Friday, July 31, 2015

Today was a resplendent day.  I woke up slowly with Dalyhlia sleeping next to my stomach and Baby sleeping behind me with her head on hubby's pillow.  She likes to jump up there to sleep when he gets out of bed.  I noticed my phone was gone and I wondered where it went.  So I got up and looked all around and couldn't find it.  I did find the charger cord stretched all the way out which was unusual, as when I disconnect the phone, I put it back in the corner between the nightstand and the bed.  If it's stretched out, I'm afraid that Baby or Cookie will chew the cord in two again.
I ate some yogurt and waited for hubby to call me so I could hear where the phone was, but then I thought that since I don't remember hubby leaving this morning, maybe I was sleepwalking again and took my phone off the charger and hid it.  I've done that in the past, not with the phone but with other things.  So I got dressed and went across the street to Janice's house and explained the situation.  Then I asked her to call me for 10 minutes while I went through the house and located the phone.
She did and it was in the bedroom, on the floor behind the fan.  I answered it and thanked her.  Then I realized that one of the dogs must have gotten caught in the cord and pulled the phone down and off the charger, that's why the cord was stretched out and the phone was on the floor.  Silly dog!
I was dressed but I stayed up in the bedroom watching tv and reading until hubby called and said he had left at 6 this morning and gotten to Denver early and was done now.  He was almost back to the Springs and did I want lunch since he was stopping at Culver's.  I got a Butterburger and a large pepsi.  Yum!  I was only able to eat half of it but that filled me up.  Then I talked to him about getting my nails done again, costing $25, $30 with tip and he thought that was a fine idea.  We really can't afford for me to do this extra bit but it does make me feel so good about myself and it lasts until they remove it.  Doesn't chip or wear ans I wasn't sure how they took it off.  As your nails grow out, it needs to be filled in.
I dropped hubby off at work and went to get my nails done.  What they do is take a dremel looking thing and shave the gel polish off mostly, then soak your nails in some chemical and then scrape the rest of it off.  Can't be really good for your nails but it sure looks great when they reapply it.
After I was done, I went over to Hancock Fabrics and got an iron on patch so I can fix the sheet the dogs ripped when they were digging on the mattress.  That's why we don't let them upstairs anymore until we are up there with them!   I also looked at the sale they were having on the dress form dummies.  They didn't have one in my size, I would have to go online to order one, but they are on sale for $100, which is a great price!  I'm considering it for my birthday instead of getting my bike fixed.  So I'm going to think about it.
On my way back to pick hubby up, I stopped at Rescued Hearts, the dog rescue supporting thrift shop that takes the money it makes from selling and turns them into $500 grants for dog rescue organizations.  I got a book and two shirts.
Then I drove back to the school and arrived just after hubby, being the boss, had balled out a work study for having his wife hanging around waiting for him.  Oops!  I was there 45 minutes before he was due to get off and had planned on just hanging out reading in the back corner, out of the way.
He got done and it was still early so we went to Costco and I got a piece of pizza and a berry smoothie.  Then we picked up dry dog food, dry cat food and a few other things.  $120!  Oh well, this is a monthly expense.  Then we went home.
Around 7pm, I started to cook dinner.  Earlier in the day I had told hubby what I was making and he pointed out that he hated boiled potatoes and started telling me how to cook tonight's dinner.  I wasn't happy.  He didn't like that I was going to use fresh potatoes and wanted me to get canned.  Later, he apologized and said he was tired.  I sliced the potatoes thin then fried them up until they were cooked, added thin sliced polish sausage and a can of green beans.  Hubby and Frank liked it so much they ate the whole thing.
A little bit later, when hubby went to take out the trash, he opened the front screen door and surprised the skunk who was on the porch eating the dried cat food.  Unfortunately I had moved the cat dishes to the side where the door opens so when the skunk got startled, it sprayed in the open door and got the screen door, the front door and hubby's leg.  Lucky for us, we know that Dawn dishwashing detergent will take off the oily skunk spray, from dogs, door and people.  So we got some and washed everything down, including hubby.  Then we put up a fan to get the smell out of the house and by now, everything is fine.
It has caused some tension with the dogs and Cookie and Kira got into a big fight.  Hubby got bit twice but it didn't break the skin.
Tomorrow, hubby has to go into work to finish up the book list and the reports for the inventory he did today in Denver and in the Springs.  We already made our Costco run so we will be able to relax and just go to church and the library on Sunday.

Thursday, July 30, 2015

Today was a researching day.  I woke up around 8.  It was nice and sunny out, but I wasn't ready to get up so I laid in bed and read.  I also watched hubby sleep.  It's nice to see him lying there so peaceful and happy.  Usually in the mornings he's not snoring, just starting to get restless because he has been prone for so long that his back is hurting and will wake him up soon.  Sometimes I will reach over and smooth his hair back on his head or lean over and kiss his arm.
He planned on going in about an hour early today so when he did get up, he got ready right away and left.  I fed the beasties and then went next door to see Janice.
Today we were going to the library to research her vintage and antique milk bottles and the dairies they came from here in the area.  But when we went to the library downtown and got to the historical section, we couldn't find any information about the old businesses or anything about the milk bottles.  We even looked at various bottle pricing guides, they just didn't have milk bottles in them.  Our dairies are probably too small to be anything of worth.
We next went to Taco Bell for lunch and Janice bought lunch for both of us.  I got a taco supreme and a large mexican apple soda.  Never tried it before but it was really good!
Then we went to Willowstone Antique Market, a place that has Gorman Auctions located in it and also has this big warehouse section where people rent booths to sell vintage, antique or handmade items.  There we found several milk bottles for sale so got some good ideas about pricing.  Then we went home.
Hubby was coming back from Denver so he stopped by to take a quick shower and change clothes.  We got to visit for a little bit and then he had to go back to work.  He was getting ready for the end of the month inventory.  Tomorrow he has to go do inventory up in Denver, then come down and do it here.  Well, the ladies will actually do the counting and he will run all the reports and do additional COGs when he gets back.  Because this will basically take two days, he is also going in on Saturday to work until he gets that and the book list done.
I made a roasted chicken and potatoes for dinner tonight but because I put water in the bottom of the pan and covered it in foil, hubby said I boiled the dinner and he didn't like it.  He ate some of it and was grumpy the whole dinner through.  Frank said he liked the chicken.  Tomorrow I will debone the chicken and gather the meat to make a chicken and rice dish for dinner tomorrow night.  Hubby keeps on stressing I need to make it more juicy, the last time I made it, it was too solid and dry.  He is annoying in the amount of times he has said this too me.

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

Today was a filling day.  Ha!  As in filling in my tooth!  Since it was Wednesday, hubby didn't have to go in until 1130am and my dental appointment wasn't until 1pm, so I slept in until about 1030.  I was having an uncomfortable dream about something but then the Devil appeared in my dream as a human and asked me for my soul.  I woke up right after that.  Talk about a direct message!  I tried to go back to sleep so I could tell him NO, in no uncertain terms but couldn't do it.  So I just thought it.  And told hubby.
That started a discussion about why a person would want to sell their soul.  He told me about an experiment that a guy in college tried.  He went to some busy city place and told people that if they signed a paper to agree to sell their soul to him right then, he would give them $10.  Out the 100s that he asked, only a handful of people did it.  Hubby, who at times claims to be an atheist, said he wouldn't sell his soul for one basic reason, you just never know.  Why trade your eternal soul for a finite tangible thing that you can only use for a number of years, when there is the possibility that you will go to a fiery, torturous place for all of eternity?  Good question.
So eventually we got ready and left to go to hubby's office.  I hung out there for about an hour reading, then left for my dentist appointment.  I got there early so read my book until it was time to go in.
I was getting a replacement filling.  I had one put in in 2011 but somewhere along the way, it fell out.  But it was no longer under warranty so I had to pay to have it put back in.  I had the hole in my tooth for a while now and it had a little bit of decay in it so they had to drill out the hole a little deeper, closer to the nerve.  The dentist told me that I have the filling in one side, a filling in the top and the start of a crack appearing in the other side, so I should start saving up for a crown in the next year or two.  Wonderful!  He also told me that since it was close to the nerve, the tooth might be sensitive to extreme temperatures.  Good thing I don't drink arctic cold drinks or eat piping hot food, huh?
When I was done, I drove back to hubby and picked him up.  Frank had just come over, getting done at work at 230pm and now and was coming to visit hubby.  We gave him a ride home and put the bike in the trunk.
We ate some lasagna for lunch then hubby went back to work.  I went and sat in the swing and read until it became overcast.  Then went inside to get on the computer and to let the rattie boys out to play and explore.  Frank went to bed about 8pm since he has to get up around 4am.  Hubby came home about 930pm.  I ate some cereal for dinner and he is cooking a spinach quiche and top ramen.  Then we are going upstairs to watch another episode of Major Crimes.
I realized something today.  I am feeling content and happy, something I have been feeling for a little while now.  I rarely have thoughts about how to commit suicide now, different ways to do it or if it would hurt.  I am happy with the animals we have and have no desire to add to them, thinking that we have enough for several years to come.
I still have plans to start walking again, going to try to do it tomorrow.  I have plans to work on putting away the boxes of material/cloth I have sitting in the craft room.  I want to do a project board to do some interior decorating in the house and figure out paint colors and designs for the rooms.  Things are going well and I am in a good place mentally.  Oh, we have lots of bills to pay but we do have the means to pay them, slowly we will get there.  But life is good.

