the water pen reusable activity pads that Holly had recommended for our two year old granddaughter. There is a fat short pen with a paintbrush tip. You fill the pen with water. The pad has a resealable place for the pen to go. There is a spiral at the top and 4 or 5 thick pages. There is scenes on the page and they are white. Well, when the child starts "painting" with the water, the colors and hidden stuff comes up. When it dries out, it will disappear again. We got one for Shay Li and one for Li An.
I also found a dog bone recipe book that came with new dog bone cookie cutters and a book with a collection of three books. Each one was $5, $1 more than the regular price of their hardback, which are $4. Paperbacks are $2. The activity pads were $5 each too. Then we started looking around but apparently they were closing and wanted to hurry us all out right NOW!
We got over to the other bank, just down the street, and put in the money. Good thing we did because we were in the hole for $20! Now we are covered. Hubby is paying the mortgage tonight for next month, we always like to pay that two weeks early, and we figured out that all the rest of the bills are paid. We had about $300 extra dollars, so that was the money we went shopping with today. We each took $100 and used that to spend on each other.
I was going to get hubby an Ancestry DNA test to tell him what he is made up of, where he comes from. But I talked to him last night, to make sure he would like it, since it's $99, but he said that is something I want to do, which I do, and he doesn't really care. So I went to my back up plan.
I had seen a mechanic's tool box, the kind you see in the auto shops in the garage, big like a dresser, with the many drawers to keep tools laid out so you can easily find them. Hubby and I had looked at Sears at them and they were running $200 plus. But Walmart.com had one with a 68 tool bonus included, with free delivery for only $88 plus tax. And they will deliver it on Wednesday. Woo hoo! I think he will be surprised! I also got a royal purple velour sweat suit with hoodie for only $14, perfect to wear to Red Hat functions.
I ordered canned cat food from Jet.com along with several other things, in hubby's name through my phone so I could get the first time buyer's discount of 20% off. I got it over $35 so shipping is free through them also. That should be here in two days too. The only other thing I need to do is go to Target and get two packs of Pedigree canned dog food for the dogs. Hubby went to the grocery store to buy stuff to make spaghetti, so I had him pick up milk, 10 more cherry yogurts, a spiral ham for Christmas dinner, and a irs rewatching this past season of The Walking Dead, start watching The Commish, and just be together. With things being so tense with bedbugs, money and new car registration looming, we had been snappy at each other without meaning to, which has resulted in strong words on occasion. So we are making up now.
Tomorrow I'm going to make dog biscuits and pullout everything in our gift closet. It will vomit unto the craft room floor. Then I will get all the present put together for the girls and grandkids. Then start wfew cans of cat and dog food to last us until the other stuff gets here.
We are taking the night off again, to spend time upstarapping. Hubby will have to help when he gets home. I will put all the wrapped gifts in sealed plastic bags for hubby to take to work on Tuesday and mail overnight to them.
Tonight I got a Partylite Candle, Big heavy sucker, 3 wick, 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide, off of Offer UP for only $5. I saw it last night, offered the $5 that the seller was asking and met her at Walgreen's to do the exchange. Offer UP is an ap on my phone that you can buy and sell stuff and it lists stuff by picture that you take with your phone, fill out a couple of lines of information, and boom! It's listed. When you go to browse, you have started an account by filling out your confidential address and telephone number. So it lists things by those closest to you and when you go down the list, things get farther away. You put in how far away you want to look at things. It's a big list. When you browse, you see a collection of pictures only. If you want to know more, you click on the picture. If you want to ask a question, there is a button you click on and type in your question. There is a chat feature that you use to communicate so the other party doesn't get any of your personal information, like you do on Craigslist. I like this much better. You chat via this chat room. It just means when I meet, I turn on my Cell Data feature on my cell phone in case the other party has to get a hold of me.
So this candle is even nicer than I expected. It can in it's own box and is ready for shipping. I went to a Partylite Candle party once and bought a small candle just to be nice to the hostess. It was around $5 for a votive. I am guessing the pillar candle I bought went for $50 or so! Score! So I'm revamping what I am giving Drew and Cassie. Once I get all the gifts figured out tomorrow, and look for my mom's birthday present, I will let you know.
I forgot my mom's birthday on Friday! I felt so bad when she told me Saturday! I so have to look at the calendar more! I got her bulldog salt and pepper shakers. For Christmas, one of the things we got my parents was the matching cookie jar. The other thing is 1000 doggie poop bags with a leash dispenser. Practical.
Today was an exhilarating day! I got up this morning in time to get dressed and run out, scrap off the car very quickly, and drive extremely slowly in the Saturn to Walgreen's. I was meeting a lady to buy her Ninja/Magic Bullet blender system at 9am. I get there a couple of minutes after. I turn on my cell data and message her that I'm not driving the red bug, Kiggy. She messages me that her husband is coming and he is in a brown car. So I tell her I'm waiting inside of Walgreen's and I wait for her husband. He's about 15 minutes late and kind of in a brown SUV, but I see him and he is just sitting in the parking lot, so I yell out, at you here about the Ninja? He says yes, so I take the $15 dollars out and ask him how it works. He tells me and I thank him and take it to my car.
I go back into Walgreen's because I saw that they had he canned hams hubby likes on sale 2 for $5, Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup for 79 cents a can, limit 4, and frozen chicken and cheese chimichangas, kind of like a burrito, for 99 cents each, limit 2. Cashews were on sale for $2.99 a good sized bag and Carmex lip stuff was 4 for $4 with a 1000 reward points, equal to $1, so that makes them 4 for $3. I got all 4, put one in my pocket and the others will be stocking stuffers for me.
I drove very slowly back home, as our newish tires aren't making any traction on this snow/ice in our neighborhood streets that are still covered with a layer of it. We don't get plowed like the main streets do, so since it's been cold, nothing has melted. The new tires that we bought this summer are really bad at traction. Next time we are going back to Sears. I don't like these Discount Tire tires at all.
I got home and prayed that Lois would call me and tell me she is picking me up. She had called last week on Thursday, thinking it was Wednesday and it was Bingo day. We laughed. But I hadn't gotten her number put in my phone, so couldn't call her. She called about 1115am, said she would pick me up in half an hour.
I had made my Thanksgiving Jello Salad with the chopped apples, celery, walnuts and pineapple in a 9x13 pan and this time, used 6 boxes of cherry jello. It was really heavy! And I have two bags of gifts to take, they were heavy too!
When Lois came, I managed to get to the car in one trip. Wasn't easy and my arm was falling off. When we got to Lynn's, she helped me carry all my stuff in. I also was carrying my purse. I remembered to get $4 to pay for both mine and Lois's Blackout Bingo pot since she had paid last month when I forgot my purse at home.
