Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015

Today was a thankful day.  Memorial Day is a day to be thankful for those who served and died.  Thankful for the freedom they fought for for me.  For us.  For America.  For the free world.
The day started off hubby and I waking up to the alarm, hubby calling his friend, Brent, and trying to get a hold of him to see what time he was going to come over and help us fix our cars.  We had 3 vehicles down.  My parents vehicle, the PT Cruise, started bucking and chugging about a block away from the house Sunday on our way back from church.  Felt like the gas line getting clogged so we wanted to get some high octane gas treatment to put in the tank.  The Saturn, the radiator cracked when we were on the way up to see Cassie the day before the wedding.  Elroy, my 83 Chevy C10, the radiator and fan guard needed to be put back in along with all the respected hoses and have fluid put in to see if we finally got the water pump put in right.
Brent eventually got here and handed out cans of Pepsi all around.  Then he and hubby started working on the Saturn.  They did their man thing and I stayed out of their way.  Brent and hubby are long time friends and you might even say best friends so when they work on a project, they don't want me around.  So I stayed in the house and eventually started the laundry.
They got the radiator and new hoses in the Saturn and let it run for a bit.  Then hubby took it for a little run around the neighborhood, it worked great.  Brent and hubby put the radiator and fan guard and hoses back in Elroy but couldn't start him because the battery was dead.  It was starting to rain, so they didn't want to jump it, so they came inside and I went on a lunch run to Wendy's.  Brent passed on lunch but I got food for hubby and one of the new Strawberry Chicken Salads for me.  I did use both pouches of salad dressing they put in but forgot to put on the nuts and didn't eat all the chicken.  I also had a large Coke.
Hubby put the gas treatment in my parents car and let it sit.  Then later he started it up and drove around the neighborhood, it drove fine.  The engine light was still on so I called my mom and asked if she felt comfortable with us driving the car back over to them or should we call AAA and get a tow.  She said to wait until my dad got home and he would call us back to tell us what to do.  So when dad got home, I told him what the car had done, what we did and he said to just drive the car back.  Hubby drove the PT Cruiser and I followed in the Saturn.  On the drive over, the engine light went out.
When we got to my parents house, dad looked up what happened and found out since the engine light went out, it was probably some bad gas and the gas treatment and some of the highest octane gas cured the problem.  So bing!  Problem solved!
After we dropped off the car, hubby took me to Cracker Barrel, for which I have been craving their Roast Beef dinner with mashed potatoes and brown gravy, coleslaw, and fried apples.  And I had some strawberry lemonade.  Yeah!
We got home and watched the first episode of True Detective.  Then we watched some Modern family and vegged out.