Monday, July 27,2015

Today was a lax day.  Hubby stated last night he didn't want to go into work today, his back was hurting and he was tired.  So this morning he woke up and called in, taking a personal day.  Then we relax and watched some tv, The Price is Right, and I finished reading my book, 2030, then we got up around noon.  We fed the beasties and ate some lunch.
He was kind of bored and tired but didn't want to spend the day sleeping so we decided to go to the mall and walk.  It was fun!  We window shopped, pretended like we might buy a puppy from the pet place so we could play with him, and bought a pretzel to eat.  But we walked the whole mall and saw several stores that catered clothes to size 16, my size.  A little expensive, but nice to know they are there.  We found some great little stores that we hadn't seen since we had been there before several years ago.  It was nice and cool there and we had  good time.
We got home in time for hubby to rest a little before his MRI at 515pm.  He was having it on his neck to see if the nerves were pinched again since his arms go numb when he sleeps and the pain wakes him up if he sleeps more than 6 hours.  We also got a message from the physical therapy place to have him call and set up an appointment.
Frank came home around 7pm.  He got another job working through the temp agency every day and it is closer to the house.  He doesn't have to go to the temp agency first now, just to the job, which works out well for him.  They will pay him once a week instead of daily so he will have to adjust to that.  I will still keep track of the money he gives us so I will know how much for my food budget.
It was hot today, in the high 80s.  It's still hot tonight but with the fans on, it's tolerable with a cool drink.  Tomorrow I will have to take hubby to work then go to therapy.  Then I will need to exchange the car with hubby again so he can drive to Denver to work.  Tomorrow I have to redo the dinner menu as we are all mixed up on what to make when again.  Don't need to go shopping, just need to get it straight what I am fixing when.

Sunday, July 26, 2015

Today was a togetherness day.  Hubby and I woke up just minutes apart, around 11am.  We had slept in so late but had gotten up much earlier to let the dogs out and went back to bed.  I'm doing really well that I am not having to get up until early morning, sometime between 5am and 7am to pee.  For awhile there I was waking up around 2 or 3am and that was rough!  But now when I get up, I can let the dogs out and open the back door so they can come and go when they need to and I go back to sleep.
Hubby wanted to make a big breakfast, eggs, bacon and toast, but I told him I was going to church so I was just going to grab a yogurt.  He decided to go with me so he started getting ready.  We decided to have BLTs for lunch instead.
Church was good.  The message today was anything is possible with the Lord.  Nothing is impossible. Faith in this is important because God can create great change in your life.  We sang some songs, had communion, and left.
We went straight home afterwards.  Hubby and I talked about going to the library and me having to buy some blue yarn but since it was raining we decided to just stay home.  We checked on the tomatoes we planted, and they seemed to be doing well.  I put in the sticks to tie them to and tomorrow I will cut some fabric strips to do that.
We spent the day just lazing about, him in his office and in the kitchen and me in the craft room with the rattie boys.  We intersected often and kissed frequently.  We talked and rearranged the dinner menu.  Later, hubby made his famous spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.  Frank had been planning to continue working outside and clean up the yard but with the rain this morning, he decided to take a nap.  And when the rain stopped, he was still napping.  Oh well, everybody needs a day off.
Tomorrow at 5pm, hubby has an MRI appointment to check his neck for additional problems he is having with his neck and back.  I have no plans to leave the house, so will be here.  I have to sort through my clothes and get rid of old stuff I don't wear anymore since my closet is full and so is my dresser.  I got new underwear and socks so it's time to get rid of the old, holey stuff and socks without pairs.  I have a whole trunk full of clothes from 3 years ago I need to go through and get rid of or put in the dresser.  Since I don't get as cold as I used to, my "temperature" has risen since menopause, I don't need the turtleneck shirts anymore.  They will be nice to cut up into strips to crochet into a rug.

Saturday, July 25, 2015

Today was a balancing day.  Hubby and I woke up only minutes apart.  After he did his morning constitutional, we watched some episode of Whispering Pines, a tv show that we had watched on Hulu Plus but hadn't in awhile.  So I wanted to see it again and catch up as the last episode we watched something bizarre happened at the end.  During the next couple of episode, the twist come out about why these people were not allowed to leave the town and what really happened that explained why some people had been living there longer than others.  The adults in the town were kept in the dark about what was going on, they just knew that they were constantly being monitored and had chips installed in them to track their every movement.  The kids, on the other hand, were given orientation at school once they were ready that explained what was going on and what had happened to the rest of the world.  Hubby called it Orwellian and doesn't agree with the premise of the show but that's what I find fascinating about it and will continue to watch it on my own.
When I was done watching a couple of episodes, then I got a shower and we went outside.  We had notices a few weeks ago that we had trees growing in our gutters on top of the house, so today, hubby was climbing up and cleaning out the gutters.  Luckily it was only the front of the house that the gutters needed cleaning out but since we hadn't done it in the almost 4 years that we have lived here, there was all sorts of dirt and sticks and trees in it.  It took several hours and a lot of water from the hose to get it all flushed out.  Hubby's job was to go up on the roof and do the job, mine was to stay on the ground and watch him so he wouldn't fall.  And that's how it worked.  Hubby did have a back spasm in the middle of it but it stopped soon.  He never did come close to falling, thank goodness!
When he was done, we relaxed for a short time.  He cleaned up and hydrated then we drove to Walmart.  My tea hasn't been tasting good to me, even cold so I decided I needed to get some peach nectar to put in it.  So Walmart didn't have any peach, but I got 4 cans of apricot nectar and 4 cans of mango nectar.  That should make the tea taste better tomorrow.  We also picked up some more au gratin potatoes and scalloped potatoes for additional dinners.  And because I want to eat the dehydrated potatoes out of the boxes.  They had cup a soup for 28 cents each so we got 4 chicken and 4 beef.  They are good for hubby to have in his desk at work and I like them somethings for lunch or an early dinner.  We picked up two cans of fire roasted tomatoes for the spaghetti we were going to make tonight and also some tomato soup and american cheese for another dinner night.  Our shovel broke so we bought a new shovel too.  It all came to $55.
Afterwards, we drove over to Sonic to get Route 44 drinks, a cherry coke for me and an orange crush for hubby and a spur of the moment decision was to also get a chili dog for him and a banana split for me.  Shouldn't have done it since it was already 515pm, the bananan split turned into my dinner and when we got home, neither one of us was hungry.  Frank had been working hard outside all day also, so he was trying to cool off and wasn't hungry right away either.
I looked in the fridge and we had no space for any new leftovers so I went downstairs to the office and told hubby that we needed to just eat leftovers tonight as there was no room in the fridge for spaghetti leftovers.  We still had the spanish rice with beef and we still had some taco bake.  Well, when the guys got hungry, they combined the two things and made burritos out of them!  And really liked it!  So when I do the next menu, I will schedule those two things right next to each other.
The rattie boys got tomatoes, green beans and swiss cheese tonight.  When they get hungry later, I'm sure they will really like it.  I cleaned out their cage tonight and put in new towels and they were very happy.  They seem to like when I swap out the towels once a week.  They are happy when I change out the base too, but once a week when I exchange the towels, they spend some time running around and re-exploring the cage.  I'm glad I can make them happy as they make me really happy to see them cleaning and playing.  I love to watch them eat with their little hands!
Tonight hubby and I are going to watch a funny zombie movie and then a comedy.  Tomorrow we will go to church and maybe to the library.

Friday, July 24, 2015

Today was a stay home day.  Hubby wanted to leave to go work in Denver at 7 this morning and I didn't have any errands to run, so he got up early and went to leave.  At 715am, he woke me up to ask me where his glasses were, had I seen them.  I told him where I last put them and kissed him goodbye.  As I rolled over to go back to sleep, I heard him find them and leave.  I slept until 8am.
Then I laid there and read for a little bit but Baby jumped up on the bed into hubby's place and wanted some attention so I put my book down and pet her for a little while.  Then I went downstairs to get some yogurt for breakfast.  Though it was early, I knew Holly would be up so I texted her and she texted me back.  She asked me if there was anyway I could watch the kids for about an hour and a half between the time she had to leave for work and her husband came home.  I told her sure!  I'd love to.  Then i went back to bed for an hour.
I got up, got dressed and fed the beasties, then walked out to meet Holly.  I was watching the kids at her place so they would have stuff to do while they were gone.  I had lunch with Holly and the kids, homemade bread with pb&j.  Then Holly had to leave and I was prepared for Abbey to break down and cry the whole time like she used to but she was pretty casual about it.  I asked Abbey if she wanted to go outside so she gave Holly a kiss and a hug goodbye and we went outside to use sidewalk chalk.  We drew on the deck for a couple of minutes but being just turned two, she doesn't really get into drawing yet, so I did most of it and she would put a mark down occasionally.  Then I asked her is she wanted to go swinging.  She said yes, so she took my hand, walked down the deck and we went to the swing set.
Brother Chris had been busy using a hacksaw to saw a branch apart into pieces and doing very well but he decided to come swing with us.  While I was pushing Abbey and he was swinging, he told me about their wild rabbit that comes in their yard.  They named him Rusty because he has a reddish patch on his back but the rest of him is white.  They put out some carrots for him but he hadn't eaten them yet.  He showed me their sunflower that was growing and Abbey picked a couple of dandelions.  She seemed kind of bored so I asked her if she wanted to go in and watch a movie.  She did so all of us when inside upstairs to the bedroom and piled on the bed.  Chris asked Abbey what she wanted to watch and put it on.  He gave her a couple of choices and she answered with her version of the word.  Abbey may be two but her verbal skills just aren't there yet.
Austin came home shortly afterwards and we all went into the car to take me home.  They dropped me off and I spent the rest of the day playing with the rattie boys and on the computer.  While I was texting, my texts stopped going through so I tried calling out on my phone and it said the service was interrupted.  So I checked my new phone and my number transferred and my text messaging was working!  Yeah!  I checked my email and I had a message that everything was now with Republic Wireless.  That means our bill for both phones will only be $35 a month, saving us $65 a month.  I really like this new company and look forward to long and happy times together.
Hubby came home on his way to the office to punch out and wanted to change clothes real quick since he had been sitting in hot traffic for an hour and a half.  I elected to go with him to the office so we could be together and we ran that errand.  He approved the staffs' time and punched out.  Then we came home.
Since we had an hour before making dinner, he mowed the lawn to get it out of the way and then we made burgers, beans and fries.  He and Frank cleaned up the kitchen and now we are retiring upstairs.
The plans for the weekend are to hang out at the house and not spend money.