It was a festive party and we ate and laughed and talked. Then we played Bingo. We play with a cheat sheet of different types of Bingo games until all the gifts are taken. Then we open up the gifts and put them out for everyone to see. You walk around and decide what you want to steal when you win. Then we set a timer for one hour and play straight Bingo. We play fast and as soon as one or more call Bingo, they only have a minute to steal a gift and we start up again. Even if you win in the first round, you aren't guaranteed to go home with something.
I actually took home 4 prizes. I got some kitchen pot holders, oven mitts, holiday candles, lotion, fuzzy socks, and tea light candles. Then we got our Secret Santa gifts. I had asked for Christmas Tree ornaments from the Dollar Store, bandannas to wear on my head as scarves, or pig stuff for my kitchen, since we have decided to have a tomato and pig theme in there. I got all three! I got a set of pigs wearing Santa jackets as salt and pepper shakers, Christmas ornaments and 4 bandannas! I cleaned up! And there was lots of jello salad left for me to eat at home, yeah! About half the pan was left.
When I got home, I got the mail. I looked at it and there was a check from the Mortgage company for enough money to pay the car registration! And maybe some leftover to pay some down on the payday loans! I have been praying to God for a check in the mail, to help us, and He answered! Praise be to the holy one!
Well, when I called hubby, I left him a message that said I really cleaned up at Bingo and I have the car insurance money covered. Call me back! When he eventually did call me, he hadn't gotten my message yet, so I continued the joke. He asked in hushed tones how much I had won. I started to tell him we all had put $100 in the pot each for Blackout Bingo but started laughing and told him about the check. Then I told him we were putting it in the savings account until we got the registration papers with the amount we needed. Anything over that we would pay on the payday loans. He started to say he wanted to pay off a payday loan, but I cut him off and told him no. He said goodbye and hung up.
Well, I knew something was wrong when he didn't call me when he closed at 8pm. So I called him at 830pm and asked him to pick up buns for his pulled pork or he could just come home and eat it on bread. He was stiff and said he ate already and wasn't hungry, so don't worry about him. Then I knew something was wrong and knew what it was about. But I just said fine, asked him how long he was working and told him I was hoping he didn't have to work late.
When he got home, you could tell he was mad at me. I tried to apologize but he told me I didn't mean it. I said I was sorry that I didn't listen to him about the money, but he stopped me and said he didn't want to talk about it and that I wasn't really sorry. Brother! But my mood was bubbly and I was going to take any of this personally. He went upstairs to change. When he came back down, I tried again. He told me that whenever he has tried to talk to me about money for the last 5 or 6 months, I have been inflexible and rigid. I have told him the way it is and that was that. Hmm, not to my recollection. He said he was trying not to fight with me, we would just do it my way. Good. But I tried to talk to him, he just wasn't willing to talk much. I told him I had a clean comforter and we went upstairs to change the bedding into clean stuff. I had a couple of bedbug bites from the night before and the bedding was two days old.
While we were making the bed, we talked a little, I refused to be anything but bubbly. Eventually, he relaxed and we are ok. I'm still stoked, God has answered my prayers. I had faith in Him that He would help, and He did.
Tomorrow I will be doing lots of laundry and figuring out a dinner menu and grocery list. Hubby will be working late, til 9pm. But we are going to go out to dinner at Village Inn when he gets home to celebrate getting the check.

Monday, December 14, 2015
Today was a dispiriting day. I took my Safris and went to sleep about 1am. I woke up about 6am having to pee. I thought that maybe I would have a hard time going back to sleep, but I didn't. I woke up again just after 9am, with a huge pain, stiff on the side of the neck, my left, that I hurt myself when I fell early Friday morning. I was laying on it. Bad!
I got up and took an Ibuprofen, 800mg, that I have prescribed for my switching headaches I used to get. I still get tension headaches so the doctor still prescribes them. But I knew that it would take effect in a little while, so I got some yogurt and my cola and went back up to bed. I watched some Criminal Minds on ION tv channel until 10am, then turned it over to Quincy on ME tv channel.
I had planned on getting up and stripping the bed, doing laundry, making the Applesauce and cinnamon ornaments, but damned if after every episode of Criminal Minds, I decided to watch "Just one more." I felt listless and unmotivated. I felt like the bedbugs just weren't a priority for me and I didn't want to do anything. All day Sunday I had stayed in bed, hubby doing a big load of clothes, washed, dried, folded and bagged. He brought them upstairs and I just left my on the trunk so I could put them away today. Did I do that today? Nope!
Saturday, hubby and I figured out how much money we had, went through the freezer and figured out food until we get paid tomorrow, Tuesday. We went to the store just after it had been snowing for a couple of hours. With all the food stuffs we needed, I bought some Poise pee pads to start wearing. With me no longer taking my bladder pill, I'm not sure what to expect. I got the moderate protection, so if I start to pee, maybe I can make it to the bathroom before the pad gets filled and I wet my pants. I'm kind of depressed about this. I think that, along with everything else that has happened, I'm going into a depressive state, or finally letting it happen. I'm kind of beat down by my situation and everything. Christmas isn't helping.
It probably doesn't help that I spent all day watching Criminal Minds, a show about murders that commit serial murders that this special department in the FBI has to be called in to solve the cases and find them and save their latest victim. I got bored, so I started reading a book, a collection of short stories written by different people. I don't like short stories, if the story is good, I don't want it to end, I want more. If the story is boring, I feel obligated to finish it anyway. If the story is bad, it just pisses me off. These were, hmm, kind of intense. Each story is a small slice of an intense situation of a different person's life dealing with things like revealing to her mom that she is gay, breaking up with a first college boyfriend, seeing a friend that he slept with once when he was drunk and it turned out bad so they just became friends. Stuff I usually don't read. I didn't know the book was a collection of short stories when I checked it out at the library, I just liked the title and half read the inside cover. But I didn't have anything else to read so I kept reading it. I don't think I will finish it.
I came downstairs at 5pm, to get dinner started for Frank and hubby. I was making Italian chicken for them, I didn't think I could eat it. Italian chicken is just frozen chicken breasts with Italian dressing put over them in a pan, covered in foil, for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Then I take off the foil, cover them some more in dressing and bake them for another half an hour uncovered by foil. Hubby likes his chicken kind of dry.
I made noodles, from a package, that had spinach in them. After I boiled it for 7 minutes, you take it off the burner and let it stand for 2 minutes. They were still a little soupy so I put the burner back on low and cooked them until they were just right for me. I put some salad mix in bowls and set the table for hubby and me. Frank said that his tooth was really bothering him and he couldn't eat.
