Today was a vocabulary building day. When hubby did the pills last night, measuring out all our medications into our week long daily pill containers, he noticed that for the past two days, I haven't taken my morning pills at all. I didn't realize this and asked, again, for his help in remembering to do it. I had been doing really well, in getting up in the mornings and getting dressed, getting and taking my pills right after. But the last couple of days I haven't been getting dressed right away, either staying in bed reading or going downstairs in my pjs and not getting dressed until the afternoon. So I threw myself off. This morning I woke up at 9am, and came downstairs in my pjs so I wouldn't wake hubby up. I got on the computer for a little, then got on Instagram on my phone. I spent about two hours doing that, until hubby woke up at noon. I had wanted to go to church, but wanted to let him sleep as long as he could, so I didn't go up and wake him up. But, once again, I had forgotten to take my pills. When my alarm on my phone went off at 520pm, set to remind me to take my afternoon pill, I remembered I hadn't taken my morning pills, so I took them then.
When hubby woke up, our roommate, Frank, said he was getting ready to clean the bathrooms today, so we should use them now. So I got hubby up and moving into the bathroom. He had to have his morning constitutional and a shower, so that took a while. I went ahead and ate a Hot Pocket for lunch. Ham and Cheese, my favorite! When I got up this morning, I had eaten a yogurt and drank a Pepsi. Normally one Pepsi a day is enough, but today, I needed a second one at lunch, so I drank another one. While I was eating, I made out a simple dinner menu for the week. Taking a clue from hubby, I used our frozen pantry for the main staple of the week and made out a simple grocery menu. I only had $60 to shop for the week, so needed to use all my resources.
After lunch was over, hubby was dressed and ready. I made him sit down and eat something, he had leftovers of last night's Chicken and Pasta. I made him drink a big glass of water too, since 3 times last night and this morning he had dizzy spells and last night, got really sick from them. So I wanted to make sure he would be ok today. We went over the menu, he said it was ok, he added a couple of things to the grocery list, and we left for King Soopers.
When we got to the store, I saw that grapes were on sale for 99 cents a pound. I had down that I was getting some more fruit, so that worked out well. We also got some bananas. Salad was on sale for a 12 oz bag of mix greens for $1.49. I got two of those. We got slice carrots for the beef stew I'm making and some tomatoes.
I had a short list and pretty soon we were done. By my calculations we had spent $47. Frank had also given us money to buy everything we needed to do a bbq with hamburgers and hotdogs, so that was a separate order. That included getting some soda for the house and some canned fruit punch. I forgot to get Mountain Dew for Frank. But when I got to the register, the total only came up to $45, as I had over estimated on the cost of the fruit. I love when that happens! Now we had some extra money to put towards gas! With hubby going to Denver twice this coming week, we sure could use it! Unfortunately, we waited too long to use our discount for 40 cents off a gallon of gas from King Soopers, and we found out that we lost it. Darn it!
When we got home, I put everything away, and hubby got the food ready to put on the grill. Hubby and I have had a gas grill for 3 years but 2 years ago, when hubby was bbqing, it caught on fire and he thought the hoses needed to be replaced and since we were short on money, we never got around to it. Well, Frank checked out the bbq and cleaned it and bought propane for it. It works fine! So he treated us to a bbq lunch today. That was so nice!
My sister, Laura, had offered me her player piano that she had inherited from our Uncle Ed when he passed away some years ago. Now she is redoing her house and wanted to get rid of it. I happily agreed to take it and Frank has gotten some of the guys he works with to agree to help us move it. I just have to see if my dad will consider using his trailer to transport it since I have the muscle to move it. Frank has to get one more guy to help so we have 4. If my dad says we can't use the trailer, then I will call a guy I know that will transport things on his trailer for $35 and see if he is available. We are planning on this for next weekend.
The rest of the day was spent with hubby and I on the front yard swing for awhile, watching John Stewart and interviews with Steven Colbert about his new late night talk show. I really like these guys, they have great presence. I'm looking forward to watching Steven Colbert's new show to see how is really is, not the character he played on The Colbert Report.
Hubby bbq pork ribs for him and Frank for dinner. With sweet and sour sauce. I'm waiting to see how the fatty meal with settle on his stomach. We plan on watching the season finale of The Last Ship and an episode of The Strain. I think that still has several episodes.
Tomorrow is Labor Day, so both Frank and hubby are off. Cassie's birthday is in 15 days and my baby will be 26. I have gotten her a great pair of leopard spotted slipper boots, a shitload of make up pencils for the lip and eye, and a sewing kit with a bunch of threads, needles, snaps and more. I want to plan on a day to go up and see them right around her birthday. Whichever weekend works out best for her and we can afford.