Thursday, July 23, 2015

Today was a deliberate day.  I had to get up at 845 to leave at 9 to get to the church 10 minutes later.  The Prayer Shawl Meeting starts at 9 but if I leave the house at 9, I'm there in 5-10 minutes and can usually make the opening prayer.  If not, then I read it myself before I start crocheting.
I took a can of Pepsi with me but wasn't really in the mood for it, so didn't really drink much of it and it went flat in the two hours that I was there.  When I first got there, I sat in the same seat I always sit in and started talking to the two ladies on either side of me.  I had to untangle my new skein of yarn first, so I could get is started on the shawl.  I had finished a small skein of yarn that was a sparkling orange and was going to use a skein of variegated orange, yellow, green and white as the two stripes of yarn between the 3 stripes of solid orange.  It will be a good fall shawl.  I just crochet a chain that goes the length of my arms stretched out and then use a double crochet for the rows.  It's simple and that's my style.  I have some patterns that I might try next time but this is soothing and easy, I don't have to think about what comes next and follow a pattern.
I left the meeting 10 minutes before it ended so that I could get home by 11am.  I was taking the car today and hubby and I needed to stop at Kum and Go for drinks and gas before I dropped him off for work.  He was ready when I got home, so I dropped off my crochet, picked up a book to read during lunch and we headed out.
We stopped for gas and I went in to get some tea.  Hubby came in right after me.  We paid for the drinks and headed out to the car.  He took the gas nozzle out of the tank and turned on the car.  It showed that we didn't get any gas but the pump said we spent $30.00.  I asked hubby "Didn't you pump the gas before you came in?"  and he said no, he had just swiped the card and put the nozzle in and thought he had turned it on and left it.  So he went inside and talked the the attendant.  She said that it didn't show a charge in the last couple of minutes so do it again and take our receipt with us.  When we could, check with our bank to see if we had been charged twice, showing someone else used our nozzle to get themselves gas.  So we filled up and drove to hubby's school.
When we got there, he checked on the computer for charges on our card and there was only the one.  Apparently something went wrong on the first try and the pump had reset itself.  Yeah!  That's the last time hubby will leave a gas pump filling on it's own!
When I dropped off hubby, I went across the street to a little French Bistro that I like to have lunch at and ordered my favorite sandwich, Le Vegetarian.  But when I started eating it, it just didn't taste very good today.  It's me, not the food.  So I only ate half of it.  Then I splurged and got the lemon cake for dessert.  I ate only the cake, not the frosting, too sweet.  With tip, the bill came to $23!   Not an experience I will be repeating anytime soon!
Then I went to Costco.  I was going to pick up beef base and chicken base, stuff I use to flavor soups and stews.  While I was there, I picked up some spices, powdered gravy and quinoa.  And a box of chips for lunches, the individual ones, a set of 55 bags.  Also keeps me from eating too many at one time!  I got out of there for $55.
My next stop was King Soopers for the big grocery shopping trip.  I had my list and I was diligent.  I picked up some extra cans of soup, an extra bag of shredded cheese that was on sale and a couple of items that I had forgotten to put down, like spaghetti noodles and an extra pound of ground beef.  There was some meat on sale in the manager's special section that I got for additional dinners in the future.  I kept track of the costs on my cell phone calculator funtion and estimated it was going to be $195 and so odd cents.  With tax it came in at $193 and some odd cents.  I know that I was off on estimating the cost of the fruit.  I had $173.00 in cash so only needed to put the rest on the debit card.  Today's shopping trip was not budgeted because I wasn't sure how much it would cost to feed 3 adults for 15 days.  It looks like it will be about $250 every 15 days or $500 a month.  Now I can budget for it.
I picked up hubby for his lunch time and to go home and have him carry in a ll the groceries and then he could have the car for the rest of the day.  We got home and he brought everything in, then he helped me put it all away.  Yeah!  Then we sat down and he ate some lunch, he took a quick shower to cool off and went back to work.
I spent the afternoon finding out my Virgin Mobile account number so that I could put in a transfer request for my phone number to be taken over to my new Republic Wireless phone.  Hubby actually found it and then I put in the request.  Later, I got an email saying it will be done sometime during a 24 hour period between the 25th and the 26th.  It can take up to 72 hours for text messaging to be restored.  That will be hard!  But it's done, so soon I will be all over to Republic Wireless.
Hubby was easy as he didn't want to transfer his number.  He never liked it and could remember it.  So when we got the new phones and he saw his new number, he like it and memorized it right away.  So all he had to do was cancel his old phone, which he did today.
For dinner I made spanish rice with beef.  I got a pound of stewing beef, cut into chunks and cooked that.  I made 6 cups of rice and combined that with the beef, added two cans of Rotel tomatoes with chilis and a large can of tomato sauce.  Then I added Italian spices.  It had a definite bite to it.  I ate it but it did make my mouth burn.  I knew that Frank and hubby would really like it.
Frank and I ate when it was ready but hubby wouldn't be home until 1015pm, as he was making up hours at work.  Tomorrow will be another long day for hubby.

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Today was a pissy day.  I woke up early and let the dogs out and opened the back door.  Then I went back to bed and read while hubby continued to sleep for a little bit.  But then he woke up too and we talked about going walking with the dogs.  He offered and this time I took him up on his offer.  We both got dressed after his morning constitutional and got leashes on the dogs.
I let him walk Baby since she pulls the hardest and told him he had to walk out in front.  Far enough in front that Cookie and Kira on the extended leash.  We did pretty well but he kept stopping to point out yards that he liked or features he saw that we had also in our yard and the dogs kept getting tangles.  Though I was getting pissy, I tried very hard to not let it show.  I must have done a good job because he was still friendly by the time we got back home.
Then it was time for him to get ready for work and he went off to do that.  I sat down at the craft table and let the rattie boys out to play while I got on the computer.  That is pretty much where I stayed until hubby came home for lunch.  By then I was tense and clenching my jaw.  I'm just having a physical reaction to nothing in particular but was getting ansy sitting home.  So when hubby suggested I take the car for the afternoon, at first I said no, then I changed my mind and drove him back to work.
I was going to go to Kum and Go and get a sweet tea and gas but instead I went straight to the $4 bookstore at Academy and Union.  I noticed yesterday when I went to Chuck E Cheese that they had shelves of books outside 4 for $1, so I wanted to look.
I found 2 twenty five cent books then went inside and looked at the craft books, but didn't see anything I was interested.  I asked the owner if they had a horror section and he showed me but asked what I was looking for.  I told him mostly I wanted books with zombies, I was in a mood.  He had 4 books about the undead and I took two of them.  He gave me the two 25 cent books for free since I purchased other books.  Score!
I didn't want to go home but wasn't sure where I wanted to go.  I thought about having a rootbeer float, then thought about going to Village Inn for pie ala mode, then thought about going to McDonald's for an ice cream cone and a soda.  That won out, was cheaper, and I could sit there and read as long as I wanted.  So I headed over.
I spent an hour there reading short stories about zombies, ate a little bit of an m&m McFlurry and drank a Coke.  At 7pm, I went home.
When I got home, our new phones from Republic Wireless were on the front stoop.  I took the box in and opened it.  There was no packing slip, just the phones, the cases, and the shock glass cover.  Such a small box for $410!  I put one of the phones together and turned it on, they came charged, and it went through a couple of questions then asked what wifi network and what the password was.  That was hubby's department so I turned the phone back off until I could pick him up and bring him home.
I got dinner ready, a whole chicken with cut up potatoes.  Spiced it all up with onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt and parsley.  Covered it with aluminum foil and put it in the oven at 375 for an hour and a half.  When it was done, I would nuke some green beans to go with it.  Then I left to pick hubby up.
When we got home, dinner was still cooking, it would take until 910pm and I went and finished making the dinner menu and the grocery list.  Then I went downstairs to talk to the guys to get their opinion on it, add stuff to the grocery list and then post it.  Hubby got the phones set up and found out how to transfer my phone number and we set all that up.  It will take a day or two for the transfer to take effect and I may not be able to text for a couple of days but I let Holly know so she will know I'm not ignoring her.
When dinner was ready, I fed the guys but was unable to eat cooked food myself so I had a peanut butter and peach jelly sandwich.  I didn't finish it but I did drink a glass of milk with it.  Yum!  Though I am still feeling tense, I am almost ready to go up to the bedroom and watch some tv with hubby.  We can even have a conversation or two.  I hope I feeling better tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