Hubby got home about 7pm, dinner was ready about 15 minutes before. He was running about half an hour late. We sat down and ate together. I had two bowls of salad and some noodles. My stomach is kind of iffy right now. I drank a glass of diluted eggnog which normally would help, but not tonight.
Starting since Friday, I have been on a lowered dosage of Safris. I was waking up early and not being able to get back to sleep, but couldn't tell if that was from the pain or the lower dose. Sunday and today I'm noticing changes in my mental state, the depression, but don't know if that is from the situations. But both Sunday and today, I have stayed in bed all day and done nothing. Tomorrow I see Steve, my therapist, and get to tell him about all the stuff that has happened over the last couple of days and the lowering of my meds and passing out, hurting myself and everything.
When frank cleaned the kitchen a couple of weeks ago, he moved the scale downstairs so I haven't been able to weigh myself and see if I am losing weight. I haven't been eating much but maintaining about 174 pounds. I'm taking a multi-vitamin and calcium and other stuff but not eating much protein. Tomorrow I have to go pick up another blood test meter and strips so I can check my blood sugars since I'm a type 2 diabetic.

Today was a harrowing day, but I didn't know it! It all started the night before...
I take the psychotropic drug, Safris, at night about half an hour to an hour before I want to go to sleep. If I don't take the med, I won't sleep at all. Won't even get into a resting frame of mind. So at 1230am this morning, I took my med and then at 1am, I laid down and went to sleep within minutes. Well the trouble has started the night before, when I decided that what I really wanted for dinner was some fresh tomatoes cut up with a couple of tablespoons of California French dressing on them. So I cut up 3 roma tomatoes for me, and three for hubby. I ate all of mine, and hubby only about one of his, so I ate his too. It was about 10pm, and it was so good, I got another 3 cut up tomatoes and ate them too. Well, you know I suffer from chronic constipation and am supposed to be taking Miralax everyday, but haven't. So all this fresh fruit, as tomatoes are a fruit not a veg, caused me some intestinal distress, I started having cramps. I kept expecting this would cause me to "move my bowels", but alas, no. But I kept having to go to the bathroom anyway.
So at 1230am, I take my night pill and at 1am, I go to sleep. What we later ffigured out was that at about 120am, a cramp must have woken me up from my drugged induced sleep and caused me to get out of bed and head towards the bathroom. I remember some of this. I remember being very dizzy and reaching out for the dresser and trying to sit down on the trunk at the foot of the bed. According to hubby, there was a tremendous thud! Shaking the house, and he jumped up to find me face-planted on the floor, with my butt up in the air,my knees under me and my arms on my sides. I had passed out and landed on my face.
Next thing I know, he's asking me if I am alright, I'm saying yes, why, what happened? And where am I? He helps me up and gets me back to bed, but I still have to go to the bathroom, so he helps me up to there. According to him, he gets me onto the toilet, turns around for a second, and I pass out again, face planting into the corner of the metal towel rack on the glass shower door. I clenched my teeth hard, started off into space and didn't breath for about 15 seconds. I wasn't responding to him at all, just ridged. Then I took a deep breath and started talking to him. I said I was fine, wanted to go back to bed, and he took me there. He got back in bed and then we went back to sleep. My neck hurt some.
Next thing I know I'm waking up in pain at 630am. I couldn't get comfortable to get back to sleep, so I get up, and hubby hands me the remote, so I get some yogurt and a cola, at an 800mg ibuprofen, and come back to bed to watch tv. When hubby wakes up at 7am, we talk about what happened and couldn't figure out why I was so out of it at this time. So I told him I was going to go into Urgent Care that morning, he asked if I wanted him to drive me, we talked about it but came to the conclusion that he had missed the afternoon of work the day before because he was sick, and I felt fine now, so he was going into work and going to Denver. But he said I should call my doctor first, to see if I could get in instead of just going to Urgent Care. So he kissed me goodbye and left.
At 8am, I call my doctor's office and the appointment scheduler got me in at 915am, but she was adamant that since we don't know why and how I passed out and was so out of it, I shouldn't be driving. So I called hubby and told him the particulars. He said he would come home and pick me up.
He got me and we drove to the doctors. On the way we talked about what happened and I figured out it was the drug that made me so out of it, but I couldn't figure out why I kept passing out. But I had a headache and my neck hurt, I couldn't turn my head to the left.
We got to the doctors and I checked in but didn't have to wait long. Beth, the nurse, took all my vitals, listened to what hubby said happened, I told her about my pain, and then she left. We waited for the doctor and then Beth came back. The doctor wanted a different kind of blood pressure test, one where I was laying down flat for two minutes, then standing, propped up, for two minutes. Then she left and the doctor came in.
Hubby told the doctor what happened, about the seizure and how he recognizes them from having a daughter with epilepsy,my step daughter, Sarah. She would have petit mal seizures. Dr Sena listened to my heart,my neck, my back and my front. Both sides of my neck. Then she went over my medications and left to looks up stuff. When she came back in she said that there was a side effect from the combination of my bladder medication and my Safris, my night pill. It causes motor coordination delays, a neuro problem. She wants me to see a neurologist. In the meantime, she wants a CAT scan to rule out a brain bleed since I hit my head twice, hard, an EKG to rule out cardiac problems, and blood work to check sodium levels and other stuff. All this can be done in the same building so we went downstairs. They took me in right away for the CAT scan and then sent me to the lab for blood work, then sent me back upstairs for the doctor. She wanted us to wait to make sure the Radiologist would read the scans right away. Then she would know what we need to do next.
Well, we waited only for a little bit then the doctor told me all the tests came back normal. She wanted to see me in a week, I could take the ibuprofen for the pain, and she talked to my psychiatrist, Dr Fouss, and I was to immediately stop taking the bladder control pill and Dr Fouss would call me about the Safris. She wanted me to stop taking it all together.
Hubby drove me home, but we stopped at McDonald's for food first. I was going to get some all day breakfast, but when I got there, I saw their sign for the McRib and ordered that. I love their McRib, with the onions, and pickles and bbq sauce. And fries. But none of the food tasted very good, but I ate what I could because I was hungry. When I got home, Dr Fouss called me and we talked.
Dr Fouss had done some research of his own and said that he was going to lower the dosage of the Safris a third to 10mg instead of the 15 I took each night. His concern was not as great as Dr Sena for the Safris but he has a lot more experience with the drug than Dr Sena. And complete stoppage would send me into nasty withdrawls. I told him the results of all the tests and he had no other tests he wanted done but did say he wanted me to come see him in two weeks. We said our goodbyes and hung up.
