Today was a relaxing day. I started off by sleeping it. I didn't wake up until 1030am! That's the latest I have slept in for awhile. It's been a really busy weekend for me.
Friday, I came downstairs and stayed at my craft table, talking to the rattie boys and playing on the computer. Then I had to get ready to go to a Red Hat function. Judtihmary and Joanne were picking me up about 5. So I got dressed in my black skirt, purple tshirt and new black 1/2 inch heel flats. Perfect for what we had planned for the evening! The ladies picked me up and we went downtown to a restaurant called Croquettes. It was a hip mid-sized place. Judithmary said they were a non-gluten place but I didn't really think that after seeing their menu. I got the chicken salad sandwich and regular fries. Normally all their fries are tossed in a truffle oil, that's what they are known for, but truffle just tastes like dirt to me so I preferred them without it. The bread on my sandwich was homemade, a little thick so halfway through the sandwich, I just opened the bread and ate the chicken salad off the bread. Then I ate about 2/3rds of my fries. We skipped dessert and went for a walk downtown.
Downtown has a lot of statues and art around so that is what we were seeing. We were also out displaying our outfits, showing off. We got a lot of comments, How do you do, ladies? and You all look very nice today. We even got one group of guys that sang One Eyed, One Horse Flying Purple People Eater, at us. But unfortunately, there were a lot of homeless people downtown and we cut our walk short. We ended up at the candy store where I bought almost a pound of salt water taffy, which is hubby's favorite, just to let him know I was thinking of him. We walked back to our cars and Judithmary, Joanne and I went to Dairy Queen. Now I had my mouth set on an Orange Julius but their machine was down so I got a mango/pineapple smoothie. Though I drank it, it really didn't do it for me.
When I got home that night, around 830pm, hubby wasn't home yet. He had been working in Denver all day and stayed late to finish processing the books he got in, getting them into the computer system and getting them up on the shelves for sale for Monday. He walked in just as I started to feed the dogs. He fed the cats and cleaned out the litter boxes. I fed the rats.
Saturday, we both woke up early, around 830am. He jumped up and mowed the lawn right away while it was still cool. Didn't stop him from sweating, though! Then he came in and cleaned my bathroom. Not spick and span clean, but a general wipedown. It looks much better than it did before. Then it was time for me to get ready to head out to the Zoo.
On Saturdays, I have been working at the Zoo, holding our joey and Australian lizards. During June and the first week of July I will have all 30 hours of Docent work in, so I will have met my 30 hour obligation for our fiscal year. So if I don't want to, I don't have to work anymore for the rest of our fiscal year, but that's not what I'm going to do. I'm just getting my obligation out of the way so when I do work, I will be over my hours and not have to cram them in at the end of the fiscal year again, like I've done for the past 2 years. In fact, I signed up to work 2 more Saturdays in July. I might sign up to work some more Wednesdays but not sure if I want to keep this pace up at the Zoo. It's getting hotter and I generally don't like to work when it's really hot. I have no plans to work in August at all.
So hubby drove me up to the Zoo. Our car started to overheat in the stop and go of the traffic to get on the Zoo grounds so we sped up some going up the hill. One of the staff spotted us and balled me out, and we explained what happened. He then offered us water for the car if we needed it and I left. I reminded hubby that we had to stop by Holly's house on the way home so I could drop off Abbey's birthday present and we could have a hot dog or a brat. Abbey was turning 2 and I had gotten her a marker/watercolor pad, some watercolors and washable markers. I had also gotten her a spirit stick, a baton type of stick with glitter and small colors microballs in it that you can stand on end and watch. Kids love them. Heck, I love them. I will have to get one for myself, they are a good way to distract yourself from bad thoughts.