Today was a momentous day.  Mom and dad were picking me up at 1030am so I finally got out of bed at 10.  They are usually 15 minutes early so I got dressed quickly in my sleeveless blue floral print dress with my boots since I thought it might rain and I didn't want to wear sandals in the rain.  But mom and did didn't show up until 1030!  A first for them!  But I saw them pull up and went right out.
Their van was warm and they have windows that roll down on the sliding doors so I rolled it down but had to roll it up again when mom started talking to me.  I caught up with the happenings of the bulldog club members and the stuff going on to get ready for their show in Pueblo in November.  Then we got to the courthouse and drove around looking for the parking garage.  The one that dad remembered wasn't there anymore so I told him how to get to the regular garage.  It was several blocks away from the courthouse but where you park if you had court.  And we were there for my sister to adopt her son.
We got parked and walked down to the courthouse.  They moved the entrance to the far side of the building for the public so we walked all the way around.  I found out from Laura where we were supposed to go then looked up the room.  It was on the 3rd floor in Division V, room 301.  We were the first to arrive then dad remembered he left the camera in the car and had to go back.  Mom and I went on up and then I left her there and went down to the cafeteria do get a bottle of something to drink.  I ended up getting some grapefruit juice and some pink lemonade.
When I got back up to the courtroom, Laura had just arrived with all her kids.  Adopting Juan was going to make him her 11th child.  She had 5 biologicals and 5 adopteds, all through this court system.  She used to be married when she had all the children, Juan was to be the first she was adopting on her own.  He is 6 years old and has been with Laura for over a year full time and on and off for a couple of years.
When it was our turn, we went into the courtroom.  We all sat in the jury seating because the kids wanted to, and dad took lots of pictures of the proceedings.  The judge called Juan up to the bench and let him bang the gavel when the adoption was concluded.  Then we all went up onto the bench for pictures.
We left and met at Chuck E Cheese for lunch and for the kids to play.  We ordered pizza, salad bars and drinks.  Then we ate and the kids got their tokens and went to play.  The grown ups stayed at the table and talked.  After about 2 hours, the staff turned the music up so loud it was really hard to hear so mom and dad gave Juan the quilt that mom made as his adoption present and we left.
By the time we got home, my ears stopped ringing and I was enjoying the peace and quiet.  There was several hours before Frank would get home and moree hours after that before hubby would get home since he was in Denver for the afternoon and evening.
Hubby called me at 720pm to tell me that he was leaving Denver and would be home in about an hour so I got the pork chops ready to put in the oven.  It's been a while since I have cooked pork so I asked Frank and hubby how to cook them and they both had different times.  I put them in 30 minutes before hubby was due to be home.  When it was 15 minutes until he was due, I started the rice and spinach.  When hubby got home, I told him what Frank had said about cooking the pork and he told me that Frank didn't know what he was talking about so he jumped in and started spicing the pork and draining it, then started messing with the rice I was cooking, so I told him I was leaving it up to him to finish.  That way he could cook it the way he wanted to.  I was having soup for dinner because pork just doesn't taste good to me anymore.
He finished cooking and then I made my soup and we all sat down to eat at the same time.  We talked about our day, Frank gave me another $30 and I added it to his total.  So far he has given us $235.
Frank cleaned up after dinner and I can to write more on my letter to my nephew in prison.  Catch him up on my day.  Now hubby and I are going upstairs to see about watching a movie.
Tomorrow I will be making the dining menu for the rest of the month and the grocery list.  I will be using the money that Frank gave us for the grocery budget.  The rest of it will go in the bank.

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Today was a thankful day.  We didn't have church until noon so when I woke up around 930am, I let hubby sleep in until he woke up around 1045.  I just laid in bed and read.  I guess he had gotten up earlier and opened the back door for the dogs since they were still passed out when I woke up.  I find it very relaxing to wake up and just stay in bed and read.
When hubby woke up, we talked about the day ahead.  We were going to church and then taking my parents out to lunch at Yakatori's.  Well, on our way to church, we stopped by Yakatori's and found out that they are closed on Sundays, so we decided to take them to Cracker Barrel instead.  Good food for good prices.  And my dad said that my Aunt Coleen was a waitress for them for 25 years in Missouri.
Father Paul was back in church and he gave a very rousting sermon!  It was very moving.  They also did a baptism at the beginning of services.  The little girl was newborn and had this thick hair.  Reminded me of when I had Cassie baptized.
I wanted to go pick up my parents and take them up to Cracker Barrel but hubby didn't want to since we don't have a working air conditioner in the car.  So I called them when we were done with church and we met them there.  Hubby and I sat in the rocking chairs in front of the store waiting.  They are quite comfortable!
We were after the church crowd so got a seat right away.  It has been quite a while since mom and dad had been to Cracker Barrel so it took them a little while to go through all the menus, but eventually we all got ordered.  We placed the mind teaser game they have on the table and both hubby and dad got only 2 left.  Both mom and I got 3.  We had a good conversation.
When we were done, we walked through the store, hubby buying some candy that he always gets when he goes there.  I found birthday cards for the girls since yesterday was the twin's 33rd birthdays and today was Tara's 14th birthday.  We will mail out everything tomorrow.  I got make up brushes, a watch and a flute for Tara.  We are sending the girls $20 each.
We said goodbye to my parents and went to Walmart.  There we bought hubby two new pairs of pants, 3 button down shirts, a tie, and socks.  I got new socks and underwear.  $138.
We went over to hubby's pot shop and he picked up some pot for the pay period.  He has an allowance of $40 every pay period for that and he knows how to make the pot last.
We got home just in time to see Frank order dinner.  Pizza was on him tonight!  That was nice.  He had also vacuumed the house and cleaned all three bathrooms!  Yeah!
Hubby and I have been researching new ways to save money so that we have a bigger income for debt repayment so today, I showed him Republic Wireless as a cell phone company.  It is a company that has android phones that are only $99, $129 or $299.  The plans start at $5 a month.  The premise is you use wifi whenever you can, like at home and at work.  Then when there is no wifi, it will automatically switch over to cellular.  The plan we chose for each of us is unlimited talk, text, data on wifi with unlimited talk and text, and 0.5 gig data on cellular.  Since I only use data if I am lost or need a coupon, that should be enough.  And any data that you don't use, gets you a refund.  The plan we chose will cost us $17.50 each a month.  Compare that to $60 each a month, we are saving $65 a month!  And we can keep our old telephone numbers.
So hubby and I decided to buy the phones and switch to this new company.  We looked them up on Wikipedia and read up on them and I had been following a budget website blog that has been using them for a year with no problems.  With cases and screen protectors, paying for the service a month in advance, it came to $410.12.  That is with 2 day shipping.  It was only $2 more for 2 day shipping over the base of 3 day shipping, so I got the extra day early.
The phones are android phone and 3G-4G capable.  They do have cameras and 8 gig memories.  There is a 30 day return policy if we don't like them and we can keep our old phone numbers.  Hubby wants a new number, I like mine and we use my number as a house phone.  I figured out that in 6 months, these phones will pay for themselves in the money we will be saving.
Tomorrow I will be home all day.  I plan on getting up and walking Cookie and Kira first, then walking Baby.  With Frank working at the Temp Agency, he leaves at 5am to get to work so he can't help me, I'm on my own.

Saturday, July 18, 2015

Today was a reading day.  Hubby had to get up at 530am so that he could leave and drive to Denver at 6.  Today was the last day of the Denver Symposium and he was working up there until the early afternoon.  I woke up and kissed him goodbye, then rolled over and went back to sleep until about 10.  Then I got up, ate some yogurt and started reading the book Holding the Undead.  Interesting.  It was published in 2005 and then translated from Swedish into English in 2009.  Hubby had bought it the other day and was reading the other book he bought, so I started reading this one.  It had a different view on the undead.  They weren't Zombies that had come back to life all over the world to consume the flesh of the living.  The story paralleled several families that only had the "reliving" in common.  I finished the book today and it didn't end like I thought it was going to and yet it did.
I eventually got up and got dressed in my new summer clothes and was very happy to see the size 16 shorts I bought were loose, showing I had lost weight.  Then I went downstairs and fed the dogs, the rattie boys, the birds and the fish.  I was sitting down at the computer when hubby called.  He was stuck in traffic in Castle Rock and would call when he got to the school.  I was to take Frank and meet him at the school so we could help unload the truck.  We were going to turn the truck in today.
About 45 minutes later, hubby called, he was getting off at the highway exit for the school and I told him we were on our way.  I grabbed Frank, who was cleaning the downstairs bathroom, and we left.  When we arrived at the school, Frank helped hubby unload the truck and then we drove over to put gas in it and I met them at UHaul.
We were hungry so we went to Taco Bell and I got the same thing I had a couple of days ago, a bean burrito, a cheese quesadilla and a small Pepsi.  Hubby and Frank each got food and we sat down to eat.  It was pleasant conversation and happy tummies all around.
Then we went home and hubby and I went upstairs.  I kept reading my book until I was finished while hubby took a nap for a couple of hours.  It was nice to watch him sleep.  He looks so peaceful and relaxed.
When he woke up it was time to feed the beasties again.  I measured out the dog food and fed the rats.  He fed the cats.  Then we each ate our leftovers from Yakatori's and he went to his office to smoke a little and visit with Frank, and I went into my craft room to commune with the rattie boys, give them some free range time out of the cage on the craft room table and get on the computer.
We put more dried cat food out on the stoop for the stray cat, along with a bowl of water, and hoped that later the skunk in the neighborhood would also come back so we can watch it.  There is a mama skunk with 7 babies in the neighborhood that has been seen going into our backyard.  The skunk we saw last night was a young one but not that young.  It was on it's own and eating the food.  We watched it for a few minutes until the dogs came along , smelled the animal and started barking and scared it off.  We closed the front windows just in case it sprayed the area.
Tomorrow we will be going to Church and then, when it is over, calling my parents to tell them we are on our way over.  We are going to pick them up and take them out to lunch.  I would like to go back to Yakatoi's but we will see if hubby wants to go someplace else.

