Today was a hoarder day. Yes, I know what that means and in this case, it's referring to the fact that we now have a 7th cat. At least temporarily.
My day started with me waking up before the 1030am alarm and lying there reading until hubby woke up. Then I sat up, ate my last cherry cinnamon roll and drank my cola while watching more Project Runway Australia on YouTube. I'm in season 2 now! Hubby got ready for work and left after kissing me goodbye. I stayed in my nightshirt and sweats and kept watching PRA, after feeding the animals, of course.
About 1pm, Janice calls me and asks me if I have a minute to come over. I told her I would get dressed and be right there. When I get over there, she explains that since they had gotten new carpet, they tried to let the stray, Hot Dog, in but he got sick and Tim once again reiterated that he was never to be in the house again. So the cat they took in that was a stray, they have fed and got him to trust them, was now back out in the cold. Would I please put him in my house and take care of him.
Now Janice had told me her plan a month ago that they were kicking him out and when they moved away, he would be on his own again. I talked to hubby and we agreed to try and take care of him the best we could but we have 6 cats, one is a fixed male. Hot Dog is familiar with our cats, as they are all almost indoor/outdoor cats and go over to Janice and Tim's. The cats have intermingled before. Hot Dog is wary of our cats and doesn't get too close to them. But we planned on to keep feeding him outside and maybe try to build a cat house outdoors for him to stay in. But today I had Janice carry him over to my house. He had never been inside before, my dogs don't like other cats, so he was a little freaked. I tried to put him in the library but Janice let him out in the house. My dogs tore after him and pinned him, so I put them outside and got him to go upstairs. But then he went under my bed and stayed there. I finally had to get Frank to get the broom and push him down to the end of the bed where I could pick him up and take him into the library. This time I got him in there with the door shut. I left dry cat food, water and canned cat food out for him. He went under the futon and stayed. I figured it will take a few days for him to calm down in there. Once he sees he is alone and no other animal is in there with him, he will calm down and come out. Poor baby! Abandoned, abused, loved and betrayed. We are going to see if our friend, Brent, will consider taking him as a barn cat out at his 5 acre place.
Hubby is pretty tired and looking forward to the weekend. He has to get stuff to reattach the front bumper to our car as it is almost off the car from that hit and run accident at the beginning of the summer. I have a Docent meeting to go to on Saturday and am looking forward to it. I haven't been to one since May!
