Today was a investigative day. Hubby had a doctor appointment at 10am this morning so we had to get up at 9 in order to leave at 930am. This was the big appointment with his former surgeon, Dr Illig. He was going to go over the test results and tell us what needed to be done about hubby's herniated disc and all the pain he is now feeling.
So he showed us the test results of the xray of the Flex/Extend test. Showed how the herniated disc really isn't bad enough for surgery. And that the nerve stimulation test showed no noticeable damage to the nerves at this time. He said there were treatments that can be done to lessen the pain but we would need to see another type of doctor for those. So he gave us the names of three other doctors and we need to call to see which will take our insurance and call his assistant back with the name of the one we choose to see. They will call over the referral and then that doctor will take over treatment. He said that hubby has degenerative disc disorder or disease, can't remember, and the herniated disc. These are aggravated by lifting things above his head and looking up, lifting things that are low and flexing his head. Sleeping with his next flexed or extended. Lots of things have caused this problem.
So hubby was excited to hear he wouldn't need surgery. We walked out of there with him mentally feeling better. Still in lots of pain, but mentally feeling better.
We came home, he got changed for work and left. I took my book and phone and sat in the swing to Instagram and read. I took a couple of pictures of cats and posted them. I was still sitting out there a couple of hours later when Frank came home. Then I came inside and started going through Holly's 4 Ingredient Cookbook. I wrote down recipes for beef and chicken. There are a couple I would like to do for the next menu dinner plan.
By now it was time to start dinner. I had pulled out two polish sausages to cut up and combine with potatoes, onions and green beans but when I opened the fridge, I saw the two bags of pork chili we had pulled out at the beginning of the weekend to eat and hadn't done it yet. So I put the sausage back in the fridge and started heating up the pork chili. I had the temperature up too high at first so burned the bottom of the pan, but it was ok. I added some frozen sour cream and simmered it for a little while to mix it in. Gave it a creamy taste. Frank and I ate.
Now that hubby is working until 9, I just started heating the chili up for him. I have it on a low setting so it will be nice and hot by the time he gets home.
I have been spending a lot of my time off the computer lately, so have been negligent in posting my journal. But that will change, I'm back! I weighed myself this morning at the doctor's and with my clothes on, my sandals on and having had eaten yogurt for breakfast, with a Pepsi, I still only weighed 178lb. Yeah!
Tomorrow I have to start making more Short Stack Blueberry Pancake Cookies, bake some more dog biscuits since the dogs are getting low, and clean the rattie boys' cage. They had another party without inviting me and really rearranged the furniture!