Friday, July 17, 2015

Today was an awesome day!  Hubby was off today and even though we have been married for 12 years and known each other for almost 20, we still love every chance we get to spend time together.  So we were looking forward to spending the day together.  We slept in until about 930am then both woke up without the alarm.  While hubby got up and did his routine, I stayed in bed, watched The Price is Right and ate yogurt.  Hubby's breakfast of choice was leftover meatloaf.  He really liked how I cooked it this time.
We had looked up the movie times for Ant Man and it was playing down south at Tinseltown at noon, so at 11, we were dressed and headed out.  We didn't know what to expect since today was opening day but there wasn't a crowd.  We took our popcorn bucket with our free refill tag and our refillable cup.  When they refilled the popcorn, they didn't take off the tag so we get a 2nd free refill, yeah!
The movie was really good, lots of action and touching moments.  There was humor in it too.  There was lots of ants, too.  We even get attached to an Ant that Paul Rudd names Anthony or Antony, a winged ant that he flys on.  It was heartbreaking when he died violently.  Ant Man's daughter is named Cassie, too so there was an instant connection there.  Hubby is a long time comic book collector and worker in the industry and said that this movie really played close to the comic.  He had told me about the Ant Man story on the way to the movie.
When we had gone into the movie, it was sunny and rather warm.  When we came out of the movie, it was overcast and cooler.  It was a nice change of pace and one we have gotten used to over the course of this summer.  During our drive back, we talked about going to lunch but neither one of us was hungry right then so we decided to go get my hair cut.  I had let the top grow and it was becoming unmanageable with having to drive with the windows down so I wanted to cut it very short again.  Hubby dropped me off at Great Clips and went home to use the bathroom and drop off the popcorn and refillable cup.
I ended up waiting for about half an hour to get my hair cut.  Hubby showed up just before they called me and suggested I get my hair washed since it was a little dirty and looked like it.  It was really nice to get the head massage when they were doing the conditioner.  There is something really nice about getting your hair washed by someone else.  Definitely worth the $4 Great Clips charges to do it.
It took another hour to cut my hair.  The stylist took her time to make sure she got it just right and I really appreciated it.  Though it was a little shorter than I originally anticipated, I really like everything she did.  And she made a couple of good calls on places where it looked a little funny, like stuck out a little, and got it just right.  And they must have been having a sale on haircuts cause it only came to $13 with the shampoo so I gave her a $7 tip.  I really liked the job she had done and she was a nice person.  I wanted to let her know I appreciated her.
By this time though, hubby and I were hungry so we decided to try out the little neighborhood restaurant, Yakatori's.  A family owned restaurant that we found out was over 30 years old.  They had been in this location for over 20 year and hubby said he had been there about 20 years ago.  When we arrive at 330, it was early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd and we had the place to ourselves.  We chose a booth in the middle of the restaurant wall where we had a good view of the place to sit and look at the decorations.   There was a wall mural painted on the wall behind us, lots of pictures of the a famous hero and lots of statures here and there.  Once we sat down the lady brought us soup right off the bat.  How can you not like a place that brings you soup right away before you order anything?
She brought us menus and then I ordered the Teriyaki Beef and hubby got the Yakatori Chicken.  Both come with white rice.  We got a cabbage salad next then the two appetizers we ordered arrived.  I can't remember the names of of them but one was a type of wonton wrapper spring roll with a sweet dipping sauce and the other was chunks of fried beef with a mustard dipping sauce.  The lady was trying to eat her dinner so we helped ourselves to drinks and it was a relaxed fun meal.  We are going to take my parents to a late lunch there on Sunday, I have decided.  Since the portions were really big, we had plenty of leftovers to take home.
When we came out, I saw that the dog rescue thrift store had a bunch of stuff outside the store and we went over.  I found 3 shirts, a pair of jean shorts and a long skirt in my size.  Hubby found a couple of books and we decided to get a coffee table book from a famous museum too.  I found a coffee cup that says Good Morning, Let the Whining Begin!  All sales go to help the organization make $500 grants to different dog rescue organizations.
After that, we headed home with the thought that that was the first and last time we would spend money just to spend money.  We have a few more things we need to get but those were luxury purchase.  Thought I really did need the clothes.
When we got home, I moved a couple of plastic chairs from the backyard into the front yard and brought out the tv tray to set drinks on.  Then hubby and I sat there reading and talking for awhile.  When the ice cream truck came down the street, we stopped him and bought a couple of treats.  You should always support your local ice cream man!  I could only eat half my treat so hubby put it in a plastic bag in the freezer for me for later.
We took care of the beasties and let the rattie boys have some free range time.  Then I wrote to my cousin for a little while.  Since hubby has to leave at 6am and that means getting up at 530, we are retiring early.

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Today was a me day.  Woke up around 8am.  Hubby was already up but came back in the bedroom to ask me if I wanted to walk the dogs but I told him no.  I thought he was just asking to make me feel better and didn't really want to, so I didn't want to force him.  But when I asked him about it later, he said no, he really would have walked with me, so I told him next time would be great.
So I started reading and ate a cup of yogurt, took my morning pills.  Hubby eventually got ready adn left for work at 1030am.  Before he did that, he came upstairs and told me that my copy of Beauty and the Beast, my special Disney VHS tape, in perfect condition, just sold for $500.00.  I asked him how much my copy was worth.  He said the tape is in perfect condition but the box is a little marked so it probably was only worth about $250.  Sell it! was my response.  So he went downstairs to do that.  But there was a problem with his eBay account to he spent his time before getting ready for work fixing that.  Then he ran out of time to do it will will have to do it after he came home tonight or tomorrow when he is off.
I stayed in bed and read until 1130am.  Then I got up and got dressed and went to Village Inn.  I ate a Belgium Waffle with strawberries and drank a coke.  I stayed there drinking coke until I finished my book a little while later.
I drove over to the Salon and got a gel manicure and a deluxe pedicure.  I was just going to get a regular manicure but they said the gel manicure is guaranteed not to chip for two weeks so I decided to give it a try.  You can't take the gel polish off with regular nail polish remover so you have to go back in to change it.  But I decided to give it a try.  They use special polish that you dry each layer under a ultraviolet light.  I got a yolky egg yellow base color with a gold glitter top coat.  Then they put on a base and a top coat.  It's dry right away.
I got a deluxe pedicure.  The guy did a really long massage with the salt scrub and lotion.  So nice!  I also enjoy the hot parafin wax for the feet.  My legs and feet are so soft and moisturized now!  I got a dusty yellow color for my toes.
When I was done I walked over to Hancock Fabrics and bought 3 yards of a pretty fabric that was marked down to $2.80 a yard.  I also found two packs of special bobbins for my Brother sewing machine.  If you don't use their bobbins, the machine will tangle the thread.  I also got some thread to use with the fabric.
My next stop was Kum and Go.  Even though we have new tires and don't need to get air anymore, I wanted a cold glass of tea and their tea isn't bitter.  They were out of sweetened tea so I got the last of their unsweetened tea and a little raspberry tea.  When I got to the register, I told them they were now out of both teas and they thanked me and told me that my tea was free.  Is it any wonder that I love this store?
I headed to Walmart.  I needed to get 20 cans of cat food, 16 cans of dog food, fish filters, two different kinds of bird seed for the cockatiels, cereal, corn tortillas, salsa, and a couple of other things.  All in all, Frank was able to carry all the bags in the house at once and it cost me $98.  Wow!
Then it was 5pm and I was hungry, so I stopped at Taco Bell.  I ate a bean burrito with extra onion, a cheese quesadilla, an apple empanada and a Pepsi.  I started reading my new book, 2030.  It's about America in the not too distant future.  They have found a cure to most cancers so people are living longer.  There is a glut of seniors.  There is a youth movement that resents seniors and the burden they put on the youth to support them.  They inherited the huge national debt, the lacking resources and more.  I got through the first chapter and it is interesting.  I'm looking forward to seeing this alternate reality.
When I got home, I made the meatloaf for the boys.  I used two pounds of hamburger, 5 eggs, ketchup, mustard, worchester sauce, heaping tablespoon of minced garlic, parsley, mince onions, onion powder, salt, pepper, oregano, and shredded oatmeal bread.  I baked it at 360 for one hour after putting it in a 9x13 pan in a ring with the center open.  Cooks faster that way.
I was going to make mashed potatoes from scratch but since I was out all day, I picked up instant from Walmart and make those.  Then I made a tomato sauce from two cans of tomato soup with spices in it.  I cooked the sauce separately in a pan to let the guys ladle it over their food themselves.  That way they could use the meatloaf to make sandwiches and not have the sauce slopping on the bread.  Both of them really liked it.  Frank even said he normally doesn't like meatloaf very much but like this a lot and would definitely use it to make sandwiches.  Score!
Hubby didn't get home until 930 so I sat with him while he ate and then we retired upstairs.

