Cassie's Wedding Day, Saturday, May 16, 2015

Today was a Wedding day!  IT actually all started Friday.  Cassie wanted me to come up and spend the night with her at Jack's house, with her and one of her maid of honors, Miranda.  So hubby had to work half a day and then got off at noon.  I got ready and packed, and when he got home, we left and went out to lunch together to celebrate.  We went to Cracker Barrel and had the roast beef dinner with sides, so good!  I only ate half of mine and took the rest with me up to Longmont to snack on later.
Then hubby and I started driving up I25 to Denver.  As soon as we got to Denver, he hit construction traffic.  Now we needed to get all the way through Denver but it was stop and go.  We made it about half way through when we noticed the car started to over heat.  We got off and got onto Federal, made it up to Federal and 26th when we spotted a 7-11 and pulled over for gas and to let the car cool off.  We pulled up to the gas pump and turned off the car.  Hubby popped the hood and suddenly steam came up and coolant poured from under the car.  The engine was bleeding green.  We were hosed.
We pulled out our AAA card and looked at it, it said valid until May 15, 2015, so this was our last day of our premium membership.  Premium membership would tow us up to 100 miles so that was important.  So I immediately called Cassie and asked her to come pick me up and then called AAA to schedule a tow truck to come get hubby and the car and take it back to Colorado Springs.  After that, I called my parents and asked to borrow their PT Cruiser while we fixed ours.  They said ok.  That would also allow hubby to come back up to Longmont for the wedding the next morning and for us to stay after the wedding for the family dinner at the Gromala's before Cassie and Drew headed off on their short honeymoon.
The tow truck arrived before Cassie did so hubby went across the street and talked to the firemen at the fire station and they agreed I could wait with my stuff in the lobby until Cassie came and got me.  They were very friendly and checked on me often to make sure I didn't need anything to drink and that I was comfortable.  When Cassie arrived, a lot of the firemen came over and said goodbye.
Cassie, Emily and Miranda picked me up and on the way back to Longmont, we stopped a few places to pick up a dress and shoes.  Then we ordered pizza and wings and I bought the dinner for everybody.  We arrived where we were staying for the night and hung out.  Emily had to go back to her house and her husband and baby, then Miranda went to bed and it was just me and Cass.  I was tired so we didn't stay up very late and soon went to bed.  I read for a little bit and then Cassie wasn't tired and ready for bed so she went back down stairs while I went to sleep.  I should have followed her and talked about marriage and what to expect but they have been living together for almost 2 years now and I didn't feel it was pressing and when I take my night pills, I pretty much end up sleeping straight through.
The next morning, Miranda and Cassie got up and we all had breakfast then they headed over to the salon to get their hair done.  I stayed at Jack's house, finished eating breakfast and watching tv until Holly showed up.  Holly, the most wonder fullest of all friends, agreed to come up and photograph the wedding for gas money, which I plan on giving her on Tuesday.
I had also forgotten to bring the bouquets up when I came up on Friday so Holly picked them up from hubby Friday night and brought them up with her Saturday morning.  Holly got all sorts of interesting artistic shots of the dress, the shoes and the bouquets, along with the rings.  When the girls got back, we got our make up done by Cassie's friend.  Then we got dressed.  By this time, hubby had shown up and helped out with last minute details.  Then we all piled into cars and headed over to the park.
We arrived at the park and everyone was sitting on the blankets on the ground, the tulle was wrapped around the posts put into the ground and the arch was overlooking the lake.  There was an aisle outlines for us to walk Cassie down.  We got her father, David, and then the two of us walked Cassie down to the alter, where Drew was waiting with his groomsmen and the bridesmaids and flower girl were waiting on Cassie's side.  Music was playing but for the life of me, I don't remember what it was.  I know I was wearing a grin from ear to ear and was trying not to cry.
The minister, Liza, was telling a story about the kids, weaving a tale and love story.  The ceremony was about half an hour long but ended far too soon.  My baby was married but she will always be my little girl.  There was music and food and snacks, people taking pictures and Cassie and Drew making the rounds.  Pictures were being taken by my dad and Holly and groups were assembled.  It will take about a week before we get the cds amassed and copied.
Hubby and I finally made it home about 10pm.  We went to the family dinner held at the Gromalas and socialized.  We presented the honeymoon to Drew and Cassie, left the other presents for them to open when they get back.  Reminded them that they will need to write thank you notes for everything.
Hubby was exhausted so I made the drive back, listening to country music.  We stopped at Walmart to pick up a cable to download the camera tomorrow and I found some notepads on clearance for $2.50 so I picked up all they had for gifts.
When we got home, we fed the beasties, I spent time with Kira petting and loving on her since I missed her so much.  We watched SNL then Moscow on the Hudson and went to sleep.
