Today was a restful day.  I got up at 530am again, but this time it was the dogs whining.  I took them downstairs and let them out.  I stood there for a few minutes and decided I really wanted to go back to bed, so I opened the back door, left it open and went back to bed.
I slept in until about 930am, getting up before the alarm.  Hubby didn't have to be in until 1130am all this week and next, so he was still sleeping.  I heard Hot Dog, our local stray, meowing out front, so I jumped up and ran outside.  I got some clean water and a cup full of food to take out to him.
When I got out front, I saw what the problem was.  Helen, our biggest cat, was house-side and facing off with Hot Dog and not letting him come closer.  I put out the fresh water, filled the bowls and sat down.  I talked to Helen, telling her it was alright, he was welcomed.  Eventually she moved on, letting him come up.  He wanted company more than food, so I talked to him for a while.  While we were talking, and yes, he did answer back, Janice and the dogs came up the block, back from their walk.
Hot Dog is not allowed to stay in the house when she isn't home as he won't use the dog door to come and go, and he peed in Tim's workout room.  They had just pulled the carpet over the weekend.  I guess they didn't try the white vinegar trick like I told them.  So when she goes for a walk, he will follow so long, then come back.  Then he comes over to my house so I will come sit with him.
A little bit later, I got dressed and put on a head scarf, then Janice and I went to Target.  I hadn't planned on getting anything but managed to find stuff to buy anyhow.  I got a 12 pack of Pedigree Dog Food, a gallon of bleach, 100 count box of quart sized zip lock bags, 100 count of gallon sized bags, a card for hubby's birthday, a character set of the Peanuts kids and Snoopy for hubby's birthday in November, a Fischer Price reissued See and Say toy for our granddaughter, Li An for her 2nd birthday in November, and a set of white bulldog salt and pepper shakers for my mom for her birthday in December.  I took out an additional $10 to take Janice out to lunch, so the total came to $86.
Janice and I went to Subway to get lunch but she wasn't ready to eat yet, so we got it to go.  When we got home, we went our separate ways.  I ate my lunch, read my magazine for a little while, then started mixing up some Short Stack Cookie dough.  It used 3 whole sticks of butter, melted.
That's a lot!  And after you mix up the dough, you have to refrigerate it for at least an hour, if not overnight.  I put it in the fridge for a couple of hours.
I made some dog biscuits for our dogs, pumpkin.  They really love the smell of them baking and can tell when I'm taking them out that they will get some.  They all come running when I yell "TREAT!"
I was making Hamburger Casserole for dinner tonight, from Dining on a Dime cookbook.  Only I really changed up the recipe.  Instead of half a pound of hamburger, I used a pound and a half.  I cooked a full pound of pasta shells.  When I cooked up the hamburger, I seasoned it with a little chili pepper, salt, pepper, Italian Seasonings, a heaping tablespoon of crushed garlic, and 2 teaspoons of onion powder.  Then I added in the cooked pasta.  I mixed it all up really well.  I added a 28 oz of diced tomatoes, a 15 oz can of diced tomatoes, and about 1/2 of tomato sauce, more or less.  Then I added in a good mixture of Mexican Shredded Cheese.  I split this up between two casserole dishes, topped with the remainder of the cheese, and baked it in the oven for 25 minutes.  IT was just over warm, so we ate it but it really could have used another half hour in the oven.
I had Frank take some of the Hamburger Casserole from the one casserole dish we ate out of and I saved the second one for when hubby got home after 930pm.  I put it in the oven at 350 at 8pm.  At that time, I thought he was working until 830 and that would give it an hour to cook.  But then at 830, he called and said he was on a roll and was working until 930pm.  So I turned the oven down to 225 and left the casserole in.
He told me he was having a day when he called me over lunch and I offered to give him is birthday present early, like tonight, and he said yeah, he would like that.  So I filled out the card, it had a picture of a cat and a dog, dressed up in suits and hats like the Blue Brothers.  I wrapped the character set of the Peanuts gang in the Target bag and left then on his plate on the table for him to open when he got home.
He loved them!  Brightened up his day.  He ate and liked the food, but didn't eat very much.  He really liked the cookies.  Our cat, Katie, kept licking the cookies, so he took them away.  Tomorrow I have to finish baking the rest of the cookies.  And I'm going to make our dogs some more dog biscuits.