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Today was a road worthy day.  It all started at 8 this morning.  I woke up and let the dogs out but couldn't get back to sleep.  So I read until the alarm went off at 9.  Hubby was going to get up and help me walk the dogs this morning but when the alarm went off, he said that he had been up a couple of times at night and at 7 with his stomach and was going back to sleep.  I didn't think I was up to walking dogs twice so I just got dressed and went walking on the treadmill.
I went downstairs into the family room and turned on the tv to the last episode of Lie To Me on Netflix and started walking at a brisk pace for 20 minutes.  I should have pushed myself to do longer but I figured that was good enough for just getting back to doing it.  But I felt guilty about not taking the dogs on walks they really love going on so tomorrow I will take out Cookie and Kira first, then take out Baby.  I will walk them the short way around the block to get into the grove of things.  The worse part is getting the motivation for it.  When Rose was coming, I had accountability for it.  I can't count on anyone else helping me now.
So after I finished that, hubby got up and got ready for work.  Today I was taking him in to pick up a truck at UHaul so he could go to Doctorate in Denver on Thursday and Saturday.  He will be off on Friday.  Yeah!  So we went by Kum and Go to put air in the back tire for the last time and to get some drinks.  They were still having their $1 sale on any sized drinks, yeah!  Hubby got one too.
Then we went to UHaul and I waited while hubby went in to get his truck.  Last time I just dropped him off and there was a problem with the work credit card and he ended up waiting there for an hour then having to have one of the ladies from the school come pick him up.  So this time I waited until he got the truck.
Once he did, I kissed him goodbye and drove over to Discount Tires, where we had an appointment at 1230pm.  I was about 45 minutes early but I had brought a book and was willing to wait.  When I checked in, they told me that my tires were there and I wouldn't have to wait very long.  I got the tires, mounting and balancing and bought a rim to mount one of the back tires on it as a spare, since we didn't have one.  I got the warranty on the tires so if they can't fix the flat, they would replace the tire at no cost to us.  It seemed like a worthy investment at $7 additional per tire.  All together the cost came to $369.21.
It was good to have safe tires on the Saturn again.  You could really feel the difference when you drove.  And the car didn't shimmy at 50 miles per hour anymore!  So since it was lunch time, I called hubby and asked him if he wanted a sandwich from Arby's.  I got two french dips and an orange cream shake without the whipped cream and went back to his school.  He took a few minutes to eat with me and then I left him to sit in the parking lot to read for awhile, not in a hurry to get back home.  It was a nice day and though it was warm, I was parked in the shade and I was comfortable, so I stayed.
When I reached a good stopping point in my book, I drove home.  When I stopped in the driveway, my neighbor called me and asked me to come over.  Then she told me that she saw Rose and her family come home for about 10 minutes and Rose came over and rang my doorbell.  I told her I wasn't home and Rose didn't leave a note, so I didn't know what she wanted.  Janice and I visited for awhile and she showed me all the antique milk bottles and 7UP bottles that she had gotten from her parents.  They recently sold their property and were downsizing, packing and distributing all their stuff and collections.  She asked for my help in cleaning all of them later this week.
I went home to let the rattie boys come out and play but they were sleeping so I watched more women in prison shows on YouTube.  Some of these shows had women from great backgrounds that made bad choices and ended up doing crimes.  One was a prescription drug addict and she found out her doctor's special number needed to call in prescriptions and started doing that.  She lost her marriage, her children and her freedom.  Sad.  Some of the other women were young, adults but young in their 20s, who got involved with men that were of a criminal element.  They lost their good judgement just to feel accepted and paid the price for it.
Hubby came home during his lunch break and dropped off the UHaul truck and took the Saturn back to work.  His tummy was still upset so instead of making the meatloaf I had scheduled for tonight, I told him we would just have the leftover Beef Stroganoff if he was hungry when he got home and I would make meatloaf and mashed potatoes tomorrow.  My tummy was a little wonky today too and I didn't feel like dinner either.  Told Frank when he came home to just eat leftovers whenever he got hungry.  He said ok.
Tomorrow I will have the car all day.  I am going to go to the library and drop off the Dave Ramsey book and then to the church and drop off the other Dave Ramsey book I checked out from there too.  Today I bought my own copy of the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover book and it will be delivered on Saturday.

Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Today was a bustling day.  As normal on Tuesdays, I had a therapy appointment at 10 so I had to drive hubby into work at 830am.  We stopped at Kum and Go for air for our back tire and a breakfast sandwich for hubby.  I had been good and gotten a yogurt at home and eaten that.  I got a drink but they were out of teas so I got Squirt instead.  I wasn't really in the mood for soda but it was better than nothing.
So I drop hubby off at 9am, then I figured I had enough time to drop by Judithmary's and return the dress that she lent me to wear on Saturday.  She had sent me a message on Sunday that she needed it back right away since I wasn't coming to the bbq at her house on Sunday, when could I get it back?  So I told her I would drop it off today.  When I arrived at her house, Karen and her friend were just leaving and Karen told me that she was dropping out of our group.  It was time for her to move on.  I know she has been very busy with her parents and her grandchildren so I told her I understood.  She told me to call her sometime for lunch but I probably wouldn't as we aren't that close and I don't know her that well.
I rang Judithmary's doorbell and when she opened it she answered the phone so she didn't talk to me.  She just opened the screen door and put her hand out for the dress.  So I handed it to her and left.  She may be a little mad because I didn't come to the bbq on Sunday.  I don't know but I will call her later in the week to say hi.
I went to therapy and talked to Steve.  Told him the good news that I have been able to be on the computer doing email or facebook without having to have the tv on for background noise.  There isn't stuff going on in my head that I need to counteract in order to concentrate.  And it's been this way for a couple of weeks now.  He said that is good and congratulated me on that.  Then I tell him I have been watching this series about women in prison and got really involved about this Women on Death Row series on YouTube.  It was fascinating, the mentality, the similarities of the women and the differences from myself.  A whole culture that is going on that is not of my world.  One thing I noticed that almost all the women have been physically or sexually abuse and none of them received help for it.  They formed addictions that continued until they got into prison.  Their maturity levels seemed to have stopped in their teens or childhood.  And the ones that didn't do anything to better themselves, make an actual effort, in prison or outside, ended right back in prison.  A lot of the women who committed the crimes would change their stories in prison so that they now blamed most of the crime on another person and didn't deserve to be put away for life or to be on death row.
Steve told me to be careful of what I was watching because that lets in a certain way of thinking and fiction can become our reality.  Now I am interested in exploring this topic but I have checked in with myself and know that I could do prison, if I had to.  But I can't ever seeing myself intentionally committing a crime that would get me put in prison.  I'm too white bread, plain and fluffy.  I told him it's just a current interest and a thread I am following on YouTube.  I like prison shows and they make me feel like I can take a peek into what my nephew is going through.  The one I write to.
After I was done with therapy, I headed down to the DMV to get a duplicate title to my car as Farmer's needs that in order to release the money they are paying us to total the car.  It took 2 hours for them to help the 12 people ahead of me in my catagory, but I finally got up to the counter and got my title.  Then I got my form for hubby for his handicap placard and the form for hubby to sign saying he is giving me authority to get a new title to the car after I put it in both our names and out of my ex-huband's name.  That will only cost me $7.20 to do, so I will do that next week.
When I was out of the DMV, I drove over to hubby's school and we faxed the title over to Farmer's.  I called Rod and he told me he got the fax and the money would be in the account in 24-48 hours.  Yeah!  Then hubby signed out and we went to lunch.
Now we have been very tight on money and I have been watching every penny so we could go get some new tires for the car and pay off the payday loans, but hubby had gotten in some "found" money and wanted to go out for a really nice lunch, so we went to Texas TBone, a steak house. They have an express lunch where you go in, order, get your glass, get your own drink and sit down.  About 6 minutes later, they bring out your food.  We both got New York Strips and I got a baked potato and he got fries.  We both ordered the meat rare, because we like it bloody but their rare was a little too rare for us so we only ate half the steaks and brought the rest home for later.
Hubby dropped me off at home and went back to work.  He called me at 4, saying he was running a quick errand for work but wanted to go to Hooked on Books for a particular book he has been looking for and did I want to come.  So I said yes, and about an hour later, he picked me up and we went to the bookstore.
He found the book he has been looking for for the past couple of months and I found a couple of books.  We left, got copies of the house keys made for Frank and went home.  Now we are going to watch Maggie, a zombie movie with Arnie in it.
Tomorrow I have an appointment to get tires put on the car and drop hubby off to pick up his truck for the Denver Doctorate Symposium he is hosting on Thursday and Saturday.  He does have Friday off, so Yeah!