So when hubby picked me up from the Zoo, I was in a great mood. The animal handling had gone well, the guests had been steady and time passed quickly. The other Docent was Kay and I was grateful for her as I had no one else signed up to work with me as of Wednesday. So I was caught off guard when hubby told me he was really mad at me. I was scheduling up his weekends and he had no time to do anything he wanted to do, which was to do nothing. He didn't want to go to Holly's, she was my friend and he didn't know anybody there. Heck, I wouldn't know anybody else there besides Holly and Austin but I told him I only wanted to stay 15-20 minutes. Drop off Abbey's present and go home. But that wasn't good enough for him and I sat there thinking that he had a no win situation here for me and no matter what I said or did, I was still coming off as selfish and inconsiderate. In truth, I asked him to clean my bathroom and take me to the Zoo. I asked to stop by my friend's house for 15-20 minutes. The rest of the evening and the next day, Father's Day, was his. I wanted to go to church on Sunday. And he said he had no time to himself ever. Not during the week, not on his downtime during the weekend. So I told him to just go home, I would drive myself over to Holly's and then I would go to my parents house by myself after. I wanted to take my dad his father's day present.
He was still bitching and moaning when I dropped him off and made a sarcastic comment about holding dinner, what time was I going to be home? I told him I didn't know, and I left. By that point I was upset at him and wanted to get over to Holly's.
Holly's was a bbq and though I accepted some cake, I didn't eat the frosting, I took 2 hot dogs and two brats with me to go. I figured maybe hubby didn't have to cook then. Then I left and went to my parents' house. I had called them to see if they were home but didn't get an answer, but figured they were out working in the yard. I was right, as when I pulled up, dad was just getting his tools together to take in the garage. Mom had just gotten out of the shower and they were ready to sit down and visit. I gave dad his tshirt, it said Dad, The Man, The Myth, The Legend. I told him I was giving him something to wear for Father's Day. Dad really liked it.
I visited with them for about an hour, saw all the work they have done on the yards and left. I wanted to go someplace else and not go home for a couple of hours since I was still upset at hubby, but I went home anyway. He was just making a homemade pizza with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, spaghetti sauce and ham and pineapple on my half. Pepperoni on his half. Pepperoni is now too spicy for me to eat sometimes so I like the ham and pineapple. We sat down and ate, then went upstairs to watch the thrid Jurassic Park movie. He fell asleep pretty early and I stayed up until 3 reading.
Sunday, I woke up at 1030am, and he was already up. He was doing ok, determined not to go to church with me but he did make breakfast, fried eggs, bacon and toast, white bread. We ate and then it was 1130 and I still had to take a shower before church, so I didn't go today. We decided to relax for an hour, change into our new bathing suites and take the dogs out to the front driveway and give them a bath. With Baby's skin condition, she was really smelling pretty rank. So we brought the dogs out one by one, hosed them down and lathered them up. Rinse them off and let them shake out the water. Then we towel dried them and brought out the next one. Back into the house they went. Apparently that is the secret to keeping the dogs from wanting to come out the front door, because after that, they stayed away from the door.
After we were done with the dogs, hubby brought out the two person swing I bought off of Brad's Deals from KMart. I wanted to put it together and put it in the front yard. Now I knew this was going to be a scaled down version of the expensive swing my parents have but I figured it was good enough for us. I would be able to sit in it with hubby in the evening and I could sit in it during the day reading. So we put the swing together. It took a little bit of figuring out, but we got it together and it worked. We tested it out, sitting there swinging, me reading my book and him on his iPad. Until the biting flies bit him one too many times, then he went in. I was doing good, most bugs don't bit me anymore, including mosquitoes, so I was safe to stay out there until the sun hit a certain point and I lost my shade. Then I went inside. I hung out with the rats, hubby hung out in his office, each of us doing our own thing. He was getting his downtime.
Hubby made dinner but I was not hungry. we hadn't eaten lunch either but I just didn't feel like eating, so when he made dinner, he ate alone. Even now, the only thing I want is a green olive. Just one. I know this is not a good way to lose weight but the heat does this to me, making me not want to eat and food makes me queasy. So I'm just going to go with it. Maybe I will eat a pb&j later.