I spent the rest of the day home, doing some laundry and planning on cooking dinner, the roast we had in the fridge had to be cooked that night. When Frank, the roommate got home, we chatted for a little and I asked him to get the rotisserie out of the garage. When hubby got home at 5pm, for a quick lunch break, he put the roast on. Then he told Frank what happened that morning and then the two of them decided I should go upstairs and lay down and rest for the rest of the evening. Frank would take care of me,check in with me, be available by text message to get me anything, while hubby worked until 1030pm to catch up on paperwork so he wouldn't have to go in on Saturday, when we were expecting a big snow storm.
I took some more ibuprofen, changed into my jammies and rested, watching ION tv. I texted Cassie and told her what happened. We texted a little, she was concerned at first but then mad at the doctors for not catching the contraindication. I assured her I was fine. She was on her way to Steamboat Springs for a weekend event she was attending for her distillery company she does marketing for. I told her to have fun, enjoy and talked to me when she got back.
I noticed later that evening that my neck was hurting more, but it was because I was spending so much time looking down at my phone on some of the aps like Wish, Offer Up, Lets Go and Instagram. I put the phone down and relaxed.
Hubby got home about 11pm. He made me a cheese and cracker plate to eat, got some leftover roast for himself, and we settled in to watch Steven Colbert. After that was over, we watched the first episode of Project Runway Junior. Then hubby put on something he wanted to watch, an old Clint Eastwood movie, but I know it wasn't The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. I took my reduced night pills and a pain pill and managed to get to sleep. I was worried as I didn't know if I would go to sleep on the reduced meds.
I take the psychotropic drug, Safris, at night about half an hour to an hour before I want to go to sleep. If I don't take the med, I won't sleep at all. Won't even get into a resting frame of mind. Thursday, December 10, 2015
Today was an unexpected day. I expected to get up, watch Quincy, go to Walmart, do a couple of loads of laundry, make applesauce and cinnamon ornaments and be on the computer while the rattie boys ran around, But that's not what happened.
I got up with hubby when he got up for work. I watched Quincy and then kissed hubby goodbye. I was watching The Rockford Files when Lois called me and asked me if I was ready for her to pick me up for Bingo. I panicked and said give me 10 minutes to get dressed, I had forgotten. But then we talked for a few minutes and realized that Bingo was on the 16th, which was next week. She was all ready and had cooked her potluck dish! I was glad I hadn't forgotten and we both got a good laugh. I went back to watching Rockford File when Janice called. She wanted me to come over and help her decorate the bushes in her front yard. I said sure and got up and dressed. Then I went over.
I helped her hang bulbs on one and a half bushes then told her I had to go to the store and get started with my day. I offered to pick her up lunch since she was waiting for a call from a loan officer about their request for a loan to build a house in Florida.
I called hubby. It was 1pm and he had gotten into work at 1130am, so I didn't think he wanted to take lunch this early but I wanted to ask him. And offer to bring him food for later if he wanted. I got him at a good time, he was just getting ready to leave to take a work check to the post office down on Fountain and agreed to meet me at Schlotsky's for food. Couldn't stay long but said it would be nice to see me and eat for 15 minutes.
I got there just before hubby did, he walked in as I was ordering. We got lunch to go, as he had the great idea that I would get in the Saturn and ride with him to Fountain. I said sure and we got in the car. We got to talk about a new business we are considering for making more money to pay off bills faster and soon we were at the post office. He went in and did his thing, I read my book and then he was done. We had each eaten half of our sandwiches on the way down. So when he dropped me back off at the restaurant for me to pick up the bug, Kiggy, he started not feeling well. So he told me he was going to stop back by the house to use the bathroom before going back to work. I kissed him goodbye and headed off to Walmart.
At Walmart, I got the stuff for my secret santa gift for Bingo. I got a snowflake patterned fleece throw $5, a Balsam Berry scented jar candle $3, a snowflaked plastic reusable seal-able container $3, and a bog of Indulgent Mix to go in it $5. It has three types of chocolate chips, two types of raisins and dried cranberries. It adds up to $16, $1 over budget but that's ok. I don't know the person and there wasn't any suggestions on things they would like, so I'm giving them a cozy night in.
I also picked up 4 bags of Salted Caramel cookie mix, a gift pack of hot sauces as a gift for Frank, the roommate, and some milk. Then I picked out a new beta fish for the tank and named him Fred. I put it all in the trunk and started to drive home.
On the way, I stopped at Wendy's and picked up a burger for Janice but since I was so late, I put her money back in the bag. Just before I got home, hubby called and said he was still at home and throwing up. He had called him, given instructions to shut down the bookstore at 6pm, and he was staying home. Lunch had not settled well. I told him I would be home in a few minutes.
I took Janice her burger. Took her a few minutes to get to the door as she was on the phone trying to work out a computer problem with her husband and a friend. Then I took everything inside and told hubby I was home. He was still throwing up, so I got him something to drink, remade the bed with clean bedding and settled him in when he was ready. I put stuff away and sat with him for a little while. I watched Dr Phil before I remembered I had to call and cancel my doctor's appointment for the next day. I did that then fed the beasties. I got everybody taken care of and hubby had woken up, hungry, so I made Cheesburger Hamburger Helper. I was going to have salads with it but all my bags of lettuce went bad so... I tried to eat some of it and could only eat a little. It was the hamburger and cheese combination, so I drank a glass of milk. I think when I go upstairs I will cut up some roma tomatoes and put some Italian dressing on them and eat that.
I bagged up the dirty bedding and took that downstairs. I wrote to my cousin on Facebook, she can't write back as her computer is in the shop for repairs but she can read it as she bought a new tablet. She has sent me a brief, badly written message this and said she expects it to be out in a week or two, she will write then. So I just send her messages.
The rattie boys got to come out and have some fabulous dinner, some of the Hamburger Helper, romaine lettuce and fresh tomatoes. They ran around for a couple of hours and now they are back in. I'm getting ready to head up to sit with hubby and watch The Apprentice UK, Project Runway Junior with Kelly Osborne and Big Bang Therory. If we are still up for it, then Elementary. Hubby says there is a New Zealand series on Netflix I should watch, about this family of brother that on their 21st birthdays, they get hit by lightening, find out they are actually these Norse Gods, with powers, and how they live. It's a comedy and when I can remember what the name of it is, I'll tell you.
Tomorrow, I plan to do all the things I had planned for today.

Today was a boring day. I woke up before hubby, way before the alarm he had set at 10am. I woke up at 830am. I laid there trying to sleep but my mind kept going over to money stress so finally I got up, intending to go let the dogs out and in,get some yogurt and cola, and come back up to bed to read.
I did all that but when I got back in bed, hubby groped around, thought for me, but then found the remote and handed it to me with the instructions that it won't bother him if I turn on the tv, he was going back to sleep. He's been staying up to 3am or later over the past 4 days off so had a hard time getting to sleep around 1am, his normal time to sleep. He rolled over and slept until 10am.