Monday, July 13, 2015

Today was an introspective day.  I woke up wondering if today was the day that my next door teenage neighbor, Rose, was going to come back and show up on my door step at 9am to help me walk the dogs or if they really did move away.  They moved away because no Rose at 9.  I thought about getting up and walking the two dogs first then walking the big one after but it was too hard to think about and I wasn't sure I could walk that much so I tried to go back to sleep.  But I couldn't, so I started to read.  I decided I would take it easy and stay up in the bedroom and finish my book today.  It was an easy story and I knew it would only take me a couple of hours.  Hubby was still sleeping as he didn't have to get up until 10 since he wasn't going into work until 11.
I spent the morning reading and watching The Price is Right.  It was fun.  Then I went downstairs and fed all the animals after I got dressed.  It was a warm day and I was going to walk on the treadmill but it was too warm and I knew if I was going to do that, I would have to do it around 9 in the morning.
I spent the rest of the afternoon finishing Cassie's cowl scarf for her mother-in-law, Becky.  It was a little narrower than I would have liked but I ran out of yarn and it will loosen up once it is washed.  I will have hubby take a picture of me in it tonight and then have him send it out to Cassie in the morning.
When I was done with that, I started watching the series of Life on Death Row that I have been following on YouTube about Women on Death Row.  I have been watching the episodes for a couple of days now and it is pretty interesting.  There are a couple of women that still cry and say they are innocent and don't deserve to be in prison, let alone on death row but most are accepting.  They interviewed a lot of women that were granted new trials and got their sentences commuted to life in prison.  A few have come up for parole but haven't been granted that.  A lot have been given life without the possibility of parole.  One woman in particular says that she did do the crime but the people she took with her to kill this girl should get an equal sentencing and she didn't deserve to die for it.  The other people sentenced got life without parole so why should she be the one that dies?  It was interesting the way these women seemed to have stopped aging mentally past the age they went in prison at.
I was going to make Cheeseburger Rolls for dinner tonight using the canned biscuits I bought at the store last week but when we got up this morning, two of the cans had popped open and spewed their dough all over the fridge!  That meant there wasn't enough biscuits to make enough rolls, so hubby asked if we couldn't just make hamburgers for dinner tonight.  I told him sure, he would just need to stop at the store and pick up hamburger buns on the way home.  So he did.
I was sitting at the craft table watching the computer when the rattie boys woke up and came out of their cage.  Dylan came over behind the computer and found my bowl of cherries and pits I had discarded.  He looked around, reached in, and took one of the pits in his mouth and ran back to the cage as fast as he could go.  He stashed the pit and came back and did it again.  I watched him do this a few more times then saw him discover one of the whole cherries in the bowl.  Boy howdy!  Did he get excited!  He opened his mouth up as wide as it would go and got one in his mouth, then carefully walked back to the cage.  Then he came and got the other two cherries that were left in the bowl.  He didn't leave the cage after that, too busy eating cherries!
When hubby and Frank got home, hubby cooked the hamburgers and fries, then we ate.  We watched teacup pig videos while we ate.  So funny!   Saw them on YouTube.  So much entertainment!  Someday I would like to get a mini-pig but that will have to wait until one of the dogs dies off.
I got a call from Farmer's about fixing my car this afternoon and they told me that the amount to fix my car, approximately $1200, exceeds the value of the car so they were offering to pay us $1005.93 and we could buy the car back for $1, so they would give us $1004.93.  I got his name and number and told him I would call him right back then called hubby.  It was more than we expected them to pay us so though we weren't happy that the car wasn't going to get fixed, we were happy with the amount they were offering.  So I called Rod back and told him we would accept the offer.  The money will allow us to get 4 new tires for the car and get it aligned.  We will live with the cosmetic damage.  Then we will buy hubby two new pairs of pants and save the rest of the money as part of an emergency fund.  Maybe.  Maybe we will pay off some of the payday loans we owe.  I don't know, we need to talk about it.
Tomorrow I have therapy in the morning and then I have to drive over to Judithmary's and take back her dress that I wore to the Red Hat Social on Saturday.  Then I will be going down to the DMV and getting another copy of the title to the car to fax over to Farmer's so they will release the check.

Saturday, July 11, 2015

Today was a Red Hat day.  I had a big Red Hat event to go to today and was suppose to be there at 930, so I had hubby set the alarm for 8am.  8am comes and I'm too tired to get up so I tell him, give me 15 more minutes.  So at 815am, I wake up but not quite ready to get out of bed yet, so I roll over and spoon hubby for 10 minutes.  Nice!  Then he rolls over and spoons me for 5 minutes before I absolutely just have to get up.
I get dressed in the outfit that Judithmary lent me to wear, a long floral dress with a sash.  There is also a red floral head piece to wear with it.  I get dressed and ask hubby how I look.  He is trying hard not to laugh, asking me if I am going to a costume party or something.  I tell him that Judithmary asked me to wear this because she wanted all of us dressed a certain way.  The dress is a little frilly and definitely not my style, but I paired it with my sandals and left.  The first stop was to Kum and Go for their free air, which has become a daily event since the tire is losing air every day.  Next payday we are hoping to be able to buy 4 new tires for the car.
I arrived at the hotel the Red Hat event was being hosted at and checked in.  I got handed my envelope with my souvenir button, my menu choice ticket and my table number.  Then I walked around the convention area looking at all the wares the vendors were offering to all of us Red Hatters.  There was rhinestone jewelry out the ying yang, red hats, headband hats, gloves, stockings, clothes, purses, and doo-dads.  I looked at a few prices and all of it seemed pretty reasonable.  Being as we are trying to buy tires and pay taxes, I was good and didn't buy anything.  I take that back, I didn't buy anything from the vendors but I did splurge and buy a Chai Latte from Starbucks in the hotel.
I went into the Starbucks and ordered a Chai Latte.  I waited for it to be made, thanked them and left to sit out in the lobby, watching the ladies come and go.  When I could take a sip of my drink, it tasted funny.  So I let it cool down and took another sip.  It tasted like coffee, so I took it back.  I waited my turn in line and then handed my cup to the cashier.  "I ordered a Chai Latte.  This is coffee."  "That's because it has a shot of espresso in it."  "I ordered Chai Latte.  Steamed milk and tea, no espresso."  "When you ordered the latte, that is the espresso."  "I can't drink coffee, that's why I ordered the tea."  Dead silence.  She stared at me for a moment, turned around and talked to the lady making the drinks and got a new cup.  Then she went back to the register, leaving me standing there waiting.  I assumed that they were making me another drink but I wasn't sure.
They did make me another drink, this time without the espresso.  Now I have had Chai Lattes at Starbucks before.  I order a Chai Latte and that is what I get, tea with steamed milk.  Never before have they added coffee to my tea.  And never before have I been treated like that.  So Monday I am going to call a few other Starbucks and ask them how they make their Chai Lattes and then call the manager of that Starbucks and let her know what happened.
Judithmary told me that I should arrive at the event at 930am.  I arrived at the event at 930am but that hour before they open the doors to the dining hall is so you can shop and I had to find a seat and people watch until it was time to go in.  At least I will know what to expect for next year.
When 1030 came around, I got in line to go into the dining hall.  The event coordinators handed me a flower necklace, a lay, and I went and found my table.  That's where I met up with the rest of my chapter and our two guests.
The event was MC-ed by the Queens Counsel and they told jokes, drew names for door prizes and introduced the Elvis Impersonator as our entertainment.  We were serves a salad, I got the chicken with saffron rice and asparagus.  Dessert was some sort of floral infused sorbet that was bright yellow in an edible bowl with an edible flower, all which I tasted but did not eat.  I did have 3 rolls with butter during dinner, that was my splurge for the day!
The event was over about 245pm and I was one of the first out as I really had to go to the bathroom and didn't want to wait in a long line.  Judithmary was a little disappointed, I could tell, but I didn't care as I really had to pee!
I drove home and when I came home, hubby had the fans going on all over the house so it was nice and cool inside.  I went upstairs where he was and told him about the afternoon and changed.  Judithmary dry cleans her dresses and todl me to just give it back to her so she could do it since I wouldn't be able to do it until the 15th.  Hubby and I sat together on the bed, watching some tv until he fell asleep, then I went downstairs to get on the computer.  He slept for a good 3 and a half hours!  He woke up around 730 and then helped me feed the animals.  Then I started dinner.
Tonight I made a double batch of Beef Stroganoff.  I wasn't sure how much Frank would eat so I wanted to make sure we had enough.  A regular batch with one pound of steak would have been enough but now we have lots of leftovers for hubby to eat for lunch all next week.  Probably I will freeze the rest of it Tuesday.
The rattie boys got tomatoes, lettuce and purple califlower for dinner tonight.  Our dinner wasn't done in time to give they any when I fed them.  Tomorrow for dinner I will rinse the sauce off and feed them the beef, peas and noodles.  They really like the noodles!
Tomorrow, Judithmary is having a bbq for the two guest we had at the luncheon but I had already told her that I had plans and wouldn't be attending so I will send her another message tonight to remind her.  Hubby and I plan on going to church, the library then spending the evening together.

