Today was a crocheting day. Since we couldn't get tires today, when I woke up to let the dogs out at 8am, I asked hubby if it was ok for me to go to my Prayer Shawl Meeting at 9. He said he didn't have to be at work until 1130am so I could take the car. The meeting is from 9 to 11 but I told him I would leave the meeting at 1030am so I would be home at 11. Then I ate a breakfast of a couple of yogurt and left.
When I got out to the car, one of our lady neighbor's was walking when she stopped in front of our yard because she saw a mama skunk cross over our neighbor's yard and walk into our backyard with 7 babies following. I groaned and thanked her for letting me know. I told her they didn't live in our yard as none of our dogs have been spray and when we did have a skunk living in our yard, our dogs were sprayed. This is not the first time I have heard about the skunk mama and her 7 babies. Our neighbor, Dave, saw them across the street and counted them.
I made it to the church only a few minutes late but just in time for the starting prayer. What we do for the meeting is get together twice a month and knit, crochet or use a lap loom to make scarves, shawls, and hats. So I worked on crocheting my prayer shawl. I am using a sparkling orange yarn with a variegated orange, green and white yarn as alternating stripes.
When I came out the church, I saw that our back tire with the slow leak was half flat so I drove down the road to Kum and Go for the free air and filled it. Then I drove home in time to have hubby help me clean Baby's ears and apply the ointment before he had to leave for work.
I then made my beef stew. I started out with putting in the 2 pounds of stewing beef. I added 4 potatoes all cut into chunks. I added two cans of peas, two cans of green beans and two cans of corn. Then in went a can of tomatoes cut up into petite pieces, a can of tomato sauce, dehydrated onions, beef base, garlic and spices. I added water and let it cook on low in the crock pot for 4 hours. Then I tasted it and added some sour cream for body. I also added krinkle cut carrot slices. I then put it on high and cooked it for another 4 hours until hubby and Frank came home. Then we ate.
I am leaving the crock pot on and the beef stew in on low overnight so that we will be able to eat it tomorrow. Hubby will usually eat again around midnight and will probably have a bowl for breakfast. After we have it for dinner tomorrow night, I will freeze the rest. Hubby will have to go to the store for gallon sized ziplock baggies to put it in.
I was really impressed with the taste of the beef stew juice. It tasted really good!
Mom told me that tomorrow we are supposed to be back in the 80s, so shorts for tomorrow. I have to drop hubby off at work and go over to Judithmary's and borrow her dress for the Red Hat luncheon on Saturday.