I watched the alternative channels we found, the ION channel and COZI. Then at 10am, I turned over to ME tv and watched Quincy. Hubby left at 11am for work and when the Rockford Files were over, I got dressed and went downstairs to feed everybody.
Then I spent the rest of the day doing laundry. Boring! Found more bedbugs in the dryer lint. Kept bagging everything. But haven't been bitten in over a week! Marks are starting to fade but still can feel the scabs and see the red marks that I got last. Hubby came home around 4pm, got frustrated that his mj license hasn't shown up yet and the office closes at 4pm, so he will have to call tomorrow. It's been 40 days since they received the paperwork and we should have gotten it by now. So he got some chili and took back off for work. Told me that he would be working until about 1030pm, he has 3 big projects to get done by Friday evening so will be late every night. Good for the paycheck, bad for me. I miss him.
I didn't change the bed, it will be the third night we will be sleeping on it. I checked it really carefully and didn't see any little bedbugs on it, so will take the chance. I so don't want to do anymore laundry tonight. I'll strip the bed and do it all in the morning. I do have to run out and get white glue so I can make Applesauce and Cinnamon Ornaments. I've viewed several ornament recipes on the internet and so far the best one I'm coming up with is 1 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 and a half cups of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of cloves, 1 tablespoon of nutmeg and 2 tablespoons of glue. Mix it until it forms a ball. If too dry, add a little more applesauce. If too wet, add a littlemore cinnamon. Once it forms a ball, put some cinnamon down on the table and roll out the dough until it's 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut it, use a spatula to pick them up and put them on cookie sheets. Bake at 200 degrees for a couple of hours until dry and hard. Let cool overnight. Then decorate with paint and ribbons if you want. I might decorate with glitter glue on one side. I'm planning on using these as my gift for the Red Hat's Christmas party lunch on the 19th. I might try to see if I can press beads into them while they are wet and see if they will stick. That would be nice.
My friend. Holly, went on Pintrest and said there is a lot of home remedies for bedbugs on there, so I'm going to check it out. Cassie showed me how to search it and look things up when she came out.

Today was a therapy day. I remembered late last night to wake hubby up and ask him to set the alarm for 9am because I had therapy today at 10am. As it was, I woke up with the alarm but laid there for a few minutes contemplating my naval. Then I got up and let the dogs out. While they were out, just Baby and Kira as Cookie sleeps until 10am, if you let her. I got my cola and yogurt. Last time I went shopping to buy yogurt, I only bought 4 peach and 6 cherry. Now I wish I got all cherry. So I let Baby back in and go back upstairs to bed. Hubby was lying there, eyes closed but not asleep. He handed me the tv remote and I turned on the tv to the ION channel. Some type of cop show was on, as it always is with that channel, except on weekends when it shows Christmas movies, like Lifetime. And they have a show they produced for their channel, Saving Hope. I've caught it a few times and it's pretty good.
I got to therapy a couple of minutes late as I put off leaving until the last possible moment. Hubby was feeding all the animals while I was gone, so I was just lingering. Steve and I talked about what I've done this week and my resentment of Frank bringing in bedbugs to the house. I told him, Steve, not Frank, that I'm trying to stop blaming Frank and just get on with getting rid of them. I showed him a picture of the Christmas tree we had put up. And we talked about my new role of doing housework a lot every day now. And I told him that I think God gave me bedbugs to teach me to do housework, and have an uncluttered house. And to get rid of stuff.
When I got home, hubby was up and dressed. He was feeding animals then we went to Wendy's got get our free lunch. Earlier in the week, last week, he had picked up an order from Wendy's and when he got home, we found out that they had done the order wrong. Well, if you call the manager and tell them who you are and what was wrong and are polite, they will put your name down in their books and give you the same order free next time you come in, so we got free lunch!
We went to the bank to deposit some money in so the tax check wouldn't bounce and then onto Lowe's. We were looking for the little dishes you put under your bed legs to stop bedbugs from crawling up the legs and getting into bed with you. They didn't have any there but we did find they had a fogger and a spray for bedbugs. We have to wait until we get paid on the 15th, then we can go and buy the fogger. Each container has three canisters in it and I think we need two boxes of them to do the whole house. It says on the box to repeat in 4 weeks. So in the meantime, we have to make arrangements with my parents to come get the birds and two of the cats, Dalyhlia and Tommy, to take to their house for two days. The cats can come back the next day, the fogger says it takes two hours to work, then you have to air out the house for two hours before coming back in and staying it. And if you can still smell it, stay out longer. But birds are sensitive so I don't want to take a chance on bringing them back for two to three days.
I have been taking Inry out of the cage every day. Christmas, the new cockatiel,is refusing to come out or even step up. So I'm trying to take it slow with her. I'm going to do some internet research on the best way to tame the birds and try. I really love taking Inry out and having him ride around on my shoulder or sit on my computer while the rattie boys are put away.
Inry has enjoyed being out too. He gets excited when I come over to the cage. He steps up right away and gives a little hop from my fingers to my shoulder when I lift him up. When he starts flying offmy shoulder, like if the dog starts barking a lot or something startles him, I will put him back up on my shoulder, but if he keeps doing it, I put him back in the cage. The dogs and cats have been interested in seeing him when he flies off, and crowd around him but the only time he lost any feathers was when Baby stepped on his tail, and he lost 4 tail feathers! I would like to cut his flight feathers but he is being so social right now, don't want to scare him by wrapping him in a towel and doing it.
We went to Walmart to see if they had the bed leg containers but they didn't. They didn't even have the foggers and spray. So we picked up a couple of things and left. We worked our way over to the Dollar Store so I could pick up some garland. When I walked in I saw the hanging garland, 9 feet for $1, but I was looking for the packaged stuff. It's thin but cheaper, 50 feet for $1. I got two packs of green, red, gold, and silver. I also got some Christmas cards - a box of 16 for $1, and a little perfume and lotion set for $1. I got that last one for me to use as a stocking stuffer.
When we got home, I finished putting ornaments on the tree, the ones mom and dad gave us, and 58 miniature candy canes striped in red and green. I also put the felt tree skirt under the tree. It's red with white reindeer around the border. I got that at the Dollar store too.
I did some more laundry, hubby made chili with stewing beef for dinner, and we are headed up to watch tv. Not much on tv tonight, so we will figure out a movie or something to watch. We will be watching The Daily Show to see John Stewart back on it as a guest.
Tomorrow I'm planning on doing laundry and doing the applesauce and cinnamon ornaments. I plan on making a few batches of them so I can give them out for gifts.