Friday, July 10, 2015

Today was a relaxing day.  Hubby had to be at work at 8am and though I need the car to go to Judithmary's some time today, I didn't need to be there in the morning, so I kissed hubby goodbye and went back to sleep until 10am.
When I woke up, slowly, I ate some yogurt and read some of my Janet Evanovich book.  The stories are about a woman named Stephanie Plum, who, through a series of choices, became a Bond Enforcement Agent, or a Bounty Hunter.  The books are stories about her life and the two men in it.  And about her fumbling, lucky attempts to capture the fugitives or FTA, failures to appears, the people who take out a bond to get out of jail that guarantees they will come back to court for their hearing and when they don't show up for that hearing, Stephanie has to track them down and take them to jail to reschedule their court date and get another bond.  If Stephanie doesn't catch them before a certain date, her cousin who owns the bond agency is out a lot of money.
I watched The Price is Right and then talked to hubby.  He was coming home at lunch at 1130am to eat and switch the car with me.  Hubby loved the beef stew I made so much, he has eaten it every for every meal today, breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Plus snack!
Anyhow, I took hubby back to the school and went over to Judithmary's house to pick up a dress she was lending me for the Red Hat luncheon tomorrow.  She also is lending me a floral head piece to wear.  She told me to get there by 930am, and told me where to go.
Visiting Judithmary only took a couple of minutes so when I came out of her house, I called my mom and asked her if her offer of lunch was still good.  She said it was and come on over.  Dad had hosted a committee meeting on Monday and they had made chicken salad and tuna salad for sandwiches that night and they had stuff left over.  So when I went over, I had a tuna salad sandwich with shredded lettuce and mustard.  Yum!
We visited and talked for about an hour then I got a call from hubby that he will have worked 40 hours by 3pm and he really wanted to go home early and not work overtime this week.  I told him I would come pick him up.
We got home by 330pm and ate some stew for an early dinner.  Dinner for me, snack for him.  He would end up eating 3 more bowls by the time the evening was over.  Possibly one more bowl at midnight.  I had sent him to the store to buy gallon sized freezer ziplock bags and sandwich baggies.  But there is only a little bit of stew left so it will go in a container in the fridge.  And he will probably eat it for breakfast.
I added 3 more days to my menu planning from food that we have on hand.  And I managed to stretch out the dog food until after payday by feeding the dogs stew instead of canned dog food for dinner for 2 nights in a row.  The dogs were in heaven!
Tonight will be an early night since I have to get up at 8am to leave by 845am.  There is supposed to be 500 Red Hatters attending this luncheon and there will be vendors there too.  This is my first big Red Hat event I have ever attended.

Thursday, July 9, 2015

Today was a crocheting day.  Since we couldn't get tires today, when I woke up to let the dogs out at 8am, I asked hubby if it was ok for me to go to my Prayer Shawl Meeting at 9.  He said he didn't have to be at work until 1130am so I could take the car.  The meeting is from 9 to 11 but I told him I would leave the meeting at 1030am so I would be home at 11.  Then I ate a breakfast of a couple of yogurt and left.
When I got out to the car, one of our lady neighbor's was walking when she stopped in front of our yard because she saw a mama skunk cross over our neighbor's yard and walk into our backyard with 7 babies following.  I groaned and thanked her for letting me know.  I told her they didn't live in our yard as none of our dogs have been spray and when we did have a skunk living in our yard, our dogs were sprayed.   This is not the first time I have heard about the skunk mama and her 7 babies.  Our neighbor, Dave, saw them across the street and counted them.
I made it to the church only a few minutes late but just in time for the starting prayer.  What we do for the meeting is get together twice a month and knit, crochet or use a lap loom to make scarves, shawls, and hats.  So I worked on crocheting my prayer shawl.  I am using a sparkling orange yarn with a variegated orange, green and white yarn as alternating stripes.
When I came out the church, I saw that our back tire with the slow leak was half flat so I drove down the road to Kum and Go for the free air and filled it.  Then I drove home in time to have hubby help me clean Baby's ears and apply the ointment before he had to leave for work.
I then made my beef stew.  I started out with putting in the 2 pounds of stewing beef.  I added 4 potatoes all cut into chunks.  I added two cans of peas, two cans of green beans and two cans of corn.  Then in went a can of tomatoes cut up into petite pieces, a can of tomato sauce, dehydrated onions, beef base, garlic and spices.  I added water and let it cook on low in the crock pot for 4 hours.  Then I tasted it and added some sour cream for body.  I also added krinkle cut carrot slices.  I then put it on high and cooked it for another 4 hours until hubby and Frank came home.  Then we ate.
I am leaving the crock pot on and the beef stew in on low overnight so that we will be able to eat it tomorrow.  Hubby will usually eat again around midnight and will probably have a bowl for breakfast.  After we have it for dinner tomorrow night, I will freeze the rest.  Hubby will have to go to the store for gallon sized ziplock baggies to put it in.
I was really impressed with the taste of the beef stew juice.  It tasted really good!
Mom told me that tomorrow we are supposed to be back in the 80s, so shorts for tomorrow.  I have to drop hubby off at work and go over to Judithmary's and borrow her dress for the Red Hat luncheon on Saturday.

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Today was an efficient day.  Remember that yesterday I spent the day doing up a menu plan for the dinners for the rest of the payday?  And I did a grocery list along with it?  Well, today it paid off.
I got up this morning with hubby and dropped him off at work.  On the way there he kept telling me to tell the car repair center that the car shimmies now since the hit and run accident.  But when I got there, I thought the shimmy was from the tires being bald and didn't mention it.  I checked in and Al came out and looked at the car.  He took pictures of what was wrong and said that on vehicles this old he would have a hard time finding parts.  He said it would take him about 45 minutes and he would call me, so I left.
I went grocery shopping and had my list.  I was determined to stick to it and just maybe get a couple of additional things if they were on sale.  So I got everything on my list plus pork chops because they were on sale for $1.99 a pound, Luzanne Family Sized Tea Bags because they were marked down to $1.99 plus there was 30 tea bags instead of 24, Cherries because they were $4.99 a pound yesterday so I only got half a pound but were now $1.99 a pound so I got 2.5 pounds, a store brand hazelnut coffee because it was on sale for $5.99 and I was hoping that hubby would consider mixing his expensive coffee with this store brand coffee in a 50/50 mixture to test if we could stretch out his coffee, milk because it was on sale for $1.88, an extra container of sour cream to freeze because it was on sale 2 for $4.00 and I can freeze it and two extra cans of biscuits since they were only 50 cents each.  I had a budget of $140 and I came in under budget at $132.57.  I got enough to make dinner until the 16th for 3 adults and should have leftovers enough for hubby to take to work for lunches.
After I was done grocery shopping I went home and Frank, our now roommate again, unloaded the car for me.  I put everything away and drank a can of Pepsi.  I thought about eating lunch but wasn't really hungry so I just drank the Pepsi.  Hubby called at 315 and told me his meeting was done so I could come get him for lunch and to switch the car.
When I picked him up he asked me if I told the repair shop that the car shimmied and I told him I thought the shimmy was from the bald tires and no, I didn't.  He started yelling like I called his mother a whore.  I told him about what Al had said that the parts were going to be hard to find and may cost more than the car is worth and if that happened, the insurance company would total the car.  They would give us a check for the value of the car and we could buy it back for a cheap price and the balance of the amount would be ours.  Then we would be responsible to fix the car ourselves.  Hubby said that was unacceptable and he would insist that the insurance company fix the car and  I told him that is not how it works, he wouldn't have an option in that case.  My goodness!  He just kept yelling at me and telling me that I was screwing it all up and he would make the insurance company fix the car.  I asked him to stop yelling at me but he didn't.  I asked him what else had happened today to make him so tense that he was blowing this all out of proportion.  He said nothing happened and it was all my fault that he was so tense.  By this time we were home and I asked if I could make him a sandwich but he just kept yelling so I told him just to go back to work and cool off.  We were on the same side.
I then got on the computer and wrote some to my cousin and to my nephew.  Then I went through my email.  Then I fed the beasties, including Brent's dog, Dixie, that was still with us.  Brent was going to pick her up late tonight.  Frank offered to feed everybody for me but I knew what measurements to feed everybody and just went ahead and did it.  Then I cleaned the rattie boys' cage and fed them.
I put together a whole chicken with chopped up potatoes in a pan and roasted it.  I added a little bit of wine for flavor.  Then I played on the computer until hubby called and said he was on his way home.  I talked to Cassie while I was playing on the computer, she told me that she hurt her back when she was spotting the girls in her gymnastic's class Monday night and it really hurt still.  She thought if it still hurt this bad tomorrow, she might go into the doctor's.
Hubby got home just as I was heating up the vegetable, french cut green beans, and pulling the chicken out.  The potatoes were cooked perfectly and I had made just the right amount for the 3 of us.  After dinner, I boned the chicken and put the shredded leftovers in the freezer to use later to make my version of chicken pot pies.  It is going to be on the menu for the next payday.  And I decided on one change to the dinner menu, instead of making Taco Bake again this Friday, we still have leftovers from it from the last time I made it, we will just eat beef stew two nights in a row.  I will make the Taco Bake next payday menu since I have already bought all the stuff for it.
Hubby hasn't apologized for all the yelling but I will be the bigger person and just let it go.  I did call the repair center and left a message that the car shimmies now since it has been hit when we get to higher speeds, then had left a message for hubby telling him what I did.  I did this earlier in the day.
Since Frank can't pay very much in rent and can only pay $140.00 a month for food, he is going to have to do a lot of work around the house.  I will have a list of jobs that I want him to do like all the housework that I don't do plus extra jobs like cleaning the windows and washing the walls.  He only works part time and a big chunk of his paycheck goes to pay back child support.  I'm going to talk to hubby and tell him that I think Frank should have to pay us 2/3rd of his paycheck to us and he can keep 1/3rd to pay for his cigarettes and alcohol.
I changed my mind about letting Frank come live with us because he would otherwise have to go live in a homeless shelter and it's not always guaranteed that he could get into the shelter every night. Then he would be sleeping on the streets and I didn't want that to happen.