Today was a fun day! Today hubby and I had plans with my parents to celebrate hubby's birthday so we had to get up by 10am. But both of us woke up before that, I woke up about 930am and he was already in the bathroom doing his morning constitutional. So I went downstairs and got my yogurt and cola and came back up to bed to watch tv. By the time I got back upstairs, it was 950am, and Quincy would be on in 10 minutes. Mom and dad were picking us up at 11am to take us out to lunch then to the Christmas Town at Micheal Garmen's.
I broke away from Quincy long enough to get a shower, then get dressed while hubby showered. I was still getting dressed when my parents called that they were just around the corner. So I yelled down to hubby, who went down to feed the beasties, and when they pulled up, he ran out and told them I would only be another minute, I was taking my morning meds.
They took us to a place called Bon Ton's on the west side. The west side, Old Colorado City, is where I really looked hard to find a house to buy. It's considered the more creative and artistic side of town and there is a lot of self expression in the housing over there. But try as we might, we couldn't find anything in our price range that didn't need a ton of work done. Hence, we bought our current house. More room, cheaper price. If you can call $164,000 cheap!
But the food at Bon Ton's was really good. I was able to order off the senior menu and got the three chicken strips and fries, of which I only ate one chicken strip and some fries. Hubby got the two tamales smothered in green chili with some sides of something. Mom got the senior chicken parmesan, and dad got the Divorced Eggs. Divorced Eggs are two eggs, over easy, one on each side of the platter, with home fries down the middle separating them, with one egg with a red sauce and the other egg with a green sauce. And sourdough toast. Funny!
Then we drove down two blocks and found a parking space right next to Micheal Garmen's. Micheal Garmen is a famous sculptor who is known for his cowboys, firemen, police and a few other sculptures. He makes them and then mass produces them to make them affordable to everybody. Like, a statue of a cowboy was around $100 for the unpainted one, $120 for the hand painted one. Mom and dad bought an unpainted nurse for my sister, Collette, as a graduation present for when she finishes nursing school in a year or two. They got 30% off, so with tax, it only came to $52. That's a great price. I think they bought the display one.
But we were there to go into Christmas town. It's a set up where you walk down this hallway and they have a neighborhood that Micheal has designed and produced, row house, old New York. We are talking about the old neighborhoods with low class living. Ladies in slips hanging out windows, wino passed out on a bench, kids playing on the stoop, people in the bar or the diner. There is a whole neighborhood with windows you could look in and there were holograms speaking here and there, to scale for the neighborhood. There was a pool hall, a store, apartment buildings, a barber, a tattoo parlor, and many other things. There was pictures on the walls in the apartments, sinks, ironing, a piano teacher teaching a little boy. It was amazing. And they had brought in Christmas decorations to scale.
It was so cool! And dad signed us up for the scavenger hunt. Each of the four of us had a different set of things to look for, with a couple of overlapping questions. It was so much fun to search and look at everything. Finally, we had to go ask for a hint for three things we couldn't find. And one of them, the lady couldn't find it either! Hubby finally found it with a hint from another lady at the counter. He showed me where it was and I would have never found it as I couldn't read the name over the door of the building down this alleyway that we had to look from afar.
We were there about 2 hours. It was fun and I think when Drew and Cassie come down for Christmas,we will take them there. They want to go to the Electric Safari at the Zoo again, but we are still looking for the money to renew my membership, which has to be done soon. This will only be $20 for the four of us and that is cheaper than the zoo, and right now, that counts.
When we got home, we got our car and went over to mom and dad's. Hubby was trying to help dad with a computer problem. They eliminated several things it could be and we left with dad being told to call technical support to get his password reset.
Hubby and I went on to Costco to get dry cat food, dry dog food, stomach pills and vitamin D. We got everything but the vitamin D, but also picked up some nilla wafers, romaine lettuce and a cooked whole chicken. I wasn't ready to go home and wanted to eat dinner there with hubby, extend the togetherness we had during the day. I didn't want to go home and eat with Frank. So we went to the snack bar and I got a Berry smoothie and piece of cheese pizza, and hubby got a polish sausage with sauerkraut and a soda. It was nice just sitting there and talking and eating. Just before they closed at 6, we left. When walking to the car, Hubby stopped, and said I thought this was where we parked the car. It was an empty handicapped space. I pointed to the space right next to it and said, we did, right there. We brought Kiggy, the bug. He slapped his forehead and said Oh, I forgot! Too funny! He does this every time we take Kiggy out.
When we got home, Frank had already fed the animals, except for the rattie boys and Tally, who we think is still out. So I got the rattie boys fed, sat with them fora couple of hours for out of the cage time, and had Inry,my cockatiel, out on my shoulder too. So far the rattie boys weren't paying any attention to him, and when Zeke was leaning off the table to sniff in the air in his direct, I didn't encourage it. I think the rats would kill my birds. So right now, Inry is sitting on top of my computer screen while the rattie boys are in the cage in their hammock. They really like that I hooked up a towel for them to snuggle inside of the hammock. I thought they were getting a little cold.
We have finished watching all the Resident Evil movies and are ready for the 6th and final one to come out next year. It's all been in good fun. Season 11 of The Apprentice UK is going on and we have been watching those episodes to get caught up on YouTube. I have just started watching Project Runway Philippines again and think I'm on episode 7 next. It's interesting as half the time, they they are talking in English, and the other half of the time, in their language. It starts with a T.
Yesterday, hubby and I put up the Christmas tree. This is the first year we didn't put it up in the picture window in the craft room. I wanted to keep the sitting area that Drew and Cassie had set up for us and so put it it in the middle of the room, right across from the mirrored coat closet doors, so the Christmas tree lights, it's a pre-lit tree, reflect off the doors. And it's a white tree with pastel lights in green, blue, red and yellow. We recently went to the Dollar Store and bought small ball ornaments in packs with plain, frosted and sparkly. We got them in green, red and gold. Then we bought red and green bells. I had two packs of gold bells at home. Our old ornaments were breaking and there weren't that many of them anymore, so I wanted to get new ones. Then I painted pine cones I had picked up with hubby from his school at the beginning of summer. I used glitter glue in red, gold and green. At first I didn't think they went with all the sleek and shiny balls and bells, but after we got them all on, it looks good! And if you catch it just right, the pine cones sparkle. And mom had picked up some silver and white ornaments in the same size balls for us that look like deep sea diver old fashioned head pieces. Maybe I can find the camera tomorrow and get a picture of the ornaments and the tree to post on here. That would be neat.
Tomorrow I have therapy and then hubby and I will be going through books to find books as presents for Laura's kids, in fact, I think we will give everyone a book for a gift too. But then we will also be going through all the books in the garage to see what we want to keep for ourselves and what we want to take to the used book store to sell for trade.

Today was a nullity day. Hubby wasn't going into work until his regular time, 1130am or a little early so when I woke up, he was still here. We watched Quincy together, for the most part, until he had to get ready for work. Neither of us had any bedbug bites. So I stayed in bed watching Rockford File and when I was ready, I got up and went to the bathroom. Then I started my daily search for bedbugs to see if I could find any, meaning I would have to strip the bed and wash everything, so if I found none, then I would make the bed and we could sleep on the same bedding two nights in a row. But when I came back from the bathroom, there was a big bedbug crawling on my pillow. And when I moved the pillow, there was another. So I squished them both, leaving blood smears on the pillow cases and stripped the bed. I pulled up the mattress all around and didn't see any more. But still that made 3 more loads of laundry I would have to do today.
I left and went to Walgreens. I was supposed to meet a lady who wanted my Unicorn Tarot cards, but she never showed up. Hubby told me to go out to lunch but instead, I went into Walgreens and bought 4 packs of this chicken salad with crackers kits. One is just enough to fill me up and was what I wanted for lunch. So I sat in the parking lot reading my book, Candy Corn Murder, and eating the chicken salad on crackers.
I next went to Rescued Hearts, the thrift store that raises money in order to give grants to various organizations that rescue animals. I had some clothes to donate to them. I had washed and bagged them and double twistie tied them so they were clean.
When I got home, I fed all the animals, started laundry, folded the load in the dryer and put it all away. When I went to put away hubby's shirts, I saw that he had stuffed his bags too full and not twistie tied them. So I some time bagging clothes in new bags and store some of his clothes in bags in the closet, so he would have less in his drawers.
I cleaned the litter boxes out, cooked some frozen mexican casserole that I had made and frozen, for Frank for dinner. And I worked on decorating more pine cones with glitter glue. Slowly I'm getting them done. I let the rattie boys out for a while, fed everybody again, cleaned up where Baby threw up her dinner, and shampooed the carpet with a spray can. Tomorrow I'll vacuum it up.
Hubby is working until 10pm tonight. About 945pm I will put the Mexican casserole in the oven to start heating up for him. It's still kind of frozen so will take awhile to bake. I might even eat some of it with him.
Tomorrow I have to call the doctor's office and make arrangements to not pay them until January, since we don't have the money to pay them right now. I also have to call the dentist and put them off until January.
I'm stressed about money. I'm depressed about the Planned Parenthood shooting in my town, the mass killing in San Bernadino, and the news saying that there has been over 300 mass shootings this year alone in the United States. I may have misheard, but I don't think so. I'm stressed about Christmas. I'm stressed about bedbugs. I'm hoping that doing the Christmas decorating will help me out of my funk. And maybe chocolate. I think I will go eat a box of Raisinettes.

Today was a devastating day. It started off fine, hubby woke me up at 930am, to tell me he was heading into work and I asked him if I needed to feed the beasties and he said he had already done it, except for the rats. So I got up and fed the rattie boys. He told me that I could go back to sleep but I told him I was awake. So I got some french toast I had made a week ago and put in the freezer, and popped a couple of slices into the toaster. Hubby didn't want any, so he kissed me goodbye and left. I got my french toast, cut it up into bite sized pieces and put blueberry syrup on it. Then I took my plate, my fork and a cola and went back upstairs. I was up in time to watch Quincy. Yeah!
So I watched it and ate, I had put the gate up downstairs and left the dogs down. After awhile, I could hear them whining and knew they had to go out. When Quincy was over, I went down and let them out. Then I came upstairs and started to strip the bed and check for bedbugs. I found two on hubby's side. I found them on the sheets where the pillow was. I checked the pillows and lifted all around the mattress and those were the only two I found. I stripped the bed, the pillows and bagged everything. I took the clothes that hubby had left on the floor and the clothes he had up on the dresser down to the washer. I started a load with the clothes.
Then I took some shots for the selling aps of a couple of items I no longer needed and put them up for sale. I started taking the rattie boys cage apart to give it a really good scrub. They had pulled down all their towels before so I cleaned out and took out the hammock to put in a clean one. I cut a towel to the size to go over the hammock, to give them something to snuggle in now that it's getting colder. I have noticed that they have been going down into the tree, where they had shredded some of the newspaper to make a little nest. And they had brought some of the shredded newspaper into the hammock. So I figured this might left them stay warmer. And I have seen other rat owners with similar set ups for their ratties, so I thought I would try it.
I scrubbed and soaked and really cleaned the craft table and the cage. I scrubbed the tree for thm since they sit on the top of it all the time. Zeke came over when I was scrubbing the table to see what I was doing and walked around in the soapy water for a little. Then he and Dylan cuddled up in the travel cage. I threw the clothes into the dryer and started the sheets to wash. That's as far as I got on the laundry today. Eventually I got the rattie boys cage reassembled, clean towels put back on the cage floors, and the cover for the hammock in place. But when Zeke went up to look at it, he didn't burrow in, so I got a safety pin and pinned up the opening so they could just go under. That seemed to work. They spent their afternoon nap time under the top in the hammock.
About 3pm, hubby called and said that he was going to take lunch early and come home. I told him that I was just about to put on some shoes and go to the store to get buns for the Kari Dogs for dinner and some yogurt for my breakfast. He said go ahead and do that, and pick me up some baked chicken, a breast and a drumstick, for his lunch. I told him sure and headed off.
When I got to the store, I got my stuff and a snack cake I found that looked good called Cherry Cordiels, or something like that, chocolate cakes with cherry frosting filling. I checked with the deli but the baked chicken still had 10 minutes to go which meant it would be 20 minutes before I got any, so I paid for my stuff and went to KFC.
At KFC, I got his two pieces of chicken in a combo, so I could have the soda and he could have coleslaw and a biscuit. When I got home,he was there. When I walked in, he said he had just gotten there himself. I put away my groceries and he sat down to eat. He thanked me for the KFC but said next time, don't go there as we are so broke, we can't afford to eat out anymore. I agreed and told him to enjoy it in the meantime.
Hubby told me that he is taking Monday and Tuesday off next week so he can use up his personal time off before the end of the year, where he would lose it if he didn't. So Monday we are getting picked up by my parents to be taken to see Michael Garmen's Christmas Town. Mom and Dad are buying the tickets as their birthday present to hubby. It should be lots of fun. Mom said that they have been before and it's really fascinating, all the work he does on it.
When hubby left, I got out some newspaper and sat down at the kitchen table and pulled out the three kinds of glitter glue I bought, a bag of pine cones, white thread and scissors. When hubby and I had gone to the Dollar Store to buy Christmas ornaments for the tree this year, we settled on red, green and gold as the colors for the tree. I got balls in those colors, bells in red and green, and miniature candy canes with green and red stripes. I have brass bells at home to use for gold bells. But one of the ornaments I really liked was the glittered pine cones they had, 2 for $1. And they were in red. They weren't real pine cones. But it got me to thinking, at the beginning of summer, I made hubby get out with me and pick up two bags of pine cones from the pine trees at the school, and they were still in the trunk of the car. I could go to Walmart and buy glue and glitter and make them myself! Perfect!
So when hubby and I had gone to Walmart to get glue and glitter, we found glitter glue in red, green and gold and got that instead. I figured it skipped a step and maybe this way the glitter wouldn't get quite everywhere.
So at 4pm, I sat down at the kitchen table and opened the bottles of glitter glue. I got out the paintbrushes I bought to use and figured out how to wind the thread onto the pine cone to make a loop for the hook to go into. Then I tried to paint on the glitter glue. Well, that didn't work, so I washed out the brush and then tried to squeeze the bottle and smear the glue on through the tip. Much better. Through trial and error, I found out the green glitter glue is the hardest to put on, the gold glitter glue is the hardest to see and the red glitter glue comes out just fine. I finally figured out how to hold them to put the glitter glue on and turn it. I laid them down on the newspaper and when one got left on one side a little too long and stuck, I learned to turn them frequently when drying. In 45 minutes, I got 4 done.
Then I took a break and make Kari Dogs for Frank for dinner. They are beef hot dogs that are cut almost all the way through length-wise. Then I put in a strip of cheddar cheese and 4 half dill pickle chips. I take half a piece of bacon, toothpick it at the top, cover the dog, and toothpick it at the bottom. Then I put it on a broiler pan that I spray with a PAM like spray. I made 5 of these for Frank. I made 5 of these for hubby and put them in the fridge under plastic until he was due to get home, to be cooked then. Frank liked them so much, he ate one, and came back for two more. Then he said he would take the other two to work for lunch the next day.
I continued working on the pine cones and got 9 done by 8pm. Hubby wasn't due home until about 9, but I was done. The Closer was on tv, I would put hubby's Kari Dogs in the oven at 330 degrees at 845pm, for half an hour, and he should be home by 915pm. But I was tired and didn't want to do anything else anymore. So I turned my pine cones some more and sat at the table watching tv. Letting the dogs in and out. I had long since fed them all dinner and all the cats were in.
Hubby got home just after I pulled dinner out of the oven. I had washed the dished, emptied the dishwasher, and checked the dryer to make sure the clothes were dry. I will fold and put them away tomorrow. I sat with hubby and ate some jello salad while he ate dinner. I had some beef barely soup for lunch and wasn't really hungry.
Tomorrow I'm going to keep working on the pine cones. It's going to take me awhile to do two bags of them. I'm also meeting a lady at 1pm to sell her some tarot cards that I never used. I'm trying to get rid of stuff and [put things on some selling aps. We could really use the money to pay bills. And we really could use the space of getting rid of stuff. Don't worry, nothing I sell is infected with bedbugs. It's all washed and cleaned and checked. And most of the stuff isn't from those two rooms. I'm a responsible bedbug owner. Haha
The devastating part came in when hubby told me about the shooting that took place today in San Bernadino, California. 14 dead and 17 injured. It took place in a community center that hosts developmentally challenged individuals as a day care. Come to find out there is a meeting room that is open to the public for rental and there was a meeting going on. Three gunmen in body armor came in, shot up the place and left. The police got there after they left. There was a manhunt and when I turned on the tv to watch the news, the police had stopped a black SUV and there had been a shootout. Later they confirmed that two people were killed in the vehicle, a man and a woman, and a third person had run away, so they were searching this neighborhood. Eventually the authorities said they had a third person detained and that two individual believed to be the gunmen were dead. This third person may or may not be involved. And this may or may not be an act of terrorism.
The last think I heard was that the Muslim organization was getting ready to have a press conference denouncing the acts of violence and had a relative of the one person the authorities had released the name of. I'm going to see if hubby can pull up that news conference for me to watch when we go upstairs here in a few minutes.
I'm not sure how this is all affecting me. In my own city here, Colorado Springs, just a few days ago, we had a man go on a shooting spree in Planned Parenthood, killing 3 and wounding many others, making a hostage standoff for several hours. And now this. It doesn't seem quite real, you know? But it's happening right here, in my own town. I think I'm numb.
Tuesday, December 1, 2015
Today was a lackadaisical day. I had therapy and needed to get up at 910am. Hubby was going to be in at work by 8am, so he kissed me while I was still sleeping, made sure the alarm was set for me, and left. I woke up to the alarm. Baby and I were snuggled back to back, Helen was behind my knees and Dahlylia was on my tummy pillow. Quite an entanglement to get out of to shut off the alarm. Then I cuddled everyone for a little bit before getting out of bed.
I got dressed, checked the bed and under the mattress for bedbugs, didn't see any, so decided we would give the sheets a second night. No bites on me. I left for therapy after telling everybody I would feed them when I got back home.
I talked to Steve at therapy about how to overcome this madness I have at Frank for not only bringing in the bedbugs, but letting the problem get so out of hand that it spread. It's affected me physically and mentally, on a daily basis. To his face, I have not said anything to him, I don't see a point to that. The only think it would do if I told him how angry and disgusted I am with him, would have the possible outcome of him moving out, and the damage is already done. His moving out wouldn't help anything, but make it worse. We are dependent on the money he gives us for food and bills. We would be more screwed if he was to leave. Steve said he understood that and thinks I am right. He said I am in the middle of the bedbug war and it's really hard to forgive someone while you are still suffering through the situation. This may take months, a year, before I can do that. OK, not what I wanted to hear, but good to know that me not being able to let it go and just trust Frank to take care of things is a normal response. He violated the safety of my home for me. This is going to take time to repair.
I also had a thought. God sent me bedbugs so I would become a better wife and finally have an uncluttered home. And by better wife, I mean a better housewife who actually does housework now. I do laundry several times a day, vacuum every other day, and am downsizing all my belongings.
I found several aps on my phone for selling sites to get rid of stuff. Everything is thoroughly cleaned and inspected that I am putting up for sale, and none of it has come from the two rooms that bedbugs have been located it. I am hoping to make some money to catch up on the bills that we couldn't pay having to deal with the bedbugs. And clear out stuff that I don't use anymore.
Tomorrow I am going to use my new breadmaker. I'm going to see if it has a recipe for making rolls, so it will process the dough, then I will pull it out and make hot dog buns out of it. Tomorrow I'm going to make Kari's Dogs for dinner. Spoiler: it contains bacon!
